About 18 months ago we needed to replace/upgrade 3 light switches in our home. Because I like to deal locally when possible I contacted Parks Electric. I knew it was a very small job so I was pleasantly surprised when David Parks responded positively and sent a tech out within the week. The young man he sent was pleasant, courteous, knowledgeable and did a very nice job for us. A few months latter we wanted several new outlets installed in our utility room. Once again Dave scheduled us in a timely manner. The 2 techs showed up in masks, which we really appreciated, did a very nice job of advising us about placement based on our planned use and then completed the installation professionally. Early this year I was especially glad that I had found Parks Electric when my daughter had a major electrical service issue at a home she recently bought on Madison's north side. How the home inspector missed this issue is beyond me. Dave and his techs studied the situation, developed a solution and made the appropriate repairs and replacements immediately. I called Parks Electrical Service for a huge list of things, including: to install a ceiling fan in our bedroom, vent and install a bathroom fan in our master bath, put our basement lights on a switch, hook up a dishwasher, and vent our dryer to go outdoors. We have a 115+ year old house that has fragile plaster ceilings, old and tangled wiring from decades of remodels, and our attic/basement are difficult to access. Even with these challenges, Parks Electrical did a great job! Their electricians were very professional and didn't leave even the smallest chip in our delicate plasterwork. I described the projects to Dave when I called, and he made sure they had everything needed for the job including a few specialized pieces of duct work. I had a few minor things like three outlets to replace and two light switches where the on and off were getting stuck. We bought the replacements so when I called I told the owner it was a few minor things. I thought one guy would come. He sent out two guys which i thought was overkill but did not know at the time that I was being charged a trip fee for each guy. Needless to say one guy was outside and one inside. I watched the inside guy and it took him an hour to do two replacement of switches that were three ways. My husband in the past who is not handy has replaced one in our bathroom in under 30 minutes. So I was charged a $40 trip fee per guy so $80 plus 80 an hour per guy, so two hours of labor! I think the 240 labor bill was way too high and will not be calling them again. read more

We called David Parks for a long list of things-to-do, including audio-video home system set up, electrical wiring, network cabling, etc. David responded immediately and stopped by on the following date to discuss what we need. He is very knowledgeable about the current state-of-art audio-video technology and offered us several options -- no pushing, just alternative options -- for us to consider. He provided a reasonable estimate and was patient and thoughtful answering our questions. His installers worked diligently and efficiently. They were excellent to work with mounting TVs and configuring the Audio-Video system for the entire house. They also made a good suggestion to integrate the existing speaker systems in the house with a state-of-art modern technology. They lent us audio-video devices for us to try and test before we made the decision on the configuration of the new system. They add the electrical wiring based on our needs so that we can have our appliances in place, some of the appliances are even 220V or 240V. They installed a vehicle charging station in our garage. They also made recommendations for other internet network configuration that we can do ourselves. When we built our house in 2009, Parks did all of the electrical work for our new home. We've been very happy with their work since we've moved in. Since that time, we've had the opportunity to work with Parks on two other A/V projects at our house. For these projects we worked most closely with David. Beyond home electrical service, David is very knowledgeable about home networks and theaters. Given the options available on the market these days for home data networks, digital music, HD video streaming, etc. we really appreciated and valued his input when selecting our components. He was very accommodating and took time to meet with us at previous clients' locations, to demonstrate the capabilities of various pieces of equipment being considered for our project. David worked closely with our builder during the design, equipment selection and installation phases of our recent custom cabinetry project, giving us confidence that the end result would be what we expected. The end result is a well constructed home network with future scalability built in, allowing us to manage our desire for digital music that sounds great in several rooms, but also has visual appeal that compliments the custom cabinetry.
