It was $30! I could get a whole month membership near home for that! Here you're looking at a cool $100+ per month. Whew! BUT... seems like you get your money's worth. You have access to personal trainers, not sure if there's an extra fee. I saw one working with a couple guys and she was not routine trained planet fitness "trainer"! She was dedicated to them and pushed them to do more while having them do strength training exercises that were definitely not scripted. She seemed like the real deal. The gym has classes in cycling, cardio aerobics, yoga and more. As a member you get access to those at no extra fee. The gym is 3 floors with a host of cardio and strength training equipment sure to meet all you needs. Oh they have a turf room too. That was pretty sweet. Then to end your workout you go to the locker room and honestly I've only seen something this fancy in the movies. You got a sauna, clean bath towels, wood faced lockers, a warm carpeted floor, showers, bathrooms, hairdryers in front of private vanities with hair gel and lotion. I mean common!! It nice. Anywho it was clean, the ambiance is right, the staff are amazing so this location is getting 5 stars.

We immediately signed up for a 5-session package. And I'm definitely sore the day after, but in the best possible way :) It's also right next door to a tea and spice shop, so we went and got some iced teas and sat outside afterwards. Given it's location of being downtown, the only option is to pay for street (metered) parking or use their parking ramp. The idea of paying for a gym membership and then paying for parking each time is a huge deterrent for me! It would make me not want to go nearly as much, however, that is only one part of the gym-going experience! It was very easy to find, and at 7am, it isn't as busy as other times of the day. I like that the app shows you the "crowd meter" but I'm realizing I don't fully understand how they gauge it. It showed that it was low but there was quite a few people around! And when I went to a different location, it showed "more people" but looked like it was completely empty. There are a lot of machines and an upstairs for cardio (and downstairs too), so there is always something you can do if you're waiting for anything in the strength training space. I liked the layout and everyone there was really respectful. Very clean too!

Pricy but great community classes…read more Funky Buddha has become a staple yoga studio in west Michigan and this downtown location is no exception. While I haven't been to the other Funky Buddha locations recently, I can say this spot is fantastic. Instructors are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and the space is always clean. One big down side to this downtown location is that they do not validate parking, which is disappointing especially because the theatre and hot dog place validate it. So unless you find street parking or live in walking distance that is an expense for you need to account for. Prices are a also bit high, but honestly it's on trend with other workout studio pricing. Unlimited memberships are only worth if if you plan to go to yoga at least once a day, but it does allow you to go to any of their locations. Regular drop ins are around $30, and that is pricy. BUUUT they do have $5 community classes every Tuesday and Thursday evening. That's definitely worth it and it's when I recommend going. Overall 4/5 stars. And if you haven't already, take advantage of their community classes.

They have showers (three in the women's restroom and one in the men's restroom) and a dry bar with multiple hair dryers to dry your hair. The studio itself is a bit on the smaller size (holds about 45 people) compared to the Eastown studio. The ceiling is cool with the sound absorbing tiles in the shape of their diamond logo. They offer morning, afternoon, and evening classes, which makes it great for people looking for a workout before work, on a lunch break, or right after work before heading home. There is parking available in the Studio Park lot - currently it's $2 per half hour. No validated parking. The class we took was set to music, which I really like. They're still waiting on some cubbies to be installed but the lobby area is pretty open with room to store coats, shoes, and bags. I don't think I will make this my go-to studio but I do like the option of having a shower or rinse off after class, and since it's in the heart of downtown it's easily accessible for me from my home and office. Drop ins are normally $20 per class but during the week of Jan 5-15 they're only $10!
