My 5-year-old son visited the dentist for the first time to fill his teeth. The pressure that the machine put on my son's lips caused a lip ulcer, and when we went to show the swelling and the white sore on the lip, they said that you can't see the doctor and that there is no problem and that it will heal after a few days, and They said that this wound was caused by children biting their lips when they were numb, but when the doctor finished his work, I saw that the side of my son's lip had blood despite the pressure of the dental tool. And now that he is sleeping, his entire pillow is wet because he is unable to swallow the saliva due to the risk of swelling. And the doctor's secretary emphasized several times that you should not visit the doctor in person because of these issues and only call them by phone, in which case I should have shown them the problem that they had created to make sure that the mouth did not fester. Children should be taken to a doctor who knows how to work with the right tools so that there are no problems for our children.i wish I could post the picture of his mouth , it's so sad . read more

I took my children here roughly 3 years ago. All 3 of my children were very young roughly 3, 4 and 6 years old. My youngest just needed a cleaning so it went smooth. My middle child had to get some type of procedure done but the dentist was having a difficult time and couldn't complete it. He was left with a hole drilled in his tooth! My oldest had vomited during his procedure. He was in pain with tears running down his cheeks while he sat still in the chair. The dentist was frustrated with us. I was nervous and just heartbroken over the whole situation. We had gone just for a cleaning and were told we needed to have work done, so I trusted them and went through with it. I still think about that horrible experience. read more

Dr Fattouch is AWESOME!! He is very through and explains everything in layman's terms and even draws a image to illustrate what he's talking about to you. He has a great bedside manner is great with kids. My sons are very young and always appear at ease and are cooperative with him! Their pretty wild so it's impressive to see them respond so well. My daughter had to do 8 root canals!!! She had to go under general anesthesia and Betty was able to get me an appointment at Rady's Children's hospital this past Thanksgiving break. It worked out perfect because my daughter wouldn't have to miss any school. We had limited time to get all the paperwork in but Betty was so great about getting all my paperwork completed on time and all the information to me for the oral surgery. I showed up to the surgery and the doctor talked me through what was going to happen. I waited and the surgery took just as long as Dr. Fattouch told me it would and everything went perfectly. I was literally expecting to have the most cranky and in pain 5 year old for a couple days with minimal eating for Thanksgiving. My daughter literally felt 100% right after the meds wore off. She felt no pain after, ate solids right after and I believe it is due to the doctor's precision and care for each of his patients. My daughter felt no pain after, no discomfort and no soreness after. She is one tough 5 year old but the doctor and staff had so much to do with it. I absolutely love this pediatric office!! One of my daughters was a little nervous, but Dr. Fattouch talked with her and was wonderful in helping with her nervousness. I was surprised she sat through her treatment. :) They also got some cute prizes at the end after they finished their checkups. I loved that they let me stay in the room with them while getting their teeth checked and while my daughter filled her cavity. I've hear of other pedo offices not letting the parents stay in the room, so this was really nice. They office is really lovely and the televisions on the ceilings were great! The staff was so friendly and knew how to handle children and Dr. Fattouch was really really great! My girls were so excited at then end and they can't wait to come back for their next visit. I chose Dr fattoush after reading many local pediatric dentists here in Poway and have been going here for about 2 years. Very professional and friendly staff. Great waiting room with video games tv for the kids and plenty of up to date magazines for parents . Doctor takes his time to go over procedures and is very transparent when it comes to what he recommends in regards to treatment. Kids 6,8,10 are very comfortable which limits anxiety before visits. These guys were phenomenal! After the last nightmare that was my previous dentist, I feel very happy to have found Poway. My daughter is very nervous about dental appointments and can be rather difficult just getting her into the office. Robert and his staff went out of their way to make her laugh and feel comfortable, which I feel goes hand and hand with the dental work! After researching and reading tons of reviews I can across this place. I was so excited to find a good dentist. We went for our consultation and cleanings and I was still happy. We had to wait for pre authorization to come back before work could be done and they said they would call us in a couple weeks once they got the approval. Well here we are weeks in and no call. I called today to check on it and they received the approval on July 9 and still haven't called to set up an appointment. I'm more than frustrated as I really wanted to have everything taken care of before school started. They have crappy communication. The reason she said she didn't call was because the dentist had a two week emergency. She still could've called and scheduled something for when he returned but no that would've made too much sense. read more

