I've done personal training at Phoenix in the past and they also have classes. I went to a barbell…read moreclass recently and had a lot of fun. The personal training sessions were useful for me because I started working out at home during the pandemic and wanted to make sure I was using proper form during strength exercises. It was cool to try out different equipment I normally wouldn't have access to at home, like the sled (I felt like a pro football player pushing that thing), barbells, boxes, rower machines, etc. I was also pushed to go a little harder than I might during my own home workouts, but never to a point where I felt like I might be injured. My personal trainer worked with me to modify any movements I needed, and listened to my preferences when it came to full body vs. upper/lower body workouts. Of course there were some exercises I didn't particularly love (*cough cough* wall ball slams), but the point is to be challenged because that's when growth happens! Sounds corny but it's true. The barbell class was super fun. It was a small group of six and we started with warmups and agility, then moved into different barbell exercises like deadlifts and shoulder presses. We ended with some core work and it was a great workout! I was definitely sweating but loved the supportive and fun atmosphere of the class. They also offer other group classes like yoga and have memberships or drop in rates. The facility is super clean and there's lots of parking. It's a woman-owned gym that feels very inclusive and welcoming.

David is not like your typical PT because even though I was there for my ankle, he has helped me understand more about the pain in my body. As a survivor of childhood trauma, I have actually suffered with chronic pain since I was 17 starting with endometriosis. Even as a nurse, I learned a lot about myself and how my whole person affects my perception of pain including how my childhood trauma is connected to all of this mess. If you suffer with pain of any kind whether acute or chronic I highly recommend making an appointment with David today!! I've posted some pictures of my injury to give you an idea of what he had to work with.

At the beginning of my training with Cody (The owner) the inappropriateness of speaking on my relationship to the point where neither my boyfriend and i felt comfortable with me continuing to go there. As well as how uncomfortable he made me feel as he would complain about his girlfriend while she was sitting at the desk a few feet away when i never initiated or pursued conversations about his personal life. Asking if he could go out with me because he knows i have "hot friends" or doing a certain workout and me telling him it was "too tight' in reference to the machine, clearly. And him chuckling and saying "I bet." And that's one of many incidences. The level of unprofessional-ism with the owner Cody was unreal. When i told him i had found a new trainer to save money, instead of working with me he immediately started making rude remarks about my family/ financial situation. First comment, was about the vacation i had recently taken. Second comment, he told me "ask your daddy for some money i know he has it coming out of everywhere" Third comment, "how much is your rent even?" Asking in regards to why i couldn't continue to afford his training. Which personally i feel is beyond out of line in itself. As a trainer/ health coach i feel as if you should want the very best for your client.. and he was in fact the opposite only looking out for himself. If you do plan on training with Cody, do not put too much trust in him as a coach. He only cares about his pocket not actually giving you the attention and detailed exercise program and the support. Also be prepared for continuous condescending remarks in regards to his training and life. As well as the level of inappropriateness that he showed me as a women.

It was $30! I could get a whole month membership near home for that! Here you're looking at a cool $100+ per month. Whew! BUT... seems like you get your money's worth. You have access to personal trainers, not sure if there's an extra fee. I saw one working with a couple guys and she was not routine trained planet fitness "trainer"! She was dedicated to them and pushed them to do more while having them do strength training exercises that were definitely not scripted. She seemed like the real deal. The gym has classes in cycling, cardio aerobics, yoga and more. As a member you get access to those at no extra fee. The gym is 3 floors with a host of cardio and strength training equipment sure to meet all you needs. Oh they have a turf room too. That was pretty sweet. Then to end your workout you go to the locker room and honestly I've only seen something this fancy in the movies. You got a sauna, clean bath towels, wood faced lockers, a warm carpeted floor, showers, bathrooms, hairdryers in front of private vanities with hair gel and lotion. I mean common!! It nice. Anywho it was clean, the ambiance is right, the staff are amazing so this location is getting 5 stars.

Which is more than the average small gym in the U.S. of A. Music is typically low-key...unless you happen to be on the upper floor during their bootcamp/class time. This gym is clean, staff is kind, and parking is metered unless you stop in after meter hours. This includes the weekend.
