I was referred here by an Escondido vacuum repair place that went out of business in Jan 2026. The location is not hard to find, there is a decent size parking lot for the few businesses that are in there and I have been there 2 times, no issues with parking. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They gave me an idea over the phone if I could even repair my vacuum and explained the process to bring it in for a free estimate, that was needed to do a proper diagnosis and give you a real estimate for the repair, and the amount of time needed. They were done sooner than they promised and it was only 10 or so more than the range they had told me over the phone. They have new vacuums for sale and they may also have repaired vacuums for sale, I did not check. I recommend them for your vacuum repair. read more

The owner was amazing in offering to assist us!! We have a very expensive commercial vacuum chamber packer for preserving food. Even though this is not their focus, he offered to check out a switch circuit to see if it was the cause of it working intermittently. took my oreck in yesterday bc it wasn't working, wouldn't turn on.. then it was smoking. so we left it with the man up front.. since it's a free estimate to see what's wrong and then he'll talk price. he calls us this morning and says a mask was stuck and that's why the motor stoped and the band needed to be replaced and something with the brush roll, so he says all that plus labor will be $103, no problem, money is not an issue to me, but a new oreck would be $80 more so we picked it up.. i took a look at it since i decided i'd just try and fix it, i look thru it and the band is perfectly fine. so i turn it on... and to my surprise it works.. it just makes me wonder what he was going to do with it all week if it worked perfectly fine after the mask was removed. not to mention, he wasn't welcoming, the dog was way nicer than the cold shoulder we got. also got it back like this(check photo), we pushed it back but come on, i just felt disrespected at the fact that he tried taking advantage of us... i understand older folk probably bring in certain vacuums in to get fixed but don't get scammed, look a video up and TRY to fix it before spending too much money.. read more

When my 46 year-old Bernina Record revolted while I was chain-sewing masks for the Auntie Sewing Squad, I researched not only repair shops but also new, basic sewing machines. I chose Poway Vacuum and Sewing Center because of their reputation with Berninas. I felt Jesse's repair estimate was very fair and his knowledge and ability to compare my Bernina against a new machine helped me to quickly decide to have my machine repaired. Service was completed within the timeframe given and my machine is sewing wonderfully! I did discover that my Bernina's lightbulb needed to be replaced and Jesse delivered it to me...such great service especially because being a 'senior' during a pandemic doesn't allow me to venture out much. Absolutely a great place! The employees are fast, friendly, helpful and I highly recommend stopping in! Good stock, repairs, maintenance, and new machines too. I feel as though there aren't many places to take a broken vacuum in 2022; the modern solution is buying a reproduction part on Amazon and praying it matches the photo. I am not a fan; I prefer local shops so found one (NOT Poway Vacuum & Sewing) near my house. Yay, or so I thought, then I pulled up during my lunch break only to find it closed 3 hours before the time listed on their site. Another search revealed the next nearest shop was 23 minutes away - way out in Poway. I grumbled then called and asked if Poway Vacuum and Sewing was open until 6. "We are, but give us a call if you're running late and we will wait for you!" I didn't know businesses even did that! I walked in at 5:43pm, was greeted by an employee (and a friendly dog behind the counter), explained my problem and what 3 parts I wanted, he fixed the issue, installed the parts, tested the vacuum, and I paid and walked out. This took 7 minutes. The staff were friendly and gave a clear explanation for my issue and answered a few other questions for me. It cost me so little: $30 and driving time. I will be back when I need new filters and maintenance for sure. read more

My old IKEA sewing machine died. Instead of trying to get it fixed, I decided to purchase a new one. I decided to pay a visit to Poway vacuum and sewing center. Russ was very knowledgeable and told me that he would be getting some sewing machines in a few days later. I took that time to research the brand (Necchi). My sewing machine was acting up (totally user error!) and since my machine is under warranty from their service job they told me to bring it in. Rust was great and gave me lots of tips and talked me through steps to prevent more user errors. Haha. If you ever need to get your sewing machine or vacuum service please take it here instead of anywhere else. They are super friendly and helpful. They'll answer any questions you might have and they actually take the time to educate you on your machine. I took my machine a year ago to a different place and it stopped working after a month or two. They refused to fix the problem and said that it was a mechanical issue (motor needed replacement) and tried to get me to trade in my machine. Jesse and Rust from Poway Vaccuum & Sewing took a look at it and said that it's totally fixable and that it wasn't the motor at all. My neighbor donated a beautiful sewing machine to me so I could give it to a newly arrived refugee family. I was having trouble with the bobbin case shifting and causing jams. I called Poway Vacuum and Sewing and spoke with Russ. He was so kind and tried to help me trouble shoot over the phone, but it wasn't working. I explained the the machine was needed for a refugee family and he told me to come down and he'll have a look. I felt bad as it was close to closing time, but he reassured me and said, "well I'm the Owner so it's OK!" Russ was super knowledgeable and after tinkering with the machine for a few minutes, he was able to fix it. He spent some time to show me how to properly thread the machine and ensure the tension settings are correct so I can teach the family. Russ is the reason why we need to support small businesses! I was just dropping by to see if this vacuum store had the Miele vacuum (Classic C1 Pure) I was looking for to test out. I only had my old Shark and Dyson V12 to reference, so I never experience a Miele before. Until I found out about Miele, I thought they stopped making cannister vacuums but Im glad I was wrong. Russ, the owner, came out after helping another customer to give me a demo of the Classic C1. Russ has a plethora of knowledge with vacuums and Im glad he helped me make the right decision to drop my money on the right Miele for my house and budget. The cool thing I didnt know is you can upgrade the filter to a HEPA filter and it will filter more particles for a longer duration before needing to replace. I am now a fan of Poway Vacuum and Sewing and a proud owner of a Miele Classic C1 Pure. Thanks Russ gor the recommendation. I may want to get a Miele Triflex from you in the future. read more

