Great tasting hot dog and sausage! I thought the prices were a little high, but you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't recommend taking your deer here for processing, I've heard from the locals that they had changed hands a few years ago as they told me the place has gone down hill from what it once was. I can only speak when it comes to deer processing as they are unorganized and pricey as I feel you don't get all of your meat. I talked to one of the local farmers and he told me he would not take anymore of his cows up there as he has had problems with them. read more

Almost everything comes from an outside vendor, so no those steaks and ribs probably didn't come locally.

This is a late, but long overdue review. We had been buying meat from a farmer who has since stopped running their operations (a family member passed and they were unable to keep up their operations). The meat they sold us was the best we had ever had and they were taking extra steps to keep their cows free from any pesticides and given them supplemental microgreens. Their meat had a wonderful and unique flavor that was consistent over the months (almost a full year buying from them), it was a very very distinct flavor profile that we've never had. We decided to invest in a half cow from them, they went with Powell to process the meat. On the drive down we happened to check the reviews and we noticed many other reviews stating they had issues with their meat (meat that couldn't be their meat, meat that was old, meat that had a smell they could taste, meat that had a lower yield than what they paid for). We got worried, called the farmer, he told us he had heard similar complaints from locals, but he personally hasn't seen that issue and they were one of the more affordable meat lockers. Once we got home and started cooking the meat it was obvious this was not the same meat quality we had been getting from the farmer. I will echo some of the other reviews, it's like the stench from the locker carries into the meat. And when I say carried I mean it overpowers the meat. My husband was incredibly disappointed. We've had meat from a variety of farmers in the area and this just tasted bad. Unfortunately when we tried to contact the farmer about the meat quality (we were going to let him try it himself as we were so convinced this couldn't be from their herd, it was so drastically different in the color, the taste, the texture, etc) they were beginning to go through their family health challenges. Maybe this is a great place to eat, but I would read other reviews carefully about the meat processing aspect. Also they messed up the order when we picked it up. They had given some cuts that we paid for to the other individual who got the other half of the cow. Fortunately the farmer was able to give us that persons information and we were able to meet up with them to get our meats. I have no way of proving this, but either the meat we received was not from the farmer and it was swapped out for a lesser quality or they don't clean their machines/sanitation is off because it ruined all of our meat. read more

Powell meat is scamming people. I don't know if they are filling their retail coolers with customers meat or if they are keeping it for themselves. I would give them a score of less than 1/5 if possible. I purchased a beef through a farmer that they recommended. The hanging weight for the beef was 258 pounds. Of that 258 pounds, I was shorted 133 pounds of meat. When the meat was weighed I had 125 pounds of meat. I was told by one of the girls who works there that had I bought from them , I would have had 3 more boxes of meat. For $838.50, I should have gotten 258 pounds of meat not 125 pounds which I was given. Like others, I am finding that the dishonesty of this place is appalling. Being shorted over half of the order is theft. Please read other reviews stating meat shortage and quality issues and decide wisely before you buy from this locker. Addendum: While the owner has provided a link attempting to explain why the butcher has stolen your meat, it does not explain the fact I am 133 pounds of meat short. Also, the vacuum seal packs they use leak. Addendum 5/27/23- The hamburger has a horrible smell to it before, during and after cooking it which impregnates into the taste ruining our meals. The ham has an old taste to it as if it sat in a freezer for too long and or was simply old. Please be cautious and use discretion if you choose to use this locker. read more

First time in headed to the lake definitely a very cool place with a lot of stuff to look at. I'll felt like it was a little pricey for the steaks but that's me I would say if you've never been there and you're in that area for sure stop in very cool read more

If I could Leave 0 stars I would. The people who run this place are thieves. I had a 1440 pound cow turn into 360 pounds of meat. I have been buying cows from the same guy for 10+ years and had more meat from an 1100 pound cow. this place is crooked. They get away with it because its like drug dealing they just skim of the top. Never use this place to process your meat. These are the types of places that give butcher shops a bad name. I called over 10 other butcher shops and every single one said they are stealing. no way a 1440 pound cow only produces 360 pounds of meat. thats 25%. And I wouldnt have paid for it, but i dont wanna screw my farmer. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Hired for farm kill to butcher a one year old bull. Pointed out animal in a herd of 50. They moved the truck forward and shot across the vehicle out the window into the herd, shooting and killing a pregnant cow with heifer. We could not believe they killed our 4 year old production cow that we raised from birth. Then he got out and went to shoot correct bull, wounded it, fell multiple times running, took multiple shots to kill. Dressed the cows, left behind the heads, hide, etc and left it all in by he middle of the herd, for in their truck and left. They offered $800 and said meat was trash, we said cow was worth much more. Hung up on me and said they would be paying us nothing for the 2 cows they took and killed. 3 weeks have passed, they have done nothing to make this right. read more

Clinton is fortunate to have such a store as this. An excellent selection of high quality meat with my personal favorites being their filet mignon, hamburger, and brats. The expanded store offers a good selection of bourbon and beer. A one stop shop for an evening at the grill. read more

I live in Marshall, AR. I have business in Lincoln, NE quite often. Every trip I make, I stop at Powell Meat. The variety and quality of steaks and pork is unmatched. Their summer sausage has the best flavor. The options from alcohol to cheese and everything in between is a must visit if you are in the area. read more

I do not recommend this business because they are extremely unorganized. I received a phone call from Powell Meat Company telling me that my processed hog was ready for pick up. When I showed up a few days later, I was told that some of it was still curing. When I went back to pick it up, I waited almost 30 minutes for them to load the meat into my car because they could not find the boxes with my name on it. I did not get everything on my cut sheet, such as organs, which was also disappointing. I did not get a "sorry for the troubles" or a "thank you" from the staff. I will not be doing business with Powell Meat Company again. read more

I took a deer in on December 5, 2020; and $220 and 6 1/2 weeks later still no deer. Story has changed, for the 1st 4 weeks I was told their smoker was broken. Now they can't find the deer or my ticket. Avoid this place and their crappy service. read more
