It saddens me to write this review, as i see a lot of other positive reviews. We have been going to this office for a few years. During that time the Doctor acted condescending to me. If cavities have happened, i get the blame and the stink eye and the frown. It didn't happen once, the behavior happens when a cavity is found, which is not very often. While cavities happen, we all do our best as parents out of our busy lives to ensure good health to our kids and ourselves. It is not so critical that it earns admonishment FROM THE DENTIST when a cavity or tartar build up happens. Note that these are baby teeth , not adult teeth--i can understand getting instruction to remedy the problems but i did not pay for unprofessionalism. When the dentist has made a mistake, such as when a bond/filling comes off within a day (no the child did not eat gummy food) and it happened twice, then it is non-chalant as if it was nothing. The glue was still sticky when the filling came off, indicating that the dentist did not allow proper time and heat for the glue to cure properly. While i get admonished as the father, it is non-chalant for the dentist. My child and me are more happy at another dentist we fond. While our new dentist found plaque build up, the new dentist does not admonish or frown at us, the parents. read more

Always amazing! My 3 kids have been going here for a long time for regular checkups and for orthodontics and all I can say is WOW! Dr. Ellen is so patient with the kids especially with the youngest (3 years old) and every time they have gotten fillings they never cry or complain about it hurting. My oldest started braces couple months ago and he loves going to visit Dr. Chenard and one of the assistants Ms. Joan! The office is wonderful and just got fully renovated and they always play Disney movies at the front. The front desk workers are always so friendly and are super helpful especially when I have a lot of questions! My toddler has had two great visits here so far and we are looking forward to many more. She was very nervous at her first appointment with the polishing tool, and they used a toothbrush to apply the polish! They were so accommodating and let her sit in my lap. When she was done, they gave her a token and she chose a little ball. She talked about the little ball and her nice visit to the dentist office. During her second visit, she enjoyed watching TV and let them polish her teeth with the tool with no fussing. They're excellent at setting up your child up for success through their patience. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Im and her team as first time patients. Candy, Julie, and Maria were especially patient and caring with my special needs daughter. My daughter hates having her teeth cleaned and literally fights against cleaning her teeth. Dr. Im's team worked with her father to calm her and scrape the plaque from her teeth. Many other dentists found her medical history to be intimidating and didn't want to provide care - a kiddo with food allergies, chronic hives, a history of anaphylaxis, and MCAS. Dr. Ellen treats us like a normal family and not some scary medical mystery family.. Dr. Ellen is gentle, kind, conservative and not pushy, and so genuine. As a mom of 4 small kiddos, I need someone to instill trust into my children as this is the foundation of their futures. We drive over an hour from Lake Elsinore and she is SO worth it. Neurodivergent friendly they are NOT! My child was compared to a 2 year old saying to him," if a 2 year old could do it you should be able to do it"(my kiddo is much older than a toddler. They refused to use Novocain for fillings so it hurt my little one a ton and so he freaked out. Miner requests for accommodations for sensory sensitivity appeared to irritate them. read more

The BEST pediatric dentist in Poway. We have been to several, and were referred to Dr. Im snd have not looked back. The entire staff from reception to hygienists to dentists are so friendly and genuine. One of my sons has diagnosed anxiety and is extremely afraid of the dentist and he's learned to not dread coming in for his biannual visits because of how incredible the staff is. We have never had hidden costs, the front desk is incredibly upfront with services and costs associated, and fairly priced to boot. We are a new patient family, expecting top-notch treatment from this 5-star clinic. However, everything has been an utter disappointment. First, after the initial call, filling out forms, and making an appointment, I requested verification of our insurance coverage. The front desk promised to call me back by the end of the next day. I called back on the second day to check if anyone had reviewed it. They said no but promised again to call me back before the end of the day. Unsurprisingly, I did not get a call back from them. So, I called again this morning, and they finally confirmed our coverage and scheduled an appointment for this afternoon. I canceled our existing dentist appointment at 4:00 PM and made an appointment at 4:30 PM with Dr. Ellen. Up to this point, I thought it was not a big deal. However, when we arrived at the clinic and checked in at 4:30 PM, we waited for 15 minutes. I asked how much longer we would have to wait since the clinic would close soon. Suddenly, the front desk informed us that Dr. Ellen was not available and that another doctor would see my son. What?! No one told me this until I asked! Even if it was a last-minute change, we should have been notified instead of waiting and having to ask what was going on. I am extremely disappointed with our three-day experience. We will be traveling next week, which is why we need to be seen this week. Now our current dentist appointment has been canceled and we have yet to get the chance to be seen by Dr. Ellen as well. Everyone is struggling with time. We spent an hour and a half for nothing. We have never been treated this way, which is completely unacceptable! read more
