While there are places on the internet one can get quality systems from, I'm a hands on person so I like to go in, check out computers and talk to people while customizing. Moreover, I like to walk around and Micro Center appeals to my inner nerd. So, what does Microcenter offer, well lots of computers, accessories and everything an aspiring nerd needs to enter the digital world in style. If you're a graphical artist, they have drawing tables and stylist, musically inclined they have adapters to cover that too along with software but I encourage research or talking to a sales rep before buying. How about that keyboard that fits those tired hands? I see a dozen options before we even get into the backlit keyboards. Mice with over 20 buttons for those hardcore gamers will also tempt you. How about a laptop for computing on the go? Well that "buying best" place can only dream of as many options. As for me, while I've built my computer before I decided to let MicroCenter take care of it. The installation cost was low and I was able to build my "super computer" for cheap, a warranty and it was done within three days. What was a lot of fun is the saleman and I talked for about 45 minutes about World of Warcraft b/c he's a player as well. Although he did try and sell me a monitor however I have that covered. I did browse the TV section out of curiosity and noticed their prices and inventory are competitive with other stores as well. I'll admit, I love this place and it's my first option when I need a computer. I like talking to people and discussing options rather than grabbing it off a website. Micro Center has an informed sales staff, a lot of inventory and competitive prices for everything you may need, including phones! During this time, this "tech" said that my wife needed to get an external video card, then showed her a GT 1030 on Amazon. When I got home, I removed the graphics card in her computer, and put it in mine, it worked fine. She texted him, and told her that there was no way I was able to do this, as the video card is soldered in. I looked at the picture she sent me, and it looks like this tech was "testing" off of the onboard video card, and he pointed to the back of the computer where a graphics card would go. Somehow in the hour that the tech said he looked at her computer, he somehow didn't look at the entire glass side of the computer and didn't see there is already a GTX 4070 graphics card in there. As she was asking more questions he sent back, "I can see that your looking for a way out / to not to have to pay for my x1 hour service call x2 Comments... I don't care who you would have called / no one would cary every possible video card to be compatible with every PC. 2nd / At this point 1 am simply going to 'wave' my x1 hour minimum fee, so you can find somebody else to troubleshoot the problem... Good luck and hope you find a solution to your PC's video problems..." I've not had a service person be so rude, after not even trying to do their job. There is a difference between looking not pay for something and getting what you pay for. I ended up taking my wife's computer elsewhere. They were able to diagnose that the motherboard was bad, replaced it, and everything was working by the next day. I will not ever be bringing my computer to this company, and letting anyone I know, not to do business here.

Completely unprofessional and broke my SIM reader during a simple battery replacement…read more I brought my phone here specifically to have the battery and the charging port replaced. The phone worked perfectly fine otherwise; because the charging port was loose, I had simply been using a wireless charger for over a year, and I just wanted a fresh battery that held a charge longer. While they had my phone, they called me to claim my storage was full and asked if they could delete some of my games. I asked why they were even accessing my internal storage for a strictly physical hardware repair, and the woman immediately got very defensive. I explicitly told them to just do the work I requested. They then sent me photos claiming to show "water damage" on an internal chip. However, the photos showed absolutely no identifying details--no IMEI number or serial number--so I have no way of knowing if those pictures even came from my actual device. When I picked up my phone, it immediately showed a "Not Connected to Network" error. I pulled out the SIM tray and discovered my physical SIM card wasn't even in its slot; it was just floating loose on top of the tray. I have tried to re-seat the SIM card properly into the tray slot seven different times. Every single time I slide the tray back into the phone, something inside catches the card and forces it out of place, causing it to come unseated and lose network connection. When I called to report that my network connection and SIM reader were broken by their technicians, they casually just told me to bring it back. I am incredibly frustrated by the lack of professionalism, the unauthorized access to my storage, and the fact that a simple battery swap resulted in a phone that now cannot connect to a cellular network. Avoid this place. UPDATE they would claim no responsibility for anything. They said my phone was like that when it came in which is a gd lie. They know it and it know it. Better business bureau and Missouri Attorney General office is my next step after flooding the internet with this review. 2nd Update Took my phone to another repair shop who discovered that not on my had they broke the antenna inside so it could not make calls or messages, the battery they supposedly replaced is either faulty or they damaged it too. It will not charge above 1% on either a wireless or a direct cord connection and it gets extremely hot. Too hot to touch so ihad to unplug it to prevent a possible explosion of the battery. I ended up having to buy a new phone for $1299 because of their horrible service. They got pissed because I called them out on going through my phone so I guess they decided to get back. Look who's laughing now. I can afford a new phone. They're going to have to deal with the attorney general's office and the better business bureau as I have filled complaints with both. Plus they can deal with the loss of business from my reviews posted on TRUSTPILOT, YELP, GOOGLE,NEXT DOOR. People do look at reviews. As soon as I find more places to post reviews I will be doing so. After several weeks without hearing anything, finally called them to check in on the status only to find that during a customer software upgrade I had been lost in the shuffle. A dozen days later, called back only to find out that they were still working on options and would call back. No call came so I called again and was told that since our laptop was so old it was not really worth fixing (not terribly surprising, but I wanted to try!). As I mentioned the guys here are nice, so we brought in a second laptop for repair and decided to sell the first one to them for parts. (Recycling at it's best!) This time around I still found that if we didn't call them, we had no idea what was going on. In the end the second laptop was fixed to our satisfaction but we didn't know how much it was going to cost until we came to pick it up. When it came time to settle up the credit for the first laptop and the repair on the second, I noticed the coupon we had brought in when we dropped off the first laptop had been lost. Luckily when I pointed out it was missing from the final receipt they made good on the original offer. I will be checking yelp for new reviews before I came to this place again hoping to see there has been improvement in these two areas: -Communicate with your customers on a timely and regular basis -Clearly communicate (at least estimates) of what the cost will be

When the macbook, which is nearly 9 years old started lagging and needed new ram, I bought it and install it myself. Now I wanted to up date the PC. While the MacBook was easy, the PC immediately crashed. It took 10 minutes to get to the operating system and then it couldn't find Windows 10. Had I screwed up my computer? I immediately thought of Geek Squad at Best buy. There was a store down the street and they were reputable right? A minimum of $85 + parts. So I found these guys on Yelp, free estimate yaay! I took it to their shop and the repair guy quietly listened to my story and then told me he would not repair my PC. I asked why. He said: "You obviously know how to install RAM. You bought some bad RAM, remove it and return it. Once you remove it, it should go back to it's old self." I went home and did it and lo and behold it started working fine again, new ram on order from Amazon. Direct Computer outlet could have charged me, but they were honest and upfront. This is service you don't get anymore, as everyone has to hit quota numbers now. If you have a PC and want an honest assessment, I suggest these guys.

The Guy's name is Phil and the nice, sweet lady that works there with her little adorable child were awesome they went far and beyond' what any store would normally do just to help and please their customer' I was impressed after buying the first laptop. it was blazing fast! faster than any computer we had so I came back to them and asked for two more computers... and then just recently a few days ago I just came back to get two more! laptops. if you don't believe me, you can ask me or leave me a comment and i will even provide anyone with my personal phone number to verify I'm a 100% real customer and person. i can also provide pictures of my laptops as well. I loved all my computers and extras'' that i sent them some pizza' in gratitude because I am so thankful' for what he Phil and they did. THEY DESERVE IT!