As always we have the best visits here. My son was so scared of the dentist when he first came here. Petrified would be a better word to use. The whole team worked with him patiently and calmly and he walked out with a smile on his face. He knows that even if he has to get work done, like a cavity filled etc he wont be in pain. Dr. Fattouch is very patient with my two sons. He always stays calm with my 3 year when he isn't being a very good patient and explains what is going on and what he is doing to my 6 year old while during procedures. He makes me and my children feel comfortable and doesn't make me feel like I'm being judged because we sometimes skip on the flossing or brushing. My kids actually *want* to go to this dentist. They ask me in the days leading up to their appointments, "Can we go now? Can we go now?" The dentist and staff make it so fun and stress-free. There are toys, books, and games in the waiting area--all super clean. The kids get fake coins to "buy" toys when appointments are over. My son broke one of his baby teeth while on vacation last week so I called first thing this am to get an appointment. This office is amazing not only did they fit him in this morning but they did his cleaning and 2 extractions and we were out of there in about a hour. Brought all three of my kids here for first time several weeks ago. Loved the fact that the doctor himself did their cleanings and was successful at getting all three (5,3, and 1) willing to cooperate with the cleaning and fluoride. He was friendly and very good with the kids. Came back a week later to get some cavities filled for the 5-year old and all went well. Cannot tell where the filling is and she had no pain or worry. First the good, Doctor seems like a nice guy, along with the rest of the staff. Office has things to do for the kids. The Bad Appointment was scheduled at 9:30, for a procedure under general anesthesia. I was told at some point after 10 by the receptionist that they were running behind. Just before 11 I went up to find out what was going on, since we were approaching 90 minutes past the appointment time for my nervous and hungry ( no food after midnight ) 4 year old. I was told probably 15 minutes. I told the receptionist I was done waiting and I would like my deposit back. The doctor came out and he informed me that his first patient of the day was 45 minutes late and the second was 30 minutes late. Unfortunately for me and my son I was right on time. According to the sign in sheet the first appointment of the day was at 6:30, giving them plenty of time to call me before I drove in. Any doctor who is willing to take a patient 45 minutes late and then make everyone behind them wait without even a courtesy call, is not someone who I am going to continue using, or recommend to anyone else. The second star was because they seemed honestly sorry about the wait and returned my deposit. read more

We brought our daughter in for much needed dental surgery in where she had to be put under anesthesia. Her appt was at 9AM so we were here by 8:43 am to make sure all paperwork was covered and she could get in on time. We didn't get taken back until 9:45 but later we found out they had a disabled boy in front of us that they encountered last minute problems while doing his oral surgery. The anesthesiologist was very nice and let our daughter stay with us while they put her under. I wasn't super happy about being delayed but I know stuff comes up and they took care of my daughter. This has to be the BEST pediatric dentist in San Diego! My son went through a traumatizing event with Super Dentists, where they extracted a tooth without it being knumb and I will NEVER forget the screams. He was scared from that moment forward of dentists and I tried everything! I finally looked through reviews and saw that someone else's child came here and walked out smiling. So we tried and it was amazing to say the least The staff was all understanding and very gentle with my son. He had cavities and I cringed at the thought of filling them. But they were so careful with him and quiet about it that he didn't even realize he was having them filled or even getting a shot! The dental assistant was so good about hiding the tools that it didn't even phase him. When he was all done and I told him what had happened he was so proud of himself!!! And I was sold! I would highly recommend Dr. Fattouch and his team. His expertise