We love this store and we love our regular sales person that has gotten to know us well over the years. We are regular customers and have filled our home with purchases made here. I don't appreciate the apparently white female worker that stopped above and our helpful salesperson on the stairwell to ask what I felt is a racial profiled question. The body position of that worker above us and the question has me reeling. Do not bother and potentially hurt a sale. We are customers, not former employees- we may not look like GOOD customers to this apparently white female worker but we are. The question was simple- "Are you former employees" or something to that effect. Why ask that question? Do we not look like customers? Do customers not look like us? Do your customers usually have a characteristic? I'd probably say normally not but put your stereotyping away. If your coworker needs help or a correction to get to work in another part of the store then wait until the customer is distracted or has left. Do not potentially ruin a current or possible future sale with your offensive inquiry. I'm rating 5 stars for the store, for our favorite Pottery Barn employee and I'm planting a seed to the apparently white privileged staff to check yourself. read more

I ordered 3 counter stools from Pasadena Pottery Barn at the beginning of September 2021 with an expected delivery date of January 6, 2022. I was charged over $1,800 on my credit card on November 30, 2021 for the counter stools. The order tracking page for the stools produced an error following January 6th. I have following up over 8 times with PB Customer Service, PB Scheduling, and PB Pasadena to see the updated status of my order. PB Customer service has been nothing but unhelpful and have failed to produce any new information for a full month. Meanwhile, I am still charged $1,846 while Pottery Barn doesn't know where my order is! Every single PB Customer Service rep on email or phone has failed to figure out where my order is. PB's patented response is always "please wait 7-10 business days. We are very sorry." Shipping delays are expected and OK during a pandemic. Pottery Barn charging customers over $1,800 due to their own negligence is unacceptable. read more

While looking for new furniture for my house, we stopped by Pottery Barn after going to Crate and Barrel down the street in Pasadena. I like the Pottery Barn furniture better than the C&B, but they are more expensive. Do you get what you pay for? Probably, but I did not end up buying anything from Pottery Barn because I'm on a budget. However, if I had more money to spend on furniture, I'd definitely shop at Pottery Barn. About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I purchased 2-battery operated flicker candles from this location. When I tried to operate one of the candles at home, I noticed the flicker was not moving like the other candle and it remained in a stationary position. Yesterday, I called the store to ask if I could make an exchange without the box it originally came in. I spoke with Ray and he reassured me I could make the exchange because it was within 30 days as long as I had the receipt, which I did. When I arrived at the store, a gentleman with dark hair (did not know his name) proceeded to help me. I told him I wanted to make an exchange because the "flame" was not working correctly. He looked at the candle and said, "You see, this is broken because it's stuck and not moving." I replied, "I understand that. That is why I am exchanging it for another candle that works." He directs me to the customer service window where he was at and asks to look at the receipt. He says, "It looks like you've already made an exchange here." I replied, "Yes, because the first time, the box had the wrong color candle." He proceeded to say in a more aggressive tone, "Well, it's broken and it looks like you put something heavy on top of the candle for it to not work." I started to reply in a similar tone because he obviously did not want to listen to what I had to say. "No, this is a defective product that was broken when I left the store." I noticed the other customers starting to look in my direction. Then, with a disgruntled attitude, he starts to wrap and package the correct, working candle. I wanted to leave this review to let the company and its customers know that the customer service was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I was reprimanded for exchanging a defective product for a functional one even when I met the criteria for making the exchange. Yes, the flicker to the candles are fragile but when you open the top cover of the box while in the store, there is no way to detect how the flicker is to be positioned or stationary when it's not operating. No one would have 2 D+ batteries on their persons to verify this. I will not be returning to this location. They need to seriously consider implementing a training program on customer service 101. read more

I have always been a fan of Pottery Barn; and happy to say still am! Absolutely gorgeous and creative merchandise, home décor, furniture, knick-knacks! Yes, most items are not cheap and one can find relative similar items at HomeGoods now and then; but definitely they're not the same quality and for sure not consistently. They are few of the stores that I know of that have really nice office accessories that are posh looking but not too fancy. I love visiting the store for ideas, for enjoyment, and always for their seasonal items; so so creative! I just found acorns in natural colors and in gold! Also metallic color pumpkins! Parking is always a hit and miss thing, based on the time of day; but it's Old Pasadena, and if you walk few blocks, there is always a parking spot somewhere. In the past five years that we visit this store, around 3-4 times a year, we have always encountered pleasant associates! Can't wait to go back for the Christmas and Holiday items in few weeks! read more

