Unless you are bringing a ford to this garage, it seems they use your dollars for training. Brought a truck here that I had to pick up and drop off multiple times to get fixed after i was called to pick it up, because it was fixed. Stacey has a melt down when I brought back my truck because the steering was borderline dangerous. They said "it drives like a dream." More like a nightmare. Seriously, he was "having a bad day." The staff said. He couldn't look at me or talk to me in a very small office setting. Super awkward and unprofessional. I would not recommend this shop. Take the extra drive to go to Gomer's diesel in Missoula. Top notch shop. If you want it done right the first or second time, go somewhere else read more

The worst automotive shop I have eve4 dealt with.took my jeep in there running and I get back with hole top end of my engine in box on my front seat and charging me 500 Hundred dollars for work that when I ask to talk to the mechanic they tell me he no longer works .horrible customer service and the owner son was no help and basically told me that there nothing they can do for me.great help read more

I honestly can't say enough amazing things about Power Train Plus. We have had two different vehicles serviced there in the last year, and they have always done an excellent job! For the first vehicle, they were able to schedule us on minimal notice, for a very reasonable price, and they obtained the right parts which had to be ordered from out of town! The second vehicle was a much more important story! Our mother was traveling through Montana and her F-150 truck had mechanical issues after 5:30pm. I immediately called Val and Stacey (the owners of Power Train) and they answered after closing time. They said they were full the next day, but if we were able to bring the vehicle in by 10am, they would work the vehicle into their schedule ASAP. We dropped the vehicle off late (10:15) and they had called our Mom by noon with the diagnosis complete and the vehicle repaired. I only know of Val and Stacey because a friend said they knew a great auto shop and I could give them a call for our vehicle repairs. They were very responsive to help me with a wheel bearing problem. However, when I returned home (1500 miles) my problem was back. Took to a very good mechanic and found out that the wheel that needed a bearing replacement did not have the lug nuts tightened. The mechanic was able to turn them all by hand. In talking to Stacy at Powertrain about this, he hung up on me. They helped me in a bind but did way lower than substandard work. I hope I never have to use them again. I had earlier given them a 5 star rating. Now, not even 1. I was not told the truth and they are trying to protect their 6. Please be aware of this company! read more

We had a very positive experience with Power Train Plus. We were in Bozeman for the day travelling from Helena when our Suburban started acting up and the Check Engine Light started flashing. It was difficult to find anyone that could take us that day but Stacey at Power Train said they could fit us in even though they were closing at 2:00. He even let us borrow his personal car so we could run and grab some lunch while we waited. We had a bad injector that they replaced and got us on the road. I wish the story ended there.... On the way back to Helena we started experiencing the same issue only now it was 7:00 at night and we were half-way home. We took it to our local mechanic and same issue. Same injector. Turns out the part was defective. The repair and diagnosis were spot on, just got a bad part from their supplier so I contacted them. They instantly submitted a claim to their part supplier and we were refunded. Great personal service. read more

Stacy, Andy and Heidi were incredible to work with. They came highly recommended by a friend. We had a check engine light come on in my daughters Toyota 4 Runner. They said to bring it by and they would check the code and get back to us. Andy called and let us know what was needed, they got us in earlier than expected, only did what work was really needed and got the vehicle back within a day. Won't take our cars anywhere else. Super easy scheduling. Very professional on the phone. Just got an oil change but it was quick. Mike called me to let me know I have a DEF leak, instead of pumping me for more money he suggested I take it to the dealership (who has already "fixed" it one time) so I don't have cash out of pocket. So after I take it back to the dealership and they don't fix it again, I will be coming back for that service and all other services after that!! Thanks guys!! read more

