I have used Hill Electric several times over the last decade and have had good results. However, over the last 3 years I feel as though their communication within their scheduling process is slipping. In my last two communications while scheduling work to be done, and confirming a time schedule, along with a process for communication outlined and confirmed by the scheduler via email, the electricians did not receive the communication properly. The time "windows" for an appointment are too wide. Because of this, you may want to plan on "waiting" for an electrician to show up, or they may show up 3-4 hours earlier. If you choose to use Hill Electric plan on being available all day. If you have a job, you may want to take a day of vacation to make sure you are at home all day,..to meet "their" schedule. They don't seem to respect a customer's time schedules. Then again,..there are so many new homes and apartments being build in this county,...they probably don't need to solicit business, and thus, may be ok with losing loyal customers. WAY overpriced. Surprise charges. Office personnel very unorganized... didn't return my voicemails-- they were unsure, gave vague, sketchy reasons for the charges. The work was done in mid-October -- Statement came dated December 31 -- and it arrived in mail early January -- and was marked Past Due. I had to call them to come back early November for a switch that fell off (that switch had been fine before they came in October) and I was charged a second service fee. They reduced a portion of it after I complained but people shouldn't have had to complain. It should have been right the first time. What about all those people who don't complain. I will definitely never hire them again. read more

I had a whole house surge protector installed, today. Hill Electric has been my go-to for many years. The electrian arrived on time. He was personable and professional. He answered all my questions. From the time I first contacted Hill to enquire about a surge protector, my experience was nothing but professional and friendly. I really don't know how they could have done a better job so. five stars. I have always been very satisfied with Hill and never had any issues. I recommend them. read more

Brent was professional, courteous, and even put on booties as soon as he walked in to our home. He explained how our circuits worked and where they were backed up after faulty bathroom lights and fans didn't want to turn back on. He was in and out in no time and fixed our issue! I had bathroom and overhead fans installed by Hill Electric. The work was OK, but I thought they charged too much labor time. I called the office eight separate times and each time was told someone would call me back about this concern, but no one ever did. A contact through their web site had the same lack of response. This was very disrespectful. I ended up paying the charged amount, but I would never use them again. read more

I had this company do some re-wiring to address our fuse box regularly getting overloaded, but immediately after they did the work, our hallway and living room lighting stopped working. We called them back to have them fix the problem, a problem we never had before so it was a result of the work they did, and they seemed to agree we wouldn't be charged, but about 5 weeks later they sent us a bill. They would not agree that the problem was a result of their previous work. It's almost like they waited a while to bill us so they could deny they ever agreed not to charge us. read more

Hill provided an electrician to work with my plumbing contractor on the installation of a new heat pump water heater. The electrician was on time, efficient and even and went back to the shop to find the right fuses for the disconnect that had been installed for the heater. The price was fair and electrian friendly and helpful. I will definitely use Hill again. read more

We had called two other places and got estimates but then they would not return our calls to do the work and I was reluctant to call Hill because I didn't think the work we wanted to do was not a big enough job for them to want to do. I was wrong. They came out and gave a competitive priced estimate and we booked the job a few days later and they completed the work as promised and under the estimate. I was very disappointed with the service I received. I arranged my day to be home during the appointed time. When the service man didn't show, I was told that he called and because I didn't answer the phone he assumed I wasn't home. He had not even left a message. He then told me he would not be able to make it out even though I still had 30 minutes left in the appointed wait time. I called the office and requested another service man still come out When they sent the second service man out he did a very hurried job. He put in a bare bulb where I once had a light fixture and told me that he couldn't fix the light fixture. I will take it in somewhere else to have it repaired. I arranged my day around this service job and and felt that I was disregarded and that my job was not important. read more

They were professional, friendly, asked our needs, discussed options, and cleaned up work space when done. Price was fair and I feel confident that my project was done correctly. There are no words to describe how fantastic the team at Hill is! We used them twice in one month to fix storm damaged service lines to our home from downed trees. Each time, despite being very busy, they found a way to squeeze us in get our power back on! Their dispatchers are sympathetic, resourceful, kind, and responsive! Love Hill Electric! When I bought my first house my uncle recommended them and I'm so glad I took his advice! They have always been prompt and professional and didn't pad their estimates or push any excessively expensive products. Great attention to detail and customer service. We had our concrete stoops removed and which uncovered the buried wiring to the garage and it turns out that the conduit that was almost completely rusted away. I called on Friday about 1pm and Victor was able to come out 2 hours later to get the info for an estimate due to a cancellation He made sure to verify that it wasn't an emergency. When he got here he thoroughly explained what would need to be done and helped us plan to install something that will meet our future needs, not just what we have today. He also took the time to disconnect the existing wiring (at no charge) so that we could turn the breaker back on. Very much appreciated because that circuit controls our dishwasher, disposal, and hood vent in addition to the garage, so we will be able to use those appliances while we wait for the estimate next week and the work to be completed a couple weeks after that. That's the best kind of customer service you could ask for. They are also replacing the over the sink light in the kitchen with a new LED and he made sure to find out what color temperature we like in the kitchen. As a female, there have been times when I've talked to contractors or other service people and I can just see them brushing me off or not listening to my concerns. Absolutely not the case here!! Hill was easy to work with and schedule. I bought a duplex that had dangerous electrical boxes. They came out, removed the old ones, and installed new ones. I have had any problems and they were installed 6 months ago. You may be able to find cheaper, but they did what they said when they said they would, and eliminates a lot of the stress of having to hire electrical work , and that was worth the 100 bucks to me. read more

I've used Hill Electric for a few different jobs over the years. In the past, I would have rated them 4-5 (which is why I continued to use them). But my recent experience warrants a 2 (Yelp defines 3 as "A-OK" which this last call definitely was not). No fault of the electrician... it is the receptionist who is going to run off business. First, it took me a few days and several calls before I could even get hold of her instead of an answering machine. When you finally do get through, she sounds so disinterested... like "another day, another pain-in-the-butt call I gotta answer". And then... she DROPPED MY APPOINTMENT! I'm here waiting during the scheduled 2-hour window, no one shows up, I give the electrician another 15 minutes, still no show so I call and she says, "Oh, well I wasn't sure whether you had cancelled or not...." You weren't sure? I ~never~ called to cancel it soooo.... ??? This kind of thing has never happened in the past. She didn't apologize, didn't offer any compensation... I mean, people take off work so they can be at home waiting for the electrician to show up... time = money. She said she'd call around and see if any techs were available, then call me back. More than an hour later... still no call... but then again, I called at 11:20 am so maybe she opted to "deal with it later"... after a long lunch break. Unfortunately Hill, it only takes one awful experience like this to make someone consider other electricians in town... I don't want to go through this nonsense again (especially since this incident is still unresolved). read more
