The service at this store has gotten worse. The men stationed at the Men's department were not very receptive or helpful even though the store was empty -- I had to make eye contact and say something to get service. They're taking that "not pushy" sales tactic to a whole new level but honey, puh-leeze, it's tiring. I'm afraid their men's shoe collection is a bit stale. The shoe line has changed little over the years (same old Americas cup sneakers with tiny variations in color and material, with maybe the more recent addition of converse style shoes). But it's still Prada. The quality, detail, and workmanship is still there especially in the leathers, and their design is still somehow unique after all these years of others trying to copy them. read more

This store in famous because it was designed by the It architect of the early twenty first century, Rem Koolhaus. In truth, the store is more art than artifice. When you enter, you are greeted by a beautiful curved canyon display which changes regularly. It looks a lot like a sliding board, and if I were a kid I would slide. I don't know if the layout of the store is conducive to shopping, but it is certainly beautiful to admire. The entrance is like a hallway lined with a few bags and shoes. The opposite end of the store has nylon Prada Sport merchandise. While this is classic Prada, I almost think the brand could do away with these goods, as they hark back to a less elegant, less interesting version of Prada, before the brand revamped and became what it is today. An entire section dedicated to these goods is wasted space. If they want to feature Prada Sport, find the good stuff. The Ala Moana Honolulu Prada Sport store is incredible, as is the selection at Saks. I would expect to find better stuff at the flagship. The best merchandise is downstairs in little cubbies. Each little room is dedicated to an array of beautiful items. This is where the real Prada goods can be found. I love ogling the beautiful designs that are seemingly endless, room after room. The display section separates the clothes from the bags and shoes section. I would have to say, I think the nylon bags are over featured, as well as the plain Prada Sport shoes. Boring! Since this store is so artistic, I would think they could feature the most expensive items, as opposed to cluttering the store with cheap nylon goods. Nothing in this store makes me want to buy. I only found two things that I wanted and even that was a stretch. This is travesty, because every girl wants Prada. I blame the layout, because the good clothes are crammed together, and there is a vast overabundance of nylon. Despite these drawbacks, it is Prada, and anything Prada is prime. The clothes are displayed like Museum pieces. I couldn't find price tags on many of them. There is this large ramp that you can slide down (at your own risk). And another large ramp with steps where they display boots and shoes. The space is spacious. The shoes are okay- but for the price range, I'd expect something better. They do have nice dresses. Though if you're shopping for casual wear, this is definitely not the place to go. They have spare items and no selection, however nice the displays may be. The people that I came in contact with were extremely condescending. Oh, and the guards were completely anal. The service people have a tough job here I think. Most of the time they are friendly but they let you look without disturbing you - too many tourists coming in to see the space and not really interested in buying anything. Once they are engaged, and that is not always easy if it's very busy, they are very helpful and go out of their way to cater to you, whether you're buying or not. And some of these shoppers are soooo demanding and obnoxious, I can't believe how rude people can be. The last time I was there the store was closing but they never once tried to hurry me or tell me to leave. (I ended up buying a nice jacket.) The store is beautiful as everyone has said. And I think the quality of Prada clothes has gotten much better over the years, surprisingly. Many years ago I thought the construction of their men's suits especially left a lot to be desired, considering the prices. Now, the fabric, cut, and stitching is on par with the prices (well, as much as anything can be at the prices they charge). Some of their pieces are just beautiful. As prior customers (my wife), we were extremely disappointed with our latest visit to the store. Upon arrival, my wife had her eye on a pair of boots. With a few SA's around the area and only another couple clients being attended to, no one took the time to greet us or ask my wife if she needed a size/help. I really like this location, I love the architecture, the only thing why I took away a star is the architecture, my mother nearly