Warning!!! Do not try and return online purchases and exchange it. They will not make exchanges. They say if you want merchandise credit it will be mailed to you in 7-10 days. Which means that while you wait on them to refund your credit card and purchase something new they will be holding on to 2x the money you originally planned on spending. So if a sale is happening and it ends during the time your are waiting to get your money back your out of luck. I have never had a problem with returning from online and exchange for a product in store anywhere else. I would understand if I was returning something like a piece of furniture that cost a lot but a duvet cover they should be able to exchange for a different one. Looking elsewhere for a nice winter cover don't want to give this company my money. read more

Over the past 9 months, we have been coming here as we have decorated our new home. We use to go to the Pottery Barn in Manhattan Beach, but I find the customer service better at this location. The associates have been more helpful and friendly than I experienced at the MB location. I have visited during the busiest evenings (xmas time) and slow times and the service has been consistent. As a bonus, when we were purchasing a new rug for our bedroom, I asked if they had a military discount and they said they didn't, but gave us a discount anyway. Nice. read more

My last experience warrants an upgraded review. Gaby and Bernie went above and beyond to help me fix the frame of my patio umbrella that snapped during high winds. After reviewing my pictures I sent, it was unfixable and it would have to be replaced. After numerous back and forth emails, Bernie said he would follow up with me. So I went about my day and by the early evening, he emailed me to inform me he found a pole and frame to be replaced! Then to not charge me for it and ship it at no cost?! There is a God! We got a coffee table as well as a floor model dining table at an insanely awesome price with her hook up. When the delivery lagged by a few days, I asked Gaby when it would arrive. Due to no fault of her own (I have terrible reception and missed a call from the delivery man), Bernie then personally delivered the table to me after his shift ended on a Sunday night at 9 pm! I was simultaneously so impressed but felt so bad for making him go out of his way, but he was really kind and gracious about it. I had been wary of purchasing big items from PB given some of the prior reviews but I'm totally kicking myself now for not have purchased a couch from them too. I was looking for a chair for my birthday and saw some on the Pottery Barn website. I'm pretty picky about comfort and need to try a chair before ordering, especially since the website says that furniture orders are not to be cancelled and there are no refunds for the items. There were two issues. I walked in and the employee behind the counter downstairs was looking down and did not look up or acknowledge my presence in any way. I saw on the first floor there were mostly outdoor furniture sets, so I went upstairs. Unfortunately there were none of the chairs I was interested in to try, or at least I didn't see any. There were two employees there that I walked by, one was on the phone and the other was watching her talk on the phone. Neither acknowledged me in any way. I would think that PB would want employees who talked to the customers to find out their needs in order to make a sale. I would also think that PB would know that there are many people who have money to buy furniture online, but because there are no refunds, no way to try the furniture because it's not in the stores, and no reviews on the website, that they are losing sales. read more

This is for the website, where I will never buy from again. I hope the managers of this location share this experience with corporate because this is insane. Happy to forward you my receipt too. I purchased a $69 item before tax and ship in April, then it came and looked like a cheap piece of crap. So I returned it, and checked my cc a month later, no refund after it had been received. I called three times. The final time we realized I had been refunded after the first time I called, but guess how much? $64. Less than retail, let alone tax. And I checked my original receipt and was charged TWELVE PERCENT tax (I live in CA where tax is max 10%) and $14 for shipping (their ship is normally $12) for a whopping total of $91. That coupled with the fact that I was refunded less than even the retail price blows my mind, and also the mind of the rep I spoke to. Luckily she nicely refunded the remainder including shipping (which is a rip-off and they normally don't refund). Get it together Pottery Barn!! I've had way better experiences with small boutiques and will never shop here again. Check your receipts and do the math because apparently their system can't. read more