I had a check engine light telling me that cylinder 2 was misfiring on my Mazda Tribute. I took it into PowerTrain to fix the problem, explained the symptoms, and told them that the last time I had the vehicle in their shop they had told me to replace the fuel injectors (which I didn't have money for at the time). I also asked them to fix two doors that had broken locks. Three weeks later I called to inquire on the status of the work, and they told me it had been done for a few days -- but they had forgotten to call me. I paid them over $1000. The engine misfired and the check engine light came back on before I even reached home. Only one of the doors was fixed. There were dirty rags and broken door parts left in the vehicle. I have to assume that they actually installed the new parts that they charged me for, but why didn't they test to see if they fixed the problems? I took the vehicle back in a week later, expecting them to make it right and only charge me for new parts since both issues should have been fixed already. They replaced all six plugs and the coil on #2 with one they had "laying around the shop" -- whatever that means -- was it new, used, what? They were unable to find the parts to fix my door (even though my google-foo leads me to a few different sources with 2-day shipping). They charged me for a new coil (I hope it was new), new plugs (even though the plugs in there were less than 2 years old) and 2.5 hours of time. I fail to see how they spent 2.5 hours replacing the plugs -- I did it myself in less than an hour, and the coils have to come out during the process -- so installing the coil should have been included in the labor cost for the plugs. They had my vehicle for over a month in total. The front office guy was very rude, and I suspect that the front office lady I originally talked to failed to give the mechanics all of the information that I provided about the symptoms and what I wanted done. Their mechanics might do good work, but it seems like they just keep replacing parts until they fix an issue rather than spending time to actually diagnose the issue from the get-go. Their office staff seems to be unorganized and their prices seem to be higher than their competition. I highly recommend avoiding this place. Edit (Dec 15, 2016): Now they are threatening me with a lawsuit over this truthful review. Classy. Edit (Dec 16, 2016): In response to Trishia H. You never asked me to take my business elsewhere, I told you I would not be back. You sent me a link to an article stating that leaving a bad review on Yelp could lead to a lawsuit. How was I supposed to take that if it was not a threat? The above review is 100% truth, there is no defamation. I just checked my phone logs, you never called about my vehicle being done. I had to call you. I was not on vacation, I was here in the valley the entire time. If my phone logs are wrong then where was the voice mail? When I called and picked up the vehicle on 11/28 there was no mention of anything else wrong with the vehicle. You had my vehicle in your shop four times for the same issue. The first time you just turned off the check engine light and told me to replace the plugs (which I did myself in less than an hour, and yes the intake has to be removed). You mention the second time my vehicle was in the shop where you ran the motovac and replaced the fuel filter and told me I needed to replace the fuel injectors. I am not rich, so instead of having you do that right away I let my vehicle sit with very minimal use for a year before bringing it back in. The flush and fuel filter did not fix the misfire (you would have known if you test your work, which you apparently don't). When I called to setup the third appointment for this misfire issue, I specifically told you or one of your associates at the front desk that I was having issues with a misfire on cylinder #2 and that I needed you guys to fix it for me. I told you that you had told me to replace the injectors on the previous trip in for the issue, so on top of figuring out the problem, just go ahead and replace those. I _never_ told you to skip the diagnostic, I asked you to fix a problem plus some other work that either needed to be done (doors) or that you told me needed to be done (injectors). Now I do recall being short on a description of the problem the morning that I dropped it off, but I had _already_ told you want I wanted done via a phone conversation when I set up the appointment. You complain that I asked you to fix my doors when you are not a body shop. If this was going to be a problem for you, then why didn't you tell me to take it somewhere else for that work? I was disappointed at the mismatch color of the door handle (especially since I can find handles that are the correct color online), but I told you that it wasn't that big of a deal. Your guy was very rude to me about the broken lock issue, and in response I demanded that you refund my money. read more

They do good work, but you a pay price for it. Seems like they always have too much business to get you in within the week of calling and the bill always comes out higher than the competition estimates. Since it is quite a drive outside of Bozeman and not really in Belgrade, I would expect a better price for repair. read more

We were traveling from San Francisco and were just charged $27.79 to change a tail light. I expressed my unhappiness and the shop owners have been very responsive to my concerns and have refunded the $27 labor charge to change the light bulb. I am therefore satisfied with the service I have received. I suggest that everyone (mechanics and customers) strive for complete communication before any service is performed. read more

I used Power Train many time before but because of my recent visit, I will not be going back. I was changing shocks on my truck and broke a bolt on the bottom shock mount. I brought it in to them to help get out because I couldn't get it and didn't have a torch to try and get it out. I called them and asked them to get the bolt out and replace that shock while they already have the tire off. They finally got it out and charged my 240 dollars. I went and picked my truck up and found that they did pull the bolt out but did not replace the shock and didn't even put a new bolt back in it. I asked them about it and they said they didn't know I wanted them to replace the shock either. Even if I didn't specify to replace the shock (even though I know I did), don't you think a company would replace the shock when it is sitting there on the seat in order to increase their customer satisfaction? They already had the tire off and on a jack, it would have taken them 5 extra minutes to put the shock in. I am not impressed at all and will never be going there again, I also will not be recommending them to anyone. read more