in the field of pediatric dentistry is way beyond other dentists out there. He is very compassionate and he really cares about his patients. He is very punctual however he always takes his time with his patients as well as their parents and explains everything into details. I really want to write a favorable review--he has helped my daughters and after going to a horrible dentist here in San Diego for my eldest, I will say I enjoy him as a dentist for my kids. My kids feel comfortable going there, but this is more about my recent appointment in November. I was so happy that they had a Saturday appointment and made it a month in advance. This works out so well for me and my family because it is hard for me to miss work. The appointment went well, no cavities, but one of her fillings she had grinded down and the doctor wanted to fix it. He informed me that Medi-Cal would take a few weeks to get the permission but he would like to redo the work. When I went to go checkout, the lady in the reception area informed me that it would take about three weeks for them to get approval and they would call me for an appointment in December. We talked about him moving his Saturday time one week earlier or later due to the holiday, but she assured me that I would be able to do a Saturday appointment at that time. She would call me when she heard back from Medi-Cal. Well--it gets worse from here---I never heard back from the dental office and received a Happy Holidays email which came from a yahoo account. I replied to this email stating that we went in November and I was suppose to hear something back, if someone could call me and I left my phone number for someone to call me back. Still nothing. January rolls around, I called them the second week and explained the whole thing. The lady pulls up my daughters chart and goes--there are notes that nothing needs to be done. I said, no--both the doctor and the receptionist that Saturday told me they had to get approval from medi-cal about the fillings. Something is shady here--she told me she knew the lady that typically works Saturdays and she would have her call me back. Well--here we are--March. SO obviously something shady happened from the time we left the office. I know I heard right--why would both the doctor and the receptionist tell me one thing but then put something different on my daughter's chart? And why would you not call your customers back to at least explain why you changed their chart?? read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. First the staff in his office is amazing, they are all so nice and so pleasant, I can tell they really like working there. Second Dr. Fattouch is an amazing and wonderful dentist great with kids and after our first visit my daughter loves it. I drove 30 minutes from Lakeside to see him and it was well worth the drive. He is very patient which is also a plus. He explained everything that my daughter needed done and I was welcomed to stay in the room while he did the work. My daughter was very comfortable with him and his staff and that says a lot when you can make a 9 year old comfortable with someone they have never met. It is hard to find a good pediatric dentist these days and boy we hit the jackpot with Dr. Fattouch. If you are looking for an awesome pediatric dentist this is the man you need to take your kids to. read more

I have been in dentistry for 15 years and I have to say I have seen it all the good and the bad ... But I do have to say that DR Fattouch is the one of the best pediatric dentist I have ever meet. He treats my kids like if they are the only patients he has. My girls love him. His office never has a wait its nice and clean never crowded with kids. I have 4 kids and he never has treat me any different then anyone else. My daughter Sicily was very apprehensive about going to the dentist since she knew that she had some cavities to fill. I allowed her to search and select her new dentist online, so she would be comfortable and feel empowered that she made the decision. She selected Dr. Fattouch and has been thrilled with her decision. We have had two appointments and several cavities filled, and the first thing she said when we got in the car was "I sure made a good decision." I took my son to see Dr. Fattouch after leaving a wonderful dentist that was just too far to make the drive for. I was so looking forward to a wonderful experience after reading the previous 2 reviews, but ended up extremely disappointed. While Dr. Fattouch was personable and seemed to relate well with my child (5 years), the exam and visit was sub par. I'm not sure if the Dr. was preoccupied with another patient waiting for him, but I could have done more for my son's teeth. After looking at my son's teeth for literally 3 seconds, he said "everything looks good. I don't see any cavities." Great, I was thinking. We brush religiously twice a day, but fall short on flossing. Dr. Fattouch didn't clean my son's teeth...AT ALL. He painted fluoride on and then ordered his assistant to take x-rays. After glancing at my son's x-rays, again for literally 3 seconds, said, "make sure you're flossing. See right there [pointing to my son's pictures] he's got some build up." Ummm, how about actually cleaning his teeth and removing the build up. Like I mentioned, maybe he was preoccupied with another patient, but I expect my child's teeth to actually be cleaned when I bring him in for a cleaning. And I expect the dentist to spend more than 5 minutes with my son when "cleaning" his teeth. I'm so disappointed because I was really hoping to have found a gem in Dr. Fattouch. Now I have to seek out another dentist for an actual cleaning. read more

