Quite possibly the oldest looking bakery I have ever seen, luckily the goods behind the counter are not.
It is probably due to the worn down, and tired look of Garston Village that exacerbates the feel of Wilsons but the lady's here have been making fresh confectionary for, well, decades! My mum and aunties have bemoaned the collapse the Garston Village and have used Wilson's as a yard stick of this fact when there was once queues around the corner on Saturdays for Wilson's breads and cakes.
Today, the selection is limited but small bakeries are one of those rare outlets/businesses in which you can really experience the tangible reward of local, fresh goods. How many of us can actually resist peering through the window at the iced buns and cup cakes when the smell of fresh bread hits you from down the street. Wilson's may look old but it will take you back to childhood when sticky jam and icing covered fingers were a daily enjoyment. read more
