Food is amazing, but service is non existent…read more Food 5/5 Service 1/5 Ambiance 4/5 Came with a reso for five adults and got seated promptly. The restaurant got busier throughout the night. The restaurant has a beautiful interior and high ceilings. Service here is little to none. Which is unfortunate since their food is so good. After taking our orders we were never checked on. Asked 2 different servers for extra serveware and never got it. Had to ask more than once to get water. Overall the service is BAD. What saves this place is definitely their food, as it's very delicious. Definitely start with their variety of dips for sharing. Here's what we got: Mix Appetizers 5/5 - Came with hummus, baba ganoush, spicy mashed and haydari. All delicious and served with fresh bread. Mixed Pide 5/5 - This was also great for sharing and tasting the variety of pide options. Came with cheese, minced meat, and sausage. Mix Kebab for 2 5/5 - This was more than enough to share with the five of us, as portions are large, especially when you are ordering other sides. A variety of meats including lamb, chicken, beef served with rice and salad. The meal ends with complimentary tea. Overall, delicious spot with great food but just lacks any type of service. So good that I'd still come back for their food.

First visit to Efendi after driving by this restaurant so many times. I shared the beef doner and…read morethe mixed pide with a friend, and we left feeling stuffed and still had leftovers to pack. The restaurant's modern decor makes it feel elevated, but it's not stuffy or posh inside at all. I've never had Turkish food before, so I can't comment on the authenticity or taste, but I really enjoyed our meal! The pide was like a naan, and it tasted so good with that generous cheese topping and the complimentary yoghurt-based dip. The beef doner was also tasty, and I was not expecting that gigantic pile of meat! Stuffing that beef between the flatbread with some of that yogurt dip, add some pickled red onions, cucumber, & tomato = perfection. Looking forward to my next visit!

My boyfriend surprised me with dinner at this hidden gem for Valentine's Day, which also doubled as…read moreour anniversary. It was a really nice spot for a special night... cozy, welcoming, and not overly loud. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the saganaki was definitely the standout. The wait staff brought it out and poured a shot of liquor over the cheese before lighting it on fire at the table, which added a fun touch without feeling gimmicky. Beyond the presentation, the cheese itself was excellent... crisp on the outside, warm and soft inside, and really well seasoned. Easily something I'd come back for. The mango ginger spritz was light and refreshing, not too sweet, the Australian lamb chops were cooked nicely, tender, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. We ended the perfect night with baklava and vanilla ice cream. It was flaky, just sweet enough to be shared between us. Portions weren't huge, but we left feeling content. We did have to make a reservation well in advance, which I'd definitely recommend. Prices feel appropriate for a special occasion rather than an everyday dinner. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a great experience and a place I'd happily come back to.

Yorokobi Japanese Restaurant - Pressed salmon sushi

I've been to Yorokobi a couple times before, it's always been great! Just as good as quality sushi…read moreyou may find Downtown or in Asian neighbourhoods in the GTA. We ordered this time the Yorokobi set for 2 and upgraded the sushi to brown rice for $5 extra and upgraded the green dragon roll that came with the meal to volcano salmon roll (which is one of their popular special rolls) and paid the difference. We also added a hamachi carpaccio just for more more protein for my SO because he thinks it might not be enough, but we were left super full. I love that the sushi wasn't loaded with rice and it was thinly included, we did mention that we usually don't like that much and the server said they can even adjust the rice content in the sushi.... We didn't confirm to adjust it but perhaps they went with it because rice is perfectly thin in the maki and less than usual for a nigiri, which is great because otherwise I don't know if we would have finished the meal. $5 to upgrade to brown rice for the sushi set that didn't have that much rice is still IMO a bit steep. Other that, the sushi is fresh, the special rolls are eye catching and tasty and the hamachi carpaccio was good too, LOVE the presentation. I think the best thing here is still their special rolls though! Server is so personable and made sure we were well taken care of. Only feedback I have here is the miso soup that with the Yorokobi set is way too salty I couldn't finish mine after a sip. Ambiance was clean with little Japanese decor throughout. They have a huge parking lot at the back and you can enter and exit from the back instead of trying the front as there is very little parking in the front lot.

The fish is as fresh as you're going to get in Toronto (given that we are far from the ocean). Sashimi is expertly prepared. Thickly sliced. The torched butterfish was sublime. The two tunas delightful. Chopped squid and wasabi very tantalizing on the tastebuds. Only criticism: they need to use a better quality soya sauce. This was a slightly rough accompaniment to the sashimi.
