Always loved potbelly anywhere I've had it. Way better than subway. Glad we have one now. Went for lunch and got a skinny build your own veggie sub and made it a combo all for $12. I like that they toast their subs. Service was good and friendly and the place is outfitted nicely with drink station and condiments . Plenty of seating inside and it's very spacious. They have a nice menu with variations on subs, wraps, salads, soups and shakes. Liked the whole wheat bread and lots of toppings. It's nice they have different chips then all the other sandwich places. All in all a good lunch spot and if you sign up for their rewards you'll get a free sub next time round after you purchase one . Not a bad deal. read more

I've been here multiple times and wasn't sure how to rate it... but now I know. Italian Sub on first visit was great, really liked the bread and flavors with the hot peppers. The meat is pretty skimpy as far as Italian subs go and the price is high for the small quantity. Not a great value but a 4 star sandwich overall. Cubano was also pretty good, not pressed like a true Cubano, but still a solid sandwich option worthy of 3-4 stars on its own. Chicken Salad was flavorless and bland, plus got a bad piece of bread that was tough and stale, not at all like the bread that I loved on previous visits. Ended up throwing this sandwich the trash it was that bad. 1 star. Mama's Meatball was horrible. I think they thinned out the sauce with water, way too much water! It was a watery mess that had zero flavor. When you see marinara poured over the top of meatballs your mouth salivates with anticipation of that tomato flavor... not here. This sandwich also went in the trash. 1 star. Deleted the app. At $10 per sandwich they need to execute better than this. read more

Potbelly is a national chain that has just opened a spot here in Winston Salem. Their specialty is toasted subs and they have a lot of great choices. Today we were greeted at the door by a super friendly employee who showed us the ordering process and even recommended a couple of his favorite items to consider. The menu is posted up on the wall so you can see all the offerings easily above everyone's head. They have three sizes of sandwiches and also have wraps available if you don't want bread. They will even take out the inside of the bread, they call this a FLAT sandwich if you would like. Today I ordered a Cubano sandwich and my husband got the Italian. We both got it on white in the original size. I added onions and lettuce to my sandwich. The sandwiches go through a little conveyor belt toaster. They opened the bread up and add your meat and cheese, then put it through the toaster. After it comes from the toaster, they add the cold toppings and condiments. I saw some people get their sandwich on un toasted bread and then there's an option to get only the bread toasted and not the filling inside. They are happy to make it however you would like so don't be afraid to ask. The line moved very quickly, and every employee was super friendly. At the end of the line you pay at the register and you can choose to add a drink, chips or a cookie as well. We chose a bag of spicy potato chips, and we also got a magic bar and a fountain drink. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers being new, but we did find a table to sit at. We had to clean it off ourselves from the previous customers, but that's OK. Our sandwiches were packed with meat and I felt were very balanced. I really liked all the flavors of mine. My husband's Italian was really good but a little too spicy for me. The employee at the entrance did warn us their pepper sauce/relish was quite spicy so watch out and maybe get it on the side. He ignored that suggestion and got it on his sandwich so he was definitely drinking plenty of liquid during the meal. Our spicy chips gave no relief either. I liked potbelly a lot. The sandwiches are reasonably priced for high-quality meat and the service they provide as well. They have a kids menu which is right up my alley. I'll have to try one of the items on that one next time and see if it's a good value for what you get. read more

This was my first visit to Potbelly. I love a good sandwich and was excited to try theirs. I got my go to favorite, the italian. The sub comes toasted and the meats were tasty. They offer lots of fresh toppings. I was curious about the hot peppers so they put them on the side. They are very spicy so I was glad they put them on the side. I made it a combo and had chips and a drink. They have Tractor juice and lemonade which was great because I am not a soda drinker. The staff was nice and answered my questions since it was my first time. They have a variety of table seating and the decor is cute. Overall I really enjoyed it and would come back when I want a toasted sub. read more

It was a new place and we were craving a sandwich. It was clean and had really cool decor. The service Jaray gave was excellent! I could feel all of his potential in life he was cleaning the tables after he cashed us out and brought us our soup and banana milkshake! My husband and I sparked up a conversation and he was extremely professional and polite! He has great potential and is going to go far in life! He really made our entire visit! The food was so so wasn't really impressed with our wrap or sandwich. The milkshake on the other hand was delicious! I'm really giving it a 5 star for Jaray's customer service! read more

This was a last minute choice my wife and I tried. We loved the decor and the staff, especially Jaray, were very helpful and polite. Truly some awesome people. Plenty of parking. The banana pudding milkshake was incredible. Highly recommend. Unfortunately the sandwiches were not that good. My Prime Rib Steak Sandwich was very fatty and I did not like the flavors very much. Just opened a couple weeks ago - got to check it out today. My rating is all about the taste. The taste is 5 stars. That sandwich is good - yum. Like can't wait to go back. Some other things are clunky. App didn't let us pay to finish - just spins with cute pot belly icon. Tried a dozen times. Ordering a bit clunky - you order your sandwiches, salads and shakes at first gap - but only the bread, meat, and cheese you want - rest gets handled in next gap. You can't see your sandwich or toppings - so that part is hard. They forgot cheese on my salad, used a nasty tomato with stem, but those are rookie mistakes. Salad is good quality, the banana pudding milkshake was fire, and the prime rib sandwich is memorable. Staff here is super, place is cool inside, and it's in the Academy Sports plaza. I was able to go to the grand opening. I got there early and was able to get a pack of coupons for a free sandwich for a year. The owners were really nice. The workers were nice as well. I love the photos on the wall. It shows people the atmosphere of Winston. The sandwich overall was really good. I can't wait to return! read more

Mama and I decided to go to potbelly Sandwich shop as she read about their grand opening in the newspaper yesterday. We got there and it was pretty crowded and extremely hot inside as there were no blinds at the windows. We ordered the original sized sandwich as there are three sizes: skinny, which is small the original which is medium sized and the large. We got tuna salad on multigrain bread with oil and vinegar, cucumbers, and lettuce. Mama also ordered a lemonade which she had to get herself from the fountain and the total for these three items was $24.02. That seemed a little expensive to me, but I guess it's about average for a high-end sandwich shop. They also had chips cookies and broccoli cheddar soup. They also make milkshakes which a couple of people ordered. They have several varieties of sandwiches, including a Cuban and one that is like a BLT. The three employees that we interacted with were all very friendly and kind. Before we tasted our sandwiches, we said that we would never go back but when we tasted them, we said we would definitely go back! read more

Could use more seating space is narrow with hard sound reflecting surfaces would be noisy when crowded. Got the prime rib on wheat added lettuce, bread was toasted loved that crust and that's where it ended the meat was sparse bland chewy diced chunks and if you didn't see it before the bite you wouldn't know it was there I did see onions mixed in with the overpowering garlic aioli it was all I could taste could only make it through half the sandwich. I got a chicken bacon ranch wrap and a regular drink. It was $15. It claimed to have 69 grams of protein. I weigh my food out a lot I know what that should be. It was maybe 25-30 grams of protein if that. Barely any food in the wrap. It was like something you could get at the grocery store deli for $5. The chicken was rubbery. Not having a menu or a register at the beginning is so stupid. You have to tell the employees 3 different times what you ordered. I'm never going back. Went and got 2 subs only subs 30.00. That's crazy and mine wasn't all that, but the Manager with pink hair was ringing me up on one register and another person on the other register.