Brought my new Bissel carpet shampooer in because it wasn't working. They helped me immediately and showed me what I was doing wrong by putting too much soap in it. I haven't service my Kenmore vac in years. Last week it just stopped working right as I was vacuuming the stairs. I figured I would need it to buy a new vacuum cleaner because this one was 14 years old and worked great until it didn't. I found this repair shop and they said it might take longer than expected but it did not. It was done in two days buy a young man named Joey who was so nice and helpful in explaining to me what had happened. It was like I had a brand new vacuum cleaner. I rarely write reviews, but this store and it's owner (Russ Capuano) deserve high praise. I brought in my Miele vacuum- that I had taken to another vacuum repair shop in SD twice- which was still having issues. Within a few minutes, Russ diagnosed the problem, repaired my vacuum on-site, and I was on my way. I can't guarantee that everyone else will walk away with a solution that quickly, but I will say that Russ is extremely knowledgeable, honest, and you will receive the utmost professionalism and quality service. Update: 9/10/2020. Got a call that my table click-on piece to my new Bernina finally arrived. Picked up today. Yeah! If it weren't for this (likely isolated) incident as mentioned in the original review, I would have given 5 stars. So all in all, aside from the previous review, Russ and Jesse are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and fair. Without question, these guys know their stuff and I trust them for their knowledge, experience and skills. A big reason for buying a Bernina from Poway Sew & Vac is the personalized service and the "how to sew" classes they offer for anyone who buys a Bernina, for as long as you own your machine. How awesome is that?! It's an investment in a great product and a relationship that develops, not simply a business transaction. These tutorials or classes (paused during the pandemic) were a big selling factor in my deliberation to spend several thousand dollars. So I'm looking forward to learning more of the "how to" tips in the future. Plus I felt like I received really good customer service and expect that will continue. I'm a big believer in service, courtesy and friendliness and will keep going back to support businesses that treat you well. We have also had our vacuum cleaners repaired and serviced here multiple times and they have been fantastic. Quality job fixing our vacuums and done in a timely manner and at a fair price. We drove in from Pine Valley, they fixed our Miele, were pleasant, went above and beyond to help us out. I love my Miele, and this is the ONLY PLACE IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY I would go. They were fast, and even looked at our old Miele for free, told us the problem for No charge, fixed & we were out the door. Five Star Miele Vac Repairs / Warranty, or not warranty repairs. My Mile Silvermoon is almost 20 years old and was not always well treated. It needed a good check-up. I was told what needed to be done & the price & time for it all. I got a call to pick it up. My Dad has been bringing the work vacuum cleaner to their shop. I say work vacuum for it is being used on their janitorial business. He love them, says it's very reasonable price and good guys. Fast forward 2/23/2021, I brought Mom's sewing machine after being lost somewhere in our shed (LOL) It's vintage i shall say, it's been with her for 22 years. Issue: Presser foot lifter, broken. I called, talked to Jessie, brought sewing machine same day. Received a call for estimated cost which includes fixing presser foot lifter, tune up sewing machine & some accessories (Foot, bobbin, etc) & +/- 1 week turn aroudn time. OMG! the tag price, VERY REASONABLE! I was expecting maybe spending through the roof! I said let's go, fix the little one. Where can you find a neighborhood shop like this! Went to extra effort with mounting the unit so it is extra quiet. Very reasonable prices as well. Our ten year old Riccar vacuum cleaner literally fell apart (probably due to some abuse by one of our house cleaners.) We took it to Poway Sewing & Vacuum Center and they reacted like repairing it would not be a big challenge. Two days later they said they could fix and clean the vacuum cleaner for a service charge of $49.95. We picked it up two days later and it is like new!