I will never be shopping at Pottery Barn or any of the companies listed below First of all, I found the customer service poorly lacking in the Pasadena, CA store. I went ahead and purchased a set of sheets that I paid full price for to take them home for a color match because there is no way to get a sample of the fabric at the store or online. I took the sheets to my home, and they were not the right color. I never unwrapped them and I kept my receipt. I did not take them back right away because I was planning on buying a headboard from Pottery Barn and was trying to make up my mind which one I wanted. When I return back to the store to purchase the headboard I was told that I could not return the sheets even though they were unused and still in the original packaging and I had the receipt. I did not ask for cash back I only wanted a store credit towards the headboard I was purchasing. The price of the headboard with over $1000 more than the cost of the sheets. Needless to say, since I could not even get a credit even though it was only a week or two after the 30 day deadline Pottery Barn will be losing my business forever. I also find it hard to believe that the management at Pottery Barn say they have a design service that will come to your home but they have no samples of any of their linens nor can you get a sample online. You are only able to get a sample of a upholstered item's fabric. When I was interested in buying a quilt of course they did not have anything but a picture of the color and I was told by the sales person to just order it because returns are free. When I went ahead to do that I was told that it would not arrive for two months. I find their store practices not to be comparable with any of your competitors. I spent well over $500 with Boll and Branch for linens for my guest room. Their policy is that you can order the linens sleep on them for 30 days and if you don't like them still returned them. I think you can see why would feel that I am a more valued customer by their company. I don't advocate that they have that same policy but it is ridiculous that no one who works in their stores has any authority to make a decision on their own to allow a customer to return something for a store credit. I have also made sure I shared this story with all of my friends. I guess Mark and Graham Company which appears to own Pottery Barn feels that the luxury linen market is so large that they do not need my family's business now or in the future. Barbara B. read more

Why do I love furniture stores so much? Oh yeah, as a designer/ artist type, I just appreciate design. This particular store is smaller than the one in Beverly Hills but they seem to do well with their space. I came in here to get an engagement party gift for a friend last summer. My buddy came with me and was horribly shocked how expensive it is. Sure, it's not as cheap as Crate & Barrel it's about but probably about the same as Z Gallerie. I would say Z Gallerie is cooler though because they carry more funky stuff. But the name of the game that day was "wedding gift appropriate." Looking all around the store, I searched for something tasteful and won't break the bank. I finally found some square vases and river rocks. Now, it wasn't just the fact they had river rocks. They had many sorts from all around the world. I chose some greenish ones from the Yangtze River in China. I hope they don't want 'em back. A worker came by to see how we were doing as I was comparing sizes and colors of rocks. He tried to get us to look at round vases but I was set on square. Which is a good thing since their gift boxes are square and it fit easily in a box without much tissue paper. I did learn a new way of snipping ribbon to create a lovely chevron instead of slant I usually do (which will fray almost immediately) from the cashier. Good service but expensive. read more

