Went to Pottery Barn to buy a 16 piece dish set at first they were helpful but everything turned for the worst when it was close to closing time. I wanted to purchase a beautiful white dish set but my phone was dead and I was having an issue with my card upon checkout. I wasn't sure if I had the funds in the account I use for spending. The woman helping me was very snobby and said she couldn't wait for me to go to atm. After I told her I wasn't sure she started acting very uptight saying "you don't have another credit card" after I told her previously I didn't for the "rewards" card sign up because my swipe strip is worn and wouldn't read. This made me feel like I was too cheap to shop there like credit cards give the impression of money! Wow. I personally hate credit cards. I'm a cash person own a home and rent another in LA and this is how Im treated because I don't have mountains of credit cards to swipe. She swiped my card but it got declined not due to insufficient funds but I had spent quite a bit of money and it got a fraud alerted from my bank which I later found out but my phone was dead and didn't get the alert. This has happened to me at other establishments and the sales associates were trained properly. They were polite and told me to call my bank because it may be fraud alert. I didn't get that from these two woman. I could see the frustration on their faces as if I was wasting their time now. The woman with the polka dot glasses and short black pixie cut kept shacking her head, huffing and puffing at me as if it were my fault. Then asked "weren't you in here a couple nights ago". No, I wasn't. She also kept checking my id and my card and looking at me then my id then my card. It made me feel like she thought I stole someone's card and I'm shopping on someone else's dime. It just made me not want to come back but I loved the set so much. I asked them to put it on hold and they just unpackaged everything took my name and number. You would think they would have just left everything packaged for the next day. The next day came and I went in the store dreading another terrible interaction. Accept today there were two very polite and helpful people that had correct information about what came with the set. Originally the woman with the polka dot glasses told me that the set came with whatever I wanted I could swap the small bowls for large ones which when I was checking out the night prior the price didn't match the sale price. So basically she tried to up sell me without my knowledge and tried to convince me that it was the sale price even though I knew it wasn't. I walked her over to the price tag and she didn't know why it was ringing up higher than the price. It was the larger cups that didn't come with it that she told me did. Anyhow, the new sales associates from the next day were a complete 180 compared to the last two older woman. 1 dark haired pixie cut in particular. They set me up with the right set for the sale price 113.00 for 16 piece. I left not wanting to come back but I got what I came for an I assure you I won't be back to this location. Lastly, upon speaking with the nice sales associate I asked about the rewards card that the snotty associate was offering me. She said "We don't have a rewards card but we do have a credit card." So the snotty black pixie cut employee tried to set up a credit card masking it as a rewards card. Are you serious? Luckily my card wouldn't work because I would've had a credit card at a place I don't even shop. How shady! read more

Been in here several times and each time I am ignored or not taken seriously. My last visit which was 2 weeks ago, my husband and I walked in to look at their patio furniture. We were greeted by a lady. But after that we could not get anyone's attention. We continued to look at bedroom sets. I had a question on the one we were looking at. The same lady was walking by and when I said excuse me, she said oh hold on and rushed to the other side of the store. We walked out. Horrible service. Not sure if I should take it personal, maybe they think we can afford it or they're just lacking customer service skills. Either way, their lost. read more

I used to really like this store. Beautiful home decor and nice prices. But this location is so elitist now, I don't even bother going in. The women that work there are snobby, they barely acknowledge you if you walk in. They even lock their bathrooms now. Everything about this store screams "stay out". Explains why it is almost always empty nowadays. Too bad. Promenade used to be a nice place to shop. Now every store is empty because of this syndrome. read more

