As the sign in the wondow states the ladies here have been producing top quality confestionary for 30 years and show no signs of abaiting. Not to be trapped down memory lane, the website reveals how they make their cakes in wheat free and dairy free ranges for all these fussy modern eaters - it's cake! it should have loads of butter and flour! But I also noticed that their website boasts a letter from Frank Cottrell Boyce, one of our cities best playwrite and screenwriter who aptly points out that Dafna's is like a trip back in time for your tastebuds. They aren't just limited to cheesecakes if I haven't pointed out as the ladies here also d a mean selection of preserves and accompaniments to there flans, tarts and slices and housed in what could be your nan's larder.

If you like cakes, cheesecakes, desserts or quiches this place is an absolute must! Dafna specialises in producing quality cakes, all made using non-commercial recipes, and utilising domestic kitchen equipment. There is a huge range of cheesecakes, the most popular product, available in ten different flavours - I didn't even know it was possible to do that! Honestly, I was like a kid in a candy shop... I think it's practically witchcraft! Alongside the magical cheesecakes, Dafna sells a range of dietary specific foods such as wheat-free and dairy-free cakes. There is also vegetarian meals and Belgian chocolates on offer. The prices are definitely higher than what you would find in a supermarket or grocery store but the quality of the food is absolutely incomparable! Quiches come at around £7 and cakes are around £10 on average, and the famous cheesecakes about £9 for a large.

Cuthberts Bakehouse - This is the amazing local tea they serve

The service was wonderful. We also tried the homemade scones with jam and cream. We loved the food so much we went twice during our 4 day stay in Liverpool. Don't miss this wonderful spot.

Everything is baked in house at Cuthberts Bakehouse and they have cute teacups and saucers, which we knew his grandparents would appreciate -- a saucer is mandatory with their teacup! We were seated in the back conservatory which was really cute. It's got a glass roof and was nicely furnished with succulent planters and even a Christmas tree for the holidays. We ordered 3 Classic Afternoon Teas, 1 New York Afternoon Tea and 1 Vegetarian Afternoon Tea for the 5 of us (my husband's mom joined us as well). The portions here are pretty big, but its weighted toward the desserts. Each afternoon tea comes with a scone on top, the middle layer has freshly baked treats, and the bottom layer is savory bites. As a group we sampled from all of the afternoon teas. I liked the burger in the New York Afternoon Tea a lot and the fries which came in both the Veggie NY and NY tea. I prefer savory bites, so those were great. For the desserts, I liked the chocolate covered strawberry and the fudge bite. My grandpa-in-law loved the almond cake and my grandma-in-law loved the Victoria sponge cake. I have some dietary requirements as the moment, so there was several things I couldn't eat unfortunately, but everything did look good, but I couldn't try that many items ultimately. I guess I'll have to return! My favorite part of the afternoon tea experience was the unlimited teas, coffees and hot chocolates! How cool! I tried several loose leaf teas including the Chai, Peppermint, Berry (which was my favorite), and the Jasmine. I also tried the Dark Hot Chocolate. This was really fun and I loved trying my way through the menu!

I proceeded to have six or seven more over the course of my visit, which given I was only there for another three days was probably far too many. I'll admit that I was fully expecting an inferior product from Ditsch, a pale and stale parody of the lovely pretzels I had put into my face in Germany but to my surprise they have perfectly recreated the soft, warm tangly bread of my fond memory. They also sell some less appetizing foodstuffs; congealing pizza slices and sweet versions of pretzels (which were like big, toughened donuts and not all that great) but for pretzels I dare you find better in Liverpool. Well done Ditsch.

In fact, it was another German classic of pretzel shaped bread which I bought for just £1 and it was sure yummy. I would take the pizza flavour any time. Initially, I was expecting it to be bland and doughy but it wasn't. For a quick tasty snack, it was well worth it and quite large in size. The pretzel could have been warmer but it was just as nice cold. I would definitely go back again to try some of their toasties and flatbread pizzas, especially the chicken curry flavour which sounds so mouth-watering!