In 2010, I spent several thousand dollars on a new bedroom set. I purchased a Hudson dresser, Hudson extra wide dresser, two Hudson side tables, and a Hudson lingerie tower. The stain or varnish on my Hudson dresser began flaking off . We have always followed the manufacturer's instructions and not used any cleaning product on the furniture, only dusted. The flaking is occurring spontaneously; nothing comes into contact with those parts of the Hudson dresser. It is getting worse by the day despite the fact no one or nothing touches it. I keep finding flakes on the floor. It appears that flaking is also beginning to occur on our Hudson extra wide dresser. Again, we have followed the manufacturer's instructions with respect to care and nothing comes into contact with the part of the dresser where the stain is starting to flake. I call PB customer service and was instructed to send an email with certain information, including photographs. I followed all of the instructions. I was told it would take 3 weeks to receive a response; if I had not received a response in 3 weeks, I was supposed to follow up. I did not receive a response and sent a follow up email. No response to that one either. I called customer service again and was told that my claim was denied because the purchase had been made over 90 days ago. I inquired why no one responded to my email and the representative said that someone *should have* contacted me. Pottery Barn does not stand by its products. I purchased the Hudson bedroom set thinking it was of great quality and would last a lifetime. I had no idea that Pottery Barn would be completely unconcerned about a defective product. At the very least, Pottery Barn could have responded to my email after I took the time to write it and attach pictures. Pottery Barn could have suggested a repair or offered to repair it. From the low merchandise (small store and poorly stocked) to there incompetent employees to the bad (really bad) parking-Very disappointing!! First off, I love this company (or I did up until this happened). This location however is a complete misrepresentation of what this company stands for. I have had two completely different experiences at this location. The first experience was when my (soon to be at that time) wife and I went in to register for our wedding. Even though we dealt with a manager, the rest of the staff that we dealt with was very pleasant, helpful, courteous, and eager to help us find anything and everything we were looking for. The second experience was when we came back to return some of the duplicate items we had received (their registry was down for a few days and had not updated some of the items that had been purchased off our registry). The sales person that was "helping" us, was not only rude, curt, and arrogant but also extremely unprofessional. I had to present my ID 3 times within fifteen minutes, and was interrogated to no end about the nature of my return. I felt like a criminal. I was only asking to simply exchange the merchandise for a store credit. I simply reminded them to check the registry for these items that had been purchased for us (where we had received over 75 gifts from our wedding guests from this exact location). We were forced to spend the entire amount of the return on the spot. I was not prepared to shop, as I had my little brother and sister with me. They told me I had no choice. I then was lectured by the clerk about what was "in style" and what was not. Apparently the choices that I made in my hasty "grab whatever I could to get the hell outta here" were not to the clerk's liking. "Only two throw pillows for your bed????" Like I must have been nuts... It's kinda sad, we just bought a house in Glendale and this location is right down the road. Horrendous customer service. All the employees look bored and apathetic. But the worst one is the "designer" on the second floor. The woman in the design center is a rude, condescending know-it-all who tries to show off her "knowledge" of furniture finishes as if everyone else is a moron. I was having a private conversation with my husband about some details of a piece that caught my eye. She walked by and without even breaking her stride or stopping to say hello or asking if we had any questions, she yelled out "that's called a *****" and she just zoomed past us. Now, to be clear, I know exactly what that finish is called but I'm not taking a test at a design school. I can speak in whatever manner is comfortable for me without having some rude middle age so-called "designer" yelling at me for not using the correct noun. I was there because my husband and I just bought a house and we need to buy furniture for almost every room in the house. After experiencing that level of rudeness, you can be sure that we won't be buying anything from Pottery Barn. Not just the Pasadena store but Pottery Barn in general. Stay away. You're better off going to Crate & Barrel or Ethan Allen or shopping online (where the selection is unmatched). It's too bad I can't zero stars. read more

With me being a Limey and all, I actually enjoy going to Pottery Barn. Yup. It is a little different to the Habitat and Next home furnishing stores that dot the UK, so I can actually happily walk around the place without wanting to gouge out my eyes with a rusty spoon. The designs, although varied, really do smack of quality and I always get a sense that, for the most part, it is well made. Although that staff were hovering around and asking if we were OK, they did not impose on our browsing, which I always welcome. This branch of Pottery Barn is by no means that largest around, it was good enough. Even though today's purchase was only a room fragrance... They were super helpful in helping me find the right sizes and even checking other stores. My only complaint is that most of their stuff is pricey but if you subscribe to their emails, you can find some good deals from time to time. This stores customer service has changed drastically . My order placed two days sago that was to be ready within 3 hours was not. A cashier was calling numerous times for the back to check . Low and behold after 20 minutes my small box came out . They still had to wrap it . While I stood and waited I was asked 6 different times if I had been helped . Maybe all the askers should have checked and prepped that orders were ready . One of the other cashiers had the sense to reassure me it was coming . What gives . I was a loyal customer so I thought it would be fun to be a part time member of the Pasadena store team. It was very stressful. There's a super hard-working store manager there who cannot be faulted. But one of the managers was a tyrant who berated me publicly and put me to process boxes in their dank basement. I got sick, couldn't breathe, had to go to emergency and thought I would die. Pottery barn corporate made me feel of no value for who I am as a woman nor for my accomplishments -- my three-language fluency, my long established experience as an accredited professional screenwriter, my UCLA MFA in film and digital media studies 2012, my dedication to a brand I liked and have on display all over my historic home. Came in looking for a mini bar set up for my new penthouse in downtown la. I was helped by a Latin gentleman (omg I can't remember his name) that new his stuff when it came down to how it should look and what type of glasses I would need for different types of drinks! He helped me set it up on a table at the store and gave me instructions on what to do when I got home along with what kind of bottles to buy. I think my bar looks great I am so happy with it! I am not sure what security system they use to deter theft but I hope it is a good one because the employees are not paying attention. I popped in to buy a $5 candle. Stood at the register for 5 minutes and saw not a single person. I could hear people talking maybe from a back room. I decided I could get the candle anywhere and left it on the counter and departed. As I left it occurred to me that I could have just taken the candle. In fact if I had a decent size shopping bag I could have walked out with a haul. Can't comment on the customer service folks as I never saw one, but I hope someone is keeping a eye on the store. read more