stripped on the stairs. Quite Steep. but other than that I love the cubic designs where the clothing and shoes and bags are downstairs. I also almost bought a pair of flats but we decided on Miu Miu. Isnt that funny? I might be biased because I believe Prada is incredibly awesome, but this is the store I make a chance to stop by every time I swing by SoHo. Plus, its conveniently right across the street from my gym. Just by looking at the building itself, Prada is awesome. They have a cool design that pretty much looks like a skateboard ramp. Sweet layouts, plenty of men's clothing, and much more for womens. Great service here. I dropped by one day to buy a duffel bag, and the one I wanted was the last one they had in stock. This is going to come off as another pretentious review (Thanks, NYC), but here it goes: I bought a nice suit from Prada a few weeks ago. While I won't say the exact cost,it was pretty expensive. Every guy needs a few nice suits in their collection, and this Prada suit was the a suit that you could either wear to the office or to a night out on the town. Here is the thing..they did alterations on the suit once. It came back and the suit still wasn't as expected. Instead of going through the list of alterations right then (I was in a rush). this time, the alterations were actually were going to cost me money! Apparently, they only do alterations ONE TIME on each suit purchase. This really rubs me the wrong way..if the suit is pricey, alterations should be free for at least 1-2 years. Anyway, the alteration costs here are astronomical. Forget it. I will say this..the customer service is phenomenal. The store is in SoHo so employees may not be able to get to you right away, but when they do, they will spend time with you without regard to other customers. read more

I've got a thing for elevators and the one at Prada was definitely made for chillin. Hot day? Heels killing you? Child won't stop fidgeting? Then step in, take a seat, and take a ride in the Prada elevator. You might even confuse it for a ride at Disneyland. I love this elevator. It's slow. It's smooth. It has air conditioning. It's bigger than my bedroom. It's circular. It's got perimeter seating. It's clean. Yea, it's one of those elevators where you can actually touch the sides. Just don't do anything naughty (like take pictures). After all, it is made of glass and they are watching. No papparazzi! The Prada store is such a unique experience, visually speaking. They change their motif every few months and the clothes are just exquisite if old lady and rub it in your face rich is your style. I will say they have nice shoes but really, this season's furry hair on everything has really got to go. From the ramp to the basement's mirrored maze, the store really awakens your senses. From outside, the store looks more than stunning. Once you step in, it is stunning - in that the design gives you vertigo. There is a huge sinkhole in the middle of the floor, artfully crafted out of light wood with steps embedded for customers to access the downstairs collection. Once you get down there, the area is reminiscent of a bank vault, with shelving fixtures that appear movable and are altogether too close to each other, assistants who come out of nowhere, and you wondering if you are allowed to be there. Product-wise, I love the bright patent collection, but a dark leather bocce ball carrier was the most unique. read more

So I really love to hate Rem Koolhaas (who designed this store) and I really love to hate Prada, but I just love to love this store. Prada is Prada, and it has to be your taste for you to enjoy it. I admit that they make beautiful and extremely high-quality products (their shoes are amazing to me), but you can get Prada products in most major world cities. The reason to visit this store is the store itself. Designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, it is absolutely gorgeous and the products' appeal is entirely enhanced by the fact that the stunning, modern interiors accentuate Prada's luxury appeal. Finished with beautiful, luxurious materials and very typical of Koolhaas' design aesthetic for those who keep up with him, it is a very unique experience among SoHo's other high-end retail outlets. I almost thought Rem would consider himself too cool to "sell out" and design a retail store for Prada, but I guess he even loves it as much as he loves himself. The interior void (kind of like a big, gorgeous wooden canyon) is supposed to turn into a public performance space, but it's also used to display some of Prada's finest and most expensive merchandise (large luggage and the like), but it's exhilarating either way. I can't say I've even been in a retail store that excites me quite the way this one does without considering the products they actually sell. The staff at Prada won't allow you to take photographs here (they should know this is going to be a star attraction among their retail outlets), but that doesn't mean you can't look around, and if you're really into it, maybe sketch the spaces. I really want to go back to look around one more time - It's truly wonderful. read more

