I haven't bought any meat. I'm just here for the tacos. Tacos? Oh yeah. Every Saturday from 9:30am until sellout (usually between 3:00 and 4:00pm,) this meat market sells tacos. Bring your appetite because they're large. They're tasty, too. Soda and other beverages are available via vending machine. Limited seating is available on site.

My wife and I came here on a Saturday morning to get some of the tacos that are sold here then and we are so glad we did! We got 5 huge tacos- carnitas, carne Asada, chicken tinga, pulled beef, and al pastor. All of them were great and the portions were HUGE. We actually took half the meat from each taco and created another meal for the next day with some fresh tortillas! This place is a wonderful value and we will definitely be back!

Bichelmeyer's is a multi-generational butcher shop offering a wide assortment of prime meats: beef, poultry and lamb. Although we've served their meats for special occasions, this was my first visit to their store to place an order. It reminds me of a classic old-school butcher shop I used to visit as a youngster many years ago. The first thing you notice when you enter is the massive display case of meats. It must be 50 feet long. It's important that you head to the center to pull a number as it gets busy. I arrived around Noon on a Tuesday, pulled number 72 and they were serving customer 60. After about 20 minutes, it was my time to order. I ordered a six pound beef tenderloin roast and the butcher offered to trim it, which saved my wife lots of time when preparing the meat for cooking. We've been impressed by everything we've purchased from Bichelmeyer's. It provides exceptional quality meat like you'd find at Kansas City's best restaurants.

The very best hands down. Quality, quantity and the very freshest and prices in greater KC Service like your family. Ambiance like a full service top of the line meat market. You'll thank me later.

My dad roasting his birthday

My father wanted to roast a pig for his 92nd birthday - said he has been wanting to do it all his life. I came to these guys for some guidance. They set me up very nicely with instructions on how to do it. My father had a blast. Thank you for such excellent customer service.

My first visit was for the Saturday tacos, my second visit was for more tacos, but I was smart enough to bring a cooler and take home some things from the butcher case. The Chuleta (pork chop) taco is one of the best finds in Kansas City. A smoked pork chop cut into small chunks and piled high on a freshly grilled tortilla right in front of you. Add onions and cilantro and then pick your salsa from the condiment table and for $3.00 you have a righteous handful of flavor. Not only did we bring home a roast that we prepared for Sunday dinner today, we stocked up on sausages and bought some hard to find beef bacon for a friend. My 3 dogs were as pleased as I was when we brought them each a cured pig ear to chew on for the afternoon. Bichelmeyer has great quality, friendly customer service, and fair pricing. A KCK institution for decades!

Carne asada. Perfect

A couple of things: I bought a pork belly here once to make a porchetta, the skin was like shoe leather. I felt ripped off. I don't know the difference between the pig that has skin the will roast to cracklings and the pig with the skin that roasts to hard plastic, but THEY ought to and I shouldn't have gotten the latter Everything else that I've gotten there has been good quality. The sausages are good.p and there's a fun variety. The tacos are a triumph. $4.99 but they are very generously portioned and extremely tasty.

Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!

Come for the meat, STAY for the tacos! They are made to order & ready to gobble up! We arrived a little bit before 10am & the line already started building up! They not only serve tacos, but they also have tamale and quesadilla options also. The service is really friendly & fast, but the seating is limited & since it's not restaurant, they only provide vending machine drinks ~ mostly just pop. Also make sure to purchase some of their renowned meats! They smoke/age/make most of the selection. Really reasonable prices & the main reason why their taco meats are so dig dang deeelish! ;)

I wanted to do a Porchetta for Christmas. Unfortunately I didn't realize that I should have ordered the Porchetta at Thanksgiving. Fritz's recommended calling Bichelmeyer. I headed down on December 23rd and the place was bustling with people picking up their prime rib roasts and summer sausage. In the midst of the chaos, I got to witness the art and skill of the butcher breaking down the hog for my Porchetta. He took the time and care to let me know how many pounds of meat I would end up with, honored my request to open up the loin and score the skin. I left with my 27# specialty cut of pork belly w/loin attached (enough pork for my celebration and 2 separate meals) and a complimentary 2020 calendar! PS it was delicious served on crusty bread with salsa verde and pickled onions!

Hot damn! This summer has magically transformed into the Summer of Street Tacos for me, and I couldn't have imagined that some of the best ones I'd dive into would be inside of a butcher shop. Bichelmeyers was very busy on a Saturday with a long rows full of every type of meat imaginable. Looking down at the end of the counter, you'll see a mob of people grouped together after one thing: Tacos. Loaded up, lightly fried tacos. While a bit of a wait, it's totally worth it. They have loads of options for tacos, a hot sauce bar (pro tip: get your sauces in little cups while you wait in line so you don't have to cut through everyone to get it afterwards), and the smell the entire time is amazing. I went with my classics, the Carne Asada and Pastor. The Pastor stole the show, it was seriously phenomenal. Nice pineapple finish, smoky flavor and well-trimmed. These tacos are legit in size. While I love all the other taco shops around, I have to say in comparison, the tacos at Bichelmeyers would be considered double or triple tacos. They're loaded up - don't forget napkins! I need to try the meat here, and if it's anything like the quality of tacos, it's bound to be awesome. Check them out!

This would turn a non steak eater into a steak eater.

This was my first time to visit Bichelmeyer meats. I thought it would be tiny and hard to find. It's the size of a grocery store and is in plain site. The place is huge. The cuts of meats are to the side, the Mexican food is in the back. They have a numbering system so you need to wait until they call. Going in there will cause your mouth to water just looking at all the meat.I don't eat steak, but I'd eat one of their t-bones. The cuts are huge and prices are fair. Today they had pigs ears and bones for dogs. I was there with a group of Yelpers for the Taco crawl. Their prices are very reasonable, $3 for a filled taco, with enough filling and an extra tortilla to make 2. I had the pastor tacos, but it was a tough choice between that and the tamales. I ended up buying pigs ears for the dogs, but I'll be back to buy some meat. And then maybe tamales.

They have all sorts of meat from beef to chicken and even sometimes rabbit. They also have eggs of different varieties including duck and turkey. They also have cheeses and charcuterie items. They have lots of pickled items. And even premade meals like pot pies, breakfast burritos, mac & cheese, and the last time I was in a stroganoff. In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Highly recommend. If you are in the city market area definitely stop in and check out what they have.

The brisket is really good, I didn't have a chance with ribs(pictures look fantastic) or burnt ends to give a more full review. The room to grow is the smoke. Brisket was unwrapped near our table and was dripping juices - spice rub and doneness was right on. The meat was so tender and flavorful that I didn't really need P&F's BBQ Sauce- which was also very good and a bit different from traditional KC style sauce. Pork Burnt ends aren't my favorite but these were tasty, very well spiced and were complimented well by the P&F sauce. While I thought the brisket was the star of the show, the smoked and fried chicken wings were a close second to the brisket and seemed very popular with the crowd at Discourse. When chicken is smoked well, it carries the smoky taste throughout tender and juicy meat and these were smoked well. Can't forget Discourse Brewing, I tried their Used 8 track Dortmunder Lager. I like German style lagers and pilsners and this choice well complimented P&Fs BBQ. Before finishing for the evening I had a Platinum Label "I'm a Dinosaur" Helles - it was light and not too hoppy. I'd have both again. Wednesday is Trivia Night at Discourse and while I didn't stay for it, the place was packed an hour before trivia started. All in all a great evening. If you like BBQ, Beer or trivia or want to hit a trifecta - try Discourse Brewing on a Wednesday night!