This office is phenomenal! Dr. Fattouch was amazing with my little girl and helped her overcome her fears of going to the dentist. The entire staff is amazing from the front all the way to the back. His assistants helped with Shelly 's X rays making it easier for her, which my wife and I appreciated. Dr. Fattouch knows what he's talking about and makes it easy to trust him. I was really hoping my experience wouldn't be what I saw mentioned in the negative reviews here. Unfortunately, it seems I was a victim of less than honest business practices with this dentist as well. I took my 8 year old daughter in for a routine cleaning/exam here last year. It was our first time seeing Dr. Fattouch. First, let me say, the dental assistant hardly said 5 words to my child the entire time. Don't recall his name, but he didn't do any cleaning, just x-rays, so I expected when the dentist came in it would be done. The dentist came in, scraped some plaque off, and applied fluoride, but there was no polishing or spraying. The whole session was very rushed and the dentist also did not talk with my child. Then he looked at the x-rays and proceeded to tell me that my daughter needed to have 5-8 fillings done. I guess I looked rather shocked (of course I was, because she's had regular dental visits since she was 3, brushes and flosses regularly, and doesn't drink sugary or acidic drinks.) He then pointed to an area on the x-ray where he said showed the beginnings of a cavity. I saw nothing. He could tell I wasn't convinced, so I thought he might point out another one of the 5 or 8 cavities he saw that might be visible, but he didn't. He just said, "it's hard to see here, but we like to fill them before they get bigger." Well, I might have even believed him, except, since he wasn't concerned about CLEANING my daughter's teeth on a routine visit, I could hardly trust he cared so much about the preservation of them. Then I was told that they use resin fillings and laughing gas, and how safe it is. Again, at the reception desk, I was advised of the resin fillings and laughing gas as if they were making a full legal disclosure or convincing me to go through with the fillings. I know my child would not need laughing gas. She is a very easy going child and has never cried at shots, even when she was a baby, but they were insistent that every child needed to be calmed down for procedures. In the end, I just did not feel comfortable making another visit to this office. I made an appointment with another dentist who did a very thorough exam/cleaning and found 0 cavities. I hate to think this dentist is exploiting children's teeth to make a buck, but I'm not sure what other conclusion to come to after my experience. He even billed my insurance for cleaning procedures that were not done. And maybe I caught them on a bad day, but no one in the office seemed very kid-friendly. And I am not really very sociable myself, so I give a lot of slack when it comes to judging friendliness. read more

Nice dentist but false claims. Always get second opinions! This dentist told me my child had 7-8 cavities! Also wanted me to have my child put to sleep (more money in his pocket!) Funny how 6 months later another dentist said it was only two cavities. I believe he is in the business of telling lies to make huge money. I'm really thankful for previous reviews cause they helped me to choose a wonderful dentist for my kids. Dr. Fattouch is really great with the kids and you can see that he really cares about doing the best for his patients. The crack in my son's front tooth is fixed the way you'll never tell where the filling is. The second time we went there he was a bit nervous and asked me to stay with him during the procedure (we had to go there tree times: the first for the exam and cleaning, the other two times to do the fillings). But after 5 minutes he let me go and play with younger child in the lobby area. The anesthesia was good, he didn't feel anything (although the doctor had to do a lot of work with his teeth), the tvs on the ceiling distracted his attention from the procedure so everything went really great. So the next time I can tell he was excited to go there, as he already knew there would be no pain, but he can play a bit video games there, talk to a very nice doctor's assistant and get a small toy at the end of the treatment. Even my two year old daughter cooperated very well during her exam and cleaning. She didn't mind go there again with her brother and