Had an auto emergency this weekend and found Praise Auto on Yelp. Trusted the reviews and ratings of others and was not disappointed. My son attending nearby CPP was driving on the local streets and slowly all the dashboard lights started dimming and the radio turned off. Luckily he made it back to his apartment safely. My husband and I went to see the car fully ready to get it towed back home to a local mechanic about 25 miles away. Luckily the car started and sounded fine and we were debating whether it'll make it back home or not when my husband said out of caution he should take the surface streets and maybe find a mechanic nearby for a quick check. Praise Auto was en route so we stopped by because the lights and radio again were dimming and turning off. Bryan Lee, the owner, came out and said he'll do a quick drive. Luckily we stopped by because as soon as he went around the corner the car lost complete power. He had to jump start it to drive it into the garage. He checked and confirmed that the alternator was bad so needed to be replaced. He suggested replacing with an OEM the same brand as the original part so it'll last Ionger. The cost was $850 for labor and parts and will take ~3 hours. We needed to get it fixed so we left the car there. After about an hour, he called and said the seal in the power steering pump is broken and asked if we wanted to replace it. On the Honda CRV the pump sits right above the alternator so he needed to remove that first to get to the alternator. If the fluid continues to leak, it might compromise the new alternator. We asked him to replace the seal and it was another $150. Apparently the power steering fluid has been slowly leaking directly into the alternator for a while. He didn't exactly say that was the cause of the alternator going back but it could not have been good. He ended up flushing the power steering pump because all the sediments and also power washed the whole engine. He didn't charge us extra for the wash. I'm not sure what he quoted for the job was a good price or not since we really didn't price shop but he certainly did a great job and was super nice. I'd like to hear if others think the price was fair. Based on his service and the fact that he explained what needs to be done, I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area. read more

Quality of service here is extremely low. They are focused on only pushing unnecessary services and taking advantage of the elderly. BASIC MAINTENANCE IS IGNORED. Pissed me off enough to write a review. My grandfather recently took his car there and was charged for over $700 for various flush and unnecessary cleaning services, including cleaning the corrosion on the battery. Ok. I get it. You are a business. He already doesn't speak English well and decided to trust the mechanic. Just two days later, his battery dies and he is stranded somewhere for over 2 hours, late at night. My biggest problem isn't pushing unnecessary services, it's how they didn't even do basic battery voltage test even after charging for cleaning services on it AND overcharging him already. AT LEAST DO YOUR JOB TO MAINTAIN THE CAR. Maybe you should've charged to replace a new battery if the voltage is low. The most BASIC maintenance checks are ignored. It is very concerning to see an elderly customer being treated like this. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

6/1/18 Postscript: Today my car became immobilized while waiting in the left-hand turn lane of a busy, rush-hour Brea Canyon Road intersection. I called AAA on my cell for a tow, but was given an ETA of more than an hour. I had no choice but to acquiesce to the interminable wait on a hot afternoon amid a swarm of angry drivers finding their way around me--but called Brian with no thought in mind but to inform him I'd be coming and hoping he wouldn't close before I did. What did Brian do? He dropped everything to drive out and rescue me. Somehow he resusitated my lifeless Chevy Avalanche, got it out of the intersection and back to his shop--where it now sits under his benevolent care--then gave me a lift home. I just moved to the area and was a bit nervous about finding an honest place to work on my Jeep. After a run on some trails, my rear sway bar knocked into my brake like Mount and bent the line, causing a leak. I decided to shoot over to praise to have it looked at and Bryan and Ramon really went the extra mile to not only repair the line, but adjust both rear mounts to prevent it from happening again. I was pretty happy with the results and the friendly atmosphere at Praise. I'm already back for an oil change and a diagnosis for another issue. I called to make an appointment. When I brought the car in the owner Had no idea who I was. I had two issues: none working ac and motor oil leak. He wanted to charge me $1800 for the oil leak alone. Dude said VQ35 engines require both valve covers because the gaskets are one piece with the valve covers-false. He said each valve cover is $300-also false. The genuine Nissan gaskets can be purchased separately online for roughly $70 to $80 each. The valve cover and gasket are $150 shipped. So I told him not to fix it and I'll take it else where. Got charged $135 diagnostic fee for nothing, because his diagnosis is false. Took it to N&J Auto, ac is fixed for $90 now ice cold. Oil leak fixed for $300 no more leak, engine runs smooth, quiet and no longer vibrates. Don't trust this shop, go somewhere else. They will quote you the highest prices for the smallest issues and tried make it sound extremely major. Just like Honest-1 Auto did. read more
