After reading reviews from parents with similar stories, we decided to try 4S Pediatric Dentistry -- and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredible with my son. He used to be scared of going to the dentist, but now he's actually happy to go. Dr. Arielle gave me multiple treatment options (which is all I wanted in the first place), and they were far simpler and less aggressive than what we were offered at Super Dentist. My son had a cavity filled today, and the way they guided him through the entire process was amazing. When numbing him, the doctor joked about having "sharp nails," and I truly had no idea she had already given the injection -- such a clever and gentle approach! The dentists and dental hygienists are friendly and quick so it is a good experience for the child. Each patient is offered a balloon or prize when done. First of all, let me say that I absolutely love the doctors at 4S Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Spencer is our favorite dentist in our house. He is kind, caring, and a fantastic dentist. My children have gone here for 13 years. However, I have decided to leave and move my children to a different dental office. This is because when you call, they do not answer the phone. Never. Then you wait for them to return your call and it isn't always the same day. This is not super convenient. In addition, I wasn't able get my daughter in for a cleaning for over 9 months if I wanted an appt after school hours. So, I skipped her 6 month cleaning. It has now happened again and they will not be able to schedule my children's cleanings until the summer if I don't want to pull them out of school to do so. That would put my daughter at a year and a half between cleanings. Previously, we went every 6 months. While this practice has wonderful doctors, they are way too busy to meet their patients needs. It makes me sad to leave, but for a year and a half now, schedule routing cleanings has been problematic. That combined with not being able to talk to a person when you call, has caused me to find a dentist that is more available for my family. read more

This is an amazing facility for children! I have two young boys, one that is 18 months old and still pretty nervous with strangers, and a 3 year old who is just starting to come out of the fearful stage, and the dentists here are so good with both of them. When my little one cries, they know how to calm him down and are gentle and patient, and when my 3 year old is a little nervous but curious about everything, they turn the dentist into a fun learning experience! The office is super nice with a lot of amenities for your child. There are video games and tvs in the lobby and TVs on the ceilings so your kid can be distracted when they are working in their mouth. Just had my son's first dentist appointment at 3.5 years. Can't say enough great things about the service, quality of care and environment. Everyone who helped us was great; they took time to explain patiently each of the tools and what they were doing. He even picked out a toy when he left. My 2 daughters have been coming to 4S Dentistry since 2017 and has had good experiences with the doctors and hygienists. Unfortunately, after the last visit, for which they called and received insurance authorization for, 3 months later called me to say apparently, we didn't have insurance and how would I like to pay the nearly $600 charge for the girls last standard cleaning. All of this would have been fine if explained a little better and then listened to me that nothing has changed with our insurance and this was in the middle of a calendar year and I am sure there is some mistake, and no, I was not going to pay that bill until I could investigate. They called me every other day for 2 weeks when I finally was very upset and said that it took them 3 months post service to hear from the insurance company and we needed time to investigate to get an answer and stop calling me. They were aggressive, rude and I felt discriminated against because they thought we didn't have dental insurance. The office staff was fake nice and unbelievably condescending. Well rest assured, we did have insurance and the charges were covered. Do you think I got a call from the office saying sorry for hounding you for weeks, or even calling to tell me that the charge had been paid by the insurance company? NO, I DID NOT! I had to hear from our company HR person dealing with the insurance that it was paid. Maybe you should take the time to train your staff in customer service, insurance mistakes, and tactics when calling people to discuss sensitive topics of money, especially when you had an approved pre-authorization prior to services rendered! read more

We just took my 23 month old to his first visit and were wow-ed all over again by this great crew! They were on time to get us from the waiting room and instantly knew how to intrigue my two kids (1 and 4) to come back to their dental chairs with little totchkies and an inviting attitude. We were certain my 23 month old would scream bloody murder the entire time so we asked for a private room and were awe-struck at how great he did the entire appointment thanks to the dental assistant Leighlani and Dr Spencer. They both kept it fun and positive the whole time with my son so we (shocker!) didn't even experience a single tear. UPDATE: We had a terrible experience with a cavity filling. My children loved their experiences with Dr. Spencer but in the past year, they've been seeing Dr. Kim. She seems very sweet but my daughter's filling was terrible. First of all, as a 9 yo, she's a little old for them to describe the gas nozzle over her nose as "bunny ears" but that's forgivable. It did make her a little suspicious of them though. What's not OK is that they never checked in with her on her pain level. They did the gas and the novocaine, but then just got to work. They put dark glasses on her and turned her seat back so I couldn't see her face. She was freezing so I put my jacket over her legs. After 30 minutes of drilling, they lifted the seat and removed the glasses and she was sobbing. They never said she could raise her hand if she had pain and never checked in with her. I spoke to Dr. Kim, who was defensive at best. She said they always check with the patient, etc. Fact is, I was there with her and I kick myself for not intervening. My daughter was terrified and that's just not ok. Suffice to say, we'll be finding a new dentist. read more