Often times I come in here and the older sales people are rather rude and treat me as if I have no business being in there because I'm too young to afford their product. I am in my late 20's so I get it. I am a LONG time pottery barn fan and consumer. The majority of my home furniture and decor is from here. Last night my shopping experience was the most pleasant I've ever had in this location Wendy and Kelly helped me pick out the perfect holiday throw pillows to dress up my PB comfort roll arm couch for the holidays. They were so fun and you could tell they liked what they did. I truly hope they are there every time I come in to make a purchase. We had the best experience at this location tonight. From the minute we stepped into the store until the time we left we were amazed by the customer service and management of this store. Danielle assisted us with our needs and she really new all aspects of the stores merchandise and systems. She went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating. Most of the sales associates at this location are so rude and sassy! We just bought a new home so I have been purchasing pieces often. I prefer to shop online but think they receive some type of commission so I try and call so one of them can get the sale. Once I had to order a few things around $1000. The woman was so rude and incompetent! I was on the phone for over an hour. I just called for another order and Wendy, maybe the same as the first order, was so sassy. I was reading her exactly what was on their website and she acted like I was speaking a different language. One time I went in and dealt with an African American woman who was extremely helpful! The store associates were really nice, and two of the 3 associates came up to greet me, asking if I needed anything. I appreciated their friendliness. Worst experience ever! I ordered a mirror to have in my home before the holidays. It was scheduled to arrive in 3-5 weeks, 1 week before thanksgiving. Here we are 7 weeks since I placed my order and I have nothing. After several calls to customer service, I was finally told that I would be contacted in 3 weeks to let me know when my mirror will be delivered!! That's 10 weeks after I placed my order I will know when it will be delivered, which could be who knows how much longer after!! I was never contacted by anyone to let me know the delivery dates they set were not going to be met. This was a complete disaster! read more

It starts from the top down, with a manager who rolls her eyes at customers then complains that she's stressed-out due to being alone in the store without help. Two of the women that work here are rude and snobby. I wanted to buy a slipcover for my Pottery Barn knock off sectional. I knew that the slipcover would fit based on the measurements and besides, any altering that it might need could be done since my mom is a seamstress. I just didn't want to make the "whole" slipcover because of the amount of work, so I thought I'd look into this option. I just wanted to know how much the damn thing costs and if I could feel the fabric. The lady (brown/blonde hair, mid 50's) asked, "Is it a pottery barn sectional?" When I told her it was a knock off, her tone was rude and she curtly told me it wouldn't fit. Period. I asked to see/ possibly order a red one anyway. She said she'd call to see if they had any. However, she didn't even ask if they had one. Instead, she just reiterated that she was right.... that, in fact, it just wouldn't fit. She just hung up and said, "Yeah, it won't fit." She also told me that it would not be returnable and wanted me to "understand that." Wow, she was so rude and mean! I told her I understood and that was ok. So I asked, "Can I just find out how much it would cost if I were to buy one anyway?" I asked. She sighed and acted very put out and said "Yes, but I need to help this customer first and I'll be with you in a minute." She never came over to me when she was done. She just glared and sent another saleswoman over to "help" me. She was a little less rude, but snobby nonetheless. My mom and I just left and I'll never go back. I just wanted to recognize Mike, Natasha and Deb for their awesome help figuring out my giftcard situation the other day! I still had a balance left from a wedding gift...from almost 5 years ago and it just didn't want to work. All three of them spent more time than anyone should have to dealing with this issue and they all did so with big smiles and just the best attitudes! We actually all laughed about it and had fun with it. And they finally got it to work and I'm now the proud owner of some gorgeous plates and bowls! Thank you all so much for being so wonderful at your jobs!!! I don't shop at Pottery Barn than often (clearly--ha!) but I will do so more often now thanks to this above and beyond experience. We have been Pottery Barn customers for over 20 years and have always had a positive experience when shopping at it's other stores. However, the sales associates at the Temecula location, where I have shopped since they opened a few years ago, have never been the nicest to deal with. Professional? Yes. Friendly? No. But my most recent experience was with a sales associate that was downright rude! While shopping last week, my husband and I found some marked down dinner plates that we liked on a clearance shelf, so we decided to buy them using an e-gift card from American Express. We had difficulty accessing the e-gift card certificates on my husband's phone so we asked an associate to hold the plates until the next morning so that we could print the certificates from home. He told us he could not hold them because they were accidentally discounted and that if we didn't buy them before closing the price would be higher the next day. So we went home to print the certificates and returned to the store about an hour before closing. A different salesperson, Lee, was closing a register when we returned to make our purchase. She gave us an annoyed look and an exasperated sigh and she said we would have to wait at a different (unmanned) register while she finished. As she processed our purchase, she was unable to input the information from our gift cards, apparently because of recent changes to Pottery Barn's register system. She tried several times, each time making comments in a curt tone that suggested we were inconveniencing her. We waited about 15 minutes for her to figure things out when I offered to try pull up the cards electronically on my phone to see if that might help and she snapped at me, "Sweetie, that isn't going to work." She then got a message from "the system" that our gift cards were "declined" and began questioning us about where we got them. This was both embarrassing and humiliating as by this time two other customers had formed a line behind us. We told Lee to go ahead and help the people who were waiting. As Lee helped the next customer in line, I decided to call American Express to see if they might have a solution to our egift card problem. I had just finished my call when another couple came to the register with a much larger purchase and Lee turned her attention to them for about 10 minutes rather than allowing us to finish out purchase. When I interrupted, asking if one of the other associates (who had been standing at another counter doing nothing the whole time) could help us, she said again, in the same irritated tone "No. I'll get back to you in a minute." After almost an hour, we decide to make our purchase with our credit card because of the issues Lee was having with processing our egift cards. As we were leaving, Lee offered us a disingenuous apology and then to "possibly help us out for our trouble" next time we come in, whatever that means. One star, because we really love the dinner plates. read more