got kinda upset that they didn't clean her teeth again :) So the office is nice and clean, there's tons of different equipment, games and toys for kids, everything is new, staff is friendly and the doctor is professional. Awesome dentist. My son had his bottom adult teeth coming in behind his baby teeth, took him on to get it checked out thinking I would have to come back to get it fixed. Nope he did it all that day. I brought my son to Dr. Fattouch in Poway to get a 2nd opinion on the work that my 8 year old son needed done on his teeth. The last dentist said he needed all kinds of work done and wanted me to come back 5 times to do it all. The one before that, same thing. I went to Dr. Fattouch in Poway (45 minutes away from where I live, but the reviews online were positive and I needed to find an honest dentist), and not only did he finally fix my sons painful tooth problem the same day, but I found out all the extra work the last dentist said needed to be done (Like 4 SILVER CROWNS) was NOT TRUE. GO HERE FOR AN HONEST, CARING, STRAIGHT TO THE POINT DENTIST. Trust me, Dr. Fattouch is worth 10 STARS. read more

So badly wanted to have faith in this dentist since his feedback seemed pretty good. My husband and I had a tough year due to job loss and we had to sign up for Medi-cal. I googled countless dentists to find an acceptable dentist to accept the insurance. I took my daughter in for a cleaning and X-rays. Dentist did a so-called dental cleaning if you want to call it that. Still wanted to give him the benefit. Next, we reviewed the X-rays. Dentist told me that my daughter would need 3 different appointments to fill 9 cavities. I felt a strong premonition that this was incorrect. I kept asking him questions about the cavities. I wanted an explanation since he was recommending three appointments. His best answer was, " I just call it bad luck." What? Let me educate Dr. Fattouch. This was quoted in Parents magazine, " Parents often assume that kids get cavities because they're lax about brushing and flossing. That's true to an extent, but what few people know is that tooth decay is a known disease as dental caries that's caused by specific germs, spreads easily in families, and can last a lifetime. "children now have much more sugar in their diets at an early age, and the popularity of bottled water--which usually doesn't contain fluoride--may also contribute to the growing problem." There are many other articles about cavities. I just needed a valid explanation with valid evidence for his recommendation of 9 cavities. Bad luck? Geez, where was he educated? I doubt his Professors instructed him to tell his patients, " It is just bad luck that your child has 9 cavaties." Seriously? One of the lamest excuses I have heard. Seems to me that he could not accurately answer my questions. I went home and reviewed different insurance plans. Found one and sold whatever I could to purchase dental insurance. I once again reviewed various dentists and went with the top rated with tons of feedback. My daughter received a great dental cleaning and x-rays. The new dentist reviewed the X-rays in which she had "ONE" cavity. I told her that she needed to clarify everything because I was previously told that she had 9 cavities. We reviewed the x-rays for the next 30 minutes. Each and every tooth. Needless to say, " I was so very upset ." What kind of unnecessary work is this guy performing? Innocent children getting work on their teeth under laughing gas, anesthesia, etc. Who does this? Please, be guarded if you deal with this dentist. These children deserve the utmost care and honesty. He lacks all of the above. I am grateful for this this happening. Now I can see the atrocities within the system. Our family has always had very good insurance and we were financially comfortable. Makes me so upset to be at the mercy of the Medi-cal system and to be taken advantage of by a Dentist. I asked for a breakdown of all the costs involved with nine cavities. Receptionist told me that it was all covered with Medi-cal. Was I supposed to walk away and think, " Wow, what a great dentist. So happy that this is not going to cost me a dime." Instead, I walked away sick to my stomach thinking, how am I affecting my daughter? I am her best advocate. She depends on me to make things right. This was not right. Love, Love, Love this dentist office. My 9 yr. old has had a few terrible experiences with dentists. We have tried four different places so far trying to find a dentist that eases his fears not adds to them. We have even put off having work done just because he has been so fearful. I have been searching online and talking to everyone about their kids dentist. Somehow or another none of them worked for us. After reading review after review after review I finally found Dr.Fattouch! I was willing to drive anywhere to go to a good dentist but I was even more excited that he is here in Poway and they excepted our insurance. We just got home from him having to have his tooth extracted and another one filled. It was the easiest most pain free experinece ever.