Came here after a horrible experience with a pediatric dentist over at Carmel Valley who attempted to pressure us and over charge us. I had received a recommendation for this office but had put it off bc my kid doesn't like change. Last week the other office finally was so rude and it was the last straw, so I called 4S and they were so kind and accommodating. It is so important to find a dentist that cares about your wellbeing and not just cashing out and I feel like it has been so hard for me to find dentists I trust. We are so happy we made the move. My 6 year old had a loose tooth that wouldn't come out and her adult tooth coming in behind. We were worried it would have to be extracted. Dr. Avi was so kind and reassuring. He took me aside (considering that my daughter has adhd and anxiety) and explained the situation then came back into the room and explained to my daughter what she had to do to get the tooth out herself. The entire staff was kind and it really makes a difference when dealing with kids who are under stress. My daughter left happy and we switched both our daughters over. read more

The front office staff are welcoming, accommodating, and super friendly. They make me feel at ease, and keep me updated on the wait time. They also help me understand what insurance covers, and the many details of the treatment breakdown. The back office staff are kind, caring, and have all the dental skills your child needs! Another wonderful new find! Turns out that Banker's Hill was too far to take my son so Dr. David Adams recommended we take my son here. What a treat! By the way, if you check in on Yelp, you get a stainless steel water bottle. It leaks a bit but pretty cool! They have video games for the kids to play and movies on the ceiling as they get their teeth cleaned. I was watching the office staff interact with the pediatric patients and they are perfect! Not condecending, just friendly. We also saw Dr. Grant for potential braces and he doesn't want to pull teeth. That's great! I think these days too many orthodontists want to pull teeth and he wants to help figure out how the child's mouth can accomodate all those teeth coming in. So far so good read more

I'm sad to write this review because they are actually very good with children and I had a good experience until the end. But...when I got the quote for my daughter's cavities (and she had a lot sadly), it was over $1800 for MY PORTION! So I got a second opinion as anyone who saw that would. Same procedures, same cavities- $230 for my portion at a very good local pediatric dentist. I felt scammed and really sad that they would do that. All I'm saying is- if your child has more than just the standard procedures or cleaning, maybe think twice about going here and get the second opinion. Love the staff and the Dr. they're all nice! I am only giving one star just because of how crowded they were in this Delta Variant case spreading situation. Some kids under 5 years old were not wearing masks, some crying crazy in the waiting room without a mask. When we arrived four families sitting on the bench, two families were at the reception, two other families constantly leaving and coming in. This was happening all in a same waiting room area. I was very nervous the whole time. I wish they take more caution and schedule better so the waiting room won't be crowded. read more

Dr. Kim did my cavity filling on my molar teeth and it was such a great experience. It was pain free and she explained the entire process to me and made sure to answer all my questions before doing my treatment. During treatment she made sure I was ok by always checking in on me. After she finished treatment, she gave me post op instructions on what to expect. So we have been having issues with our current pediatric dentist. I have 3 kids and have spent a lot on dentistry and been with our dentist for 12 years. We booked with dr Spencer for a second opinion. They wanted to replace 3-4 fillings that had fallen out of my daughters baby teeth and two "cavities" on the side of her permanent teeth. They also wanted to remove my sons two front teeth. Dr Spencer's front desk, assistant, the person who put on the sealants and Dr Spencer were all so nice and patient. Dr Spencer said that the filling were on teeth that ware due to fall out!!! He said we could wait till our next visit and if they haven't fallen out we could remove them instead of putting in fillings!!! He said there was no reason to fill the permanent teeth that the dark areas were just a little on the side he could just (in my layman's words not his) just file that little part off the side and seal it instead of compromising the tooth! Such a better option the. Drilling into a permanent tooth! He was done in just a few minutes and no novaCaine or anything. The old dentist said they would seal two teeth on my daughter (which they forgot to do) dr Spencer sealed 4 yeah! And my old dentist charged whereas dr Spencer's office said it was covered. The kids said when they got in the car they never wanted to go back to the old "super" dentist! read more

Just a warning to anyone here who takes their children for cleanings. I have been informed (by their front office staff) that the dentists do not do the dental cleaning ("scaling and polish"). They do not have a hygienist . They have their dental assistants do the cleanings . Scaling/cleaning below or above the gums is not a function within a DA's scope of practice. It is illegal in The state of CA!!! All that assistant can to is polish the teeth. So, if any of you paid these people for an actual cleaning and not just a basic polish, you might have been overcharged, or had your child treated by someone who is not trained or certified to do so! If you insist on going here, pay attention to who is treating your child. Even though children don't need to be scaled a lot, they do still grow tartar. You should never see anyone but a dentist or a hygienist for actual dental cleanings. read more

My daughter had to have some work done and her dentist Dr. Mauseth at 4s Dentistry was absolutely wonderful!!! I will not send my kids anywhere else. We see Dr. Kim as well which is just was wonderful! They are both so kind and gentle and really care for the kiddos. My daughter had to be put to sleep for the procedure. The office uses Dr. Johnson. Have to give him a shout out as well. He was wonderful. He explained the process to me, checked on me and my daughter while we waited for her to wake.