This is definitely 'Pottery Barn Light." This is a small store on a crowded, busy corner. I adore Pottery Barn and love Pottery Barn Kids, but not this location. This location is tiny. Maybe they have the same merchandise as other locations, but it just doens't seem they have the same variety. I know there have been times I was looking to check out something I saw in the catalog and couldn't find what I was looking for. Yes, the prices are high here but their merchanside does go on sale. Sometimes the sales staff can be a bit snobby, but then again... so can I. I just give them attitude right back and then spare them the hassel of benefitting from my commission. read more

Great service, solid items, and a good place to find Christmas decorative items - not to mention their towels are super soft. Came here due to a gift card redemption, so naturally, we decided to get a Christmas present for a special individual we've been racking our brains on. I can't remember the gentleman that helped us, but it looks like his associate number is 351947, worked on the top floor, he was very supportive and was able to narrow in on something that we thought would be a good present - natural agate stone book ends. Yes, it might not look that pretty online, but in person, it's pretty impressive. Yes, the cost for such bookends probably could be cheaper elsewhere, but then it would loose that.. personal touch. Yes, I probably would't have gotten it without a gift card. And Yes, they packaged it very nicely - kudos again to the dude on the top floor, you definitely made it happen. Overall, will be back again - but I wish they can carry pottery barn kids items as well - as we've been eyeing a rocker for quite some time now. Overall, a very pleasant, and hassle free experience. She went out of her way to complete my order by gathering other placemats from other locations to complete my order. I needed 25 placemats for an event I'm planning once covid restrictions ease up. The manager was so helpful as well. They made great suggestions for napkins and beautiful dishes that really completed the setting. The store was clean and had hand sanitizer by the front door. I love Pottery Barn and wish I could furnish my entire home with their products. Since my parents just purchased a new home, they were looking for some new furniture. My mom and I came to Pottery Barn in Pasadena to look for a new dining set. This Pottery Barn is definitely smaller than others I've visited. The layout is different: merchandise is located on the first floor while the "Design Center" is located on the second. We walked around the first floor where the dining tables were located to check out some of the merchandise and found absolutely no one to help us. Thinking that maybe we could talk to someone from the Design Center to help us out with a dining set, we went upstairs. Again, no one was to be found, except one associate at the service desk. I ask her whether there was someone to help us find a dining table. She answers: "They're all downstairs. Was there no one there?" I stared at her and said, "No. No one came up to us." She assured us that someone would be down there to help us. So we go downstairs again and this time an associate met with us, but she had one of the most lackluster attitudes I've ever seen. We were pretty serious about a particular table and asked what it was made of. She said, "Oh, I don't know. I'll have to look in the catalog." REALLY? So then we ask if it's in stock. Again she says "I'll have to check." After waiting for 10 minutes for this girl to check on the materials and the stock, we walk up to the register and find her checking people out at the register. Apparently there were only 2 employees available in the whole store. She saw us standing there waiting for her and didn't approach us or tell us it would be a few minutes. Out of frustration, we left and she lost out on a 5K sale. On the plus side, the employees at Crate & Barrel (just down the street) were so helpful and the design consultant we worked with was more than patient with us and seemed actually knowledgeable about their products. I don't think I will visit this PB again. The 2 stars are for their merchandise, which I really do like. read more