This place is so awesome and so fun to be in, esp. if you're not buying anything but you happen to be with other people who are. So my second visit to this Prada store was the end of last year and just as cool as I remember it. It's part art museum, art installation, small pocket rooms with women's clothing and men's clothing. I was stuck in the men's department for duration of this last visit since my big brother was the one buying clothes but I did get to sneak downstairs to women's section and dig through all their expensive couture lines. So the men's department can be somewhat boring to linger around unless you are a shopping man, otherwise if you're a girl it gets boring. The salesman my brother had was very nice and accomodating and offered us different waters including sparkling. I just wanted to wander around and go downstairs to get a closer look at the displays which were so cool to see. The salesman said they rotate the displays so the next time I come they will be different but he also said I needed to go shopping and buy something which I thought was funny. So you can take the stairs or the round glass elevator to go to the lower level. I'm not that lazy so I just walked down. The women's clothes are really expensive and are mush different than the styles you see in other stores. I think Prada carries their more beautiful items only in Prada stores. I was happy I was able to dig around and touch all the clothes with my mitts and really feel what an $8,000 dress feels like. No one bothered me, it really was like being in a museum. I explored all the other downstairs rooms but by the time I went back upstairs my big brother still trying on suits. I don't have much to say since I didn't buy anything but if you are apt to buy a luxury item by Prada, check out this store because it's design is completely different than other stores. It's also a floor through so you can walk in from Broadway and out back on to Mercer St. There used to be a methadone clinic nearby. The first time I came here I remember seeing someone on the ground having a seizure. It may be gone because I didn't see any junkies this last visit. read more

Kathleen is a great sales rep! Got my heels and sneaker wedges here & she was very helpful and honest when asked if something looked good on me or not. Kathleen was great with calling me back when my size 10s came in ( I have big feet lol) , she didn't blow me off & think I was a window shopper just wasting her time. Got the call & went in to pick them up the next day. Even though she was off , she put them aside for me & I hadn't even paid for me yet. Can't wait for my new Fall boots to arrive!! I had NO room in my luggage for a pair of boots and it was TOO hot & humid to wear them out. Luckily, they ship to your home for $20. Sales associates aren't that helpful. I just point, try on and buy. They didn't have a size 6 in the stock room but by the grace of baby jesus, they had a pair someone had put on hold and sold them to MOI! I had such a great experience in the store from the moment I walked in the door. I was pleasantly greeted with an offer of hand sanitizer and gloves and a temperature check. The set up of the store was simply astonishing. Then the best part was when I went downstairs and met Rachel. She has brought to me a pair of shoes to try on and gave me a whole tour of the store. The store is way before its time and has so many cool features that she showed us all around the store. The store is really nice and Rachel was amazing! read more

The architecture is phenomenal! Needless to say, nothing Rem Koolhaas touches is less than fabulous! I love, love, LOVE Madama Miucchia Prada but unfortunately, I can't say I have the same feelings of adoration for the Prada Soho location. I love the interior design of it more than the overall shopping experience. I only come here for the Prada Sport collection since the Prada Madison store doesn't have as extensive selection as the Prada Soho. The Sales people here are rather snooty and aloof. It is way too hectic here especially on weekends when it's super packed with tourists and so it's near impossible to get any assistance. Ironically enough, I rarely ever buy anything at this location and the Prada 5th Ave. location because of the madness. read more