I went into Pottery Barn on December 22nd .A sales associate was in a deep conversation with a customer.I asked her if i could get my Christmas stocking rang up at this register. Yes, so i waited until she was finished with her conversation. A line was forming behind me. Yes i was next in line.The line had only 2 people beside myself.Then she condescendingly replied you cut in line, i was shocked,then she asked 2 people are you sure i can ring her up are you sure are you sure!! Extremely rude and honestly i just wanted to walk out. The look on these customers faces was shocking they couldn't believe she was so rude. I shop here often and never before have i had such horrible rude service, I just had to let you know.Just not the Christmas spirit you would expect. read more

I was directed to the Temecula Pottery Barn with a list of suggestions for my bosses daughter's wedding gift. I was immediately greeted by Debra, a sales manager. She had a warm smile and listened to my quest. She glanced through my list and in a matter of minutes had four or five wonderful suggestions. She wasn't pushy at all, and I bought a bunch of furniture. She offered to do another visit once everything is delivered to design a tabletop and accessorize. Don't order furniture from the online catalog website! I waited 2 months for some barstools, (later than promised), when I finally got them the quality was substandard, the leather thin and not well stitched and the stools were not the same height as advertised. Made in China, a fact not posted in the description. Since when does PB have its furniture made in China? And I had paid about $700 each! They went back (via me driving them to my closest store) on 10/24 and I'm still waiting for a credit to my PB credit card here on 11/16. Am about 3 hours of phone time so far in to trying to resolve. Yesterday was told that I would receive a "merchandise card" in the mail. Up to then I had been promised credit to the card. Last contact said I have to now wait for that card and then call again to have the card reversed. Have now had to dispute the charge to the bank card so as not to owe a finance charge. Un-be-fricking-lievable. Hopefully this will all get resolved, but I'm never ordering furniture from PB again. read more

I just wanted to share two amazing experiences I've had with Debra at the Temecula store over the past month. I've been a customer for twenty years, and usually just wander in and come out with something amazing. I recently bought a couch from P.B. and went into the Temecula store and found a rug that I thought would match it. Debra went out of her way to find a fabric sample of the couch to compare to the rug. In addition, she researched the rug on line and found out that it was offered significantly less expensive than in the store and honored that price. She spent a lot of time with me and really went above and beyond to make sure that I got the best deal and was completely satisfied. Yesterday, I went back into the store and was interested in purchasing two end table lamps. Someone had switched one of the filials, so they didn't match. She helped me find the matching one. When I was checking out, I mentioned that someone had called me from the store to mention that I had a certificate for $100 available to use. It was near closing on Saturday night, so I said I would just pay for them and come back on another day to use the credit. She insisted on calling the support center and confirmed that I had a $100 credit that had just expired. She honored the credit and so I saved $100 off the lamps. While I was waiting to be helped, (I wanted to make sure that Debra helped me based on my excellent experience with her), I watched her interacting with a couple that had to return something and were deciding on whether to purchase some decorative pillows. She went above and beyond with them as well, helping them to choose patterns that were complementary to her furniture. Around the holidays, I had purchased some glass ornament string lights that didn't function. Two of the ladies in the store called all over trying to find me a replacement set. They had sold out almost everywhere as it was after the holidays. They tracked some down for me, and had them shipped, free of charge. All in all, I can't say enough wonderful things about the Debra and the staff at the Temecula store. Kudos to you all!!!! and thanks for all your personal assistance and care. read more