My experience with Prada was a pure disappointment:( By buying a designer pair of shoes, you pay not just for the looks but also for a good quality. I bought 2 pairs of shoes - boots and espadrilles. Boots - in a SOHO location. Wore both pairs a couple of times and both shoes were destroyed. And I mean IT - ripped apart. Espadrilles I returned to the store (another location) and they gave me a full refund. The boots I brought to SOHO store and they said they'll repair it. I WAS PROMISED that they'll replace soles ( as both soles literally detached from a boot itself) which was fine with me, since I didn't have any intention on giving them away, I really liked that pair. So, the repair took 3 months and when I finally received a phone call and I came to pick them up- not only they DIDN'T replace a sole, they didn't even bother to do a descent job in general. What they did - literally took a glue and glued it together ‍ ghetto there still were cracks in the sole and when I pointed them out, I was told that it's the way it should be ‍ in other words - it's expected! Now I have a pair of Prada boots that have cracks in it and when it is going to rain, I literally would have to have my feet wet :( Anyway, the moral of this story is - don't buy this brand! There are many other luxury brand shoes that exist out there and to chose from:) if u really decide to buy this brand - then simply DON'T GO TO THIS LOCATION! WORST STORE EVER This is the letter I sent to the complaint department: Dear Mr. Benedicto: If you can help me with this matter, I would greatly appreciate it. I am at the end of my rope! On September 1, 2007 I went into the Soho PRADA store. I bought one pair of black, patent leather maryjanes for $396.63. I happily took my new pair of shoes back to my apartment. I wore them once to Misshapes and once on a date in October. One of them got stuck in a street grate and it scuffed the heel a bit. I didn't wear them after that. On December 22nd, I called the store TWICE to confirm that in fact PRADA does their own repairs. This person explained that they can repair it, or I can replace the one shoe for a fee. Usually it's $20-50. That afternoon, I went back to the same store that I bought them from (in Soho). I explained that I scuffed the heel and that I would like to get them fixed. I showed them the original receipt. The first person I spoke to told me that they don't do that. The second person I spoke to said that they weren't sure if it could be fixed, that they would send it to Milan to see if it could be fixed and they would call me. I don't see why this is such a big deal. PUMPS GET SCUFFED ALL THE TIME! IT'S NEW YORK CITY FOR GODSSAKES. People walk a lot. For him not to know whether it could be fixed or not is annoying. Then this same man explained that they only needed the scuffed shoe. He put the other one back in the bag and then in the box. I explained that I would be moving to California soon and I gave him my California address. He took my credit card information for the shipping from Milan and sent me on my way. I don't understand why I would have to pay for shipping for a possibly still scuffed shoe. I was told, by the way, that this whole process would take 4-6 weeks to receive my shoe back. ONE MONTH later, a woman named Vanessa called me, explaining that I needed to send her my other shoe. She explained that nothing I was told was right. They still needed to assess both shoes, possibly needed to send them to Milan, and that I may or may not need to replace the scuffed one, and didn't offer an estimated price. After a week of trying to figure out what the hell is going on over there, that I have to send my shoe to them, I finally got the address. Vanessa told me to send my shoe to: PRADA Attn: Vanessa 575 Broadway New York, NY 10012 She never said anything about needing a signature to receive the package. I sent the shoe via USPS with delivery confirmation on February 1, 2008. She called me the week of the 14th stating that she still hadn't received the shoe. I checked my confirmation from USPS. It said that it was delivered and received February 4, 2008 at 4:10 p.m.. I called and left Vanessa a message a week later stating that it was confirmed to have been received by the address. She never called me back. Today, February 28, 2008, I called and spoke to Edwin. He said that Vanessa wasn't in, but that he is the manager of the shoe repair department. I told him what happened, he took my number and said he's call Vanessa. He called me back, said she didn't answer. He said that they require signatures to accept packages. I told him that I didn't request a signature. He said that the package was probably left at the door, which meant that it was most likely lost or stolen. In that case, it wasn't PRADA's problem. He said he couldn't do anything for me until he received the second shoe. I explained that I would have left it at the store the day I went in on December 22nd, if the employees at the store wouldn't have told me to keep it. He said, again, that it wasn't his problem and that he couldn't do anything for me until Vanessa came in. If she didn't have the shoe, there was nothing he could do. When I asked about the $396.63 I had spent on the shoes, he said that he couldn't give me the money until he received the shoe. I am tired of dealing with this. I'm exhausted. It's been over two months. I keep having to tell the same drawn out story over and over again. All I wanted was the scuff fixed. I am not asking for world peace or to end world hunger. Now they have lost my shoe, they are holding the other one for ransom and at this point I have no shoes and I am out $400 and a BUNCH OF MY TIME to deal with what should have been a non-issue. ** MY MOST RECENT ENCOUNTER THIS PAST MONDAY** I don't know whether I was pissed off that I was unable to return a gift that I had purchased. Unused, brand new in box w/ everything in it. I wanted to do an exchange for something else. However I was unable to because apparently the DATE OF PURCHASE was stamped in the back of the card was a month past due. OR The fact that I had called the store via telephone and was transfer to a JOANNA/ JOHANNA (whatever her name was) - I told her the issue and the fact that I did not have the purchase receipt w/ me. I asked her if she could look me up by my name, telephone or something to see when it was purchase because I was unsure.. She took my number down and said she would call me back in a few minutes. Half an hour goes by w/ no phone calls.. then an hour.. Nothing. So I decided to call back and ask to speak to her again, she told whomever answered the phone she would call me back. Nope, didn't even bother. The fact that I could have avoided a trip to the actual location. When JOANNA/ JOHANNA is an EMPLOYEE OF PRADA, apparently clueless. She could have told me to just look at the back of the Prada Card. OR actually did her job and looked up my information in the system. OR actually returned my phone call. But she did NONE OF THOSE. I HIGHLY WOULD AVOID JOANNA/ JOHANNA & REQUEST TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO CALL THE STORE PERSONALLY FOR AN ISSUE. OR IF YOUR IN THE STORE & THAT NAME COMES UP - STEER CLEAR - SHE MIGHT LIE TO YOU - EARN HER COMMISSION THAT SHE DOESN'T DESERVE - ONCE THE PURCHASE IS FINALIZED & YOU DECIDE YOU WANT TO DO AN RETURN OR EXCHANGE WITHIN THEIR RETURN POLICY. - YOU MIGHT POTENTIALLY BE SCREWED. The wife and I stopped in during our trip to NYC. Although the service was alright, the check out process was reminiscent of a trip to the DMV. They first require that you create an account to be able to purchase an item and will even make you create an account if all you're doing is paying for said item. After giving our shopper, Carly, all of our information we assumed the checkout process would be simple. Unfortunately, that was not the case. She proceeds to charge my card and I receive a notification from my bank letting me know that the transaction did not go through. Instead of having them run it again, we decide that we will just purchase the item when we return to DC. This is where things really started to go left. The store proceeded to charge my card again without my authorization and even shipped the item to THE WRONG STATE. This was two weeks ago and the charge is still there on my credit card bill even though their customer service team let us know that the refund had been initiated. Would advise anyone to stay away from this location. It is clear that they are just trying to meet their quota and banking on the fact that mainly tourists shop there and that they won't have to deal with them again in person. the devil wears prada. ...except i am the devil's daughter :) the soho store is aesthetically pleasing, thanks to rem koolhaas's whimsical visions. the upstairs feels like a playground with a huge wooden skateboard ramp and the downstairs is like a museum, featuring some of their best (and i don't mean their fugly nylon bags) merchandises. our salesman eric was extremely nice and accommodating even when we came in looking pitifully drenched in rain. we instantly became best friends (we totally shared the same favorite prada products), and he really played a big part in our purchase. his utmost attention and service was seemingly different than any other high end retail stores i had experienced in south coast plaza. i have no regret nor feel guilty in spending a hefty amount of money for this prada bag. it was a gift to my wonderful mom who taught me how to appreciate quality, timeless products. and trust me...prada does turn a devil into an angel. you should give it a try :) read more

AMAZING design work. one of the most impressive designer desinger shops (Rem Koolhaas) in Nueva York besides Asprey (Lord Foster).
