I rented a mailbox here in 2020 when my mail was vanishing at the place I rented, the landlord would not replace the mailbox at the rental house with a locking one, so I was forced to rent a box somewhere. Although I recently moved to a place with a superior landlord and a locking mailbox, I do plan to keep the box at least another year. I chose this location because it was close to my home, and I could have packages delivered there as well. I've mentioned numerous times that the key sticks in the lock to the former owners as well as the new owners, and nothing has been done; that's the only reason for four stars. Well, that and the fact that they're not open until 6 on Saturday or at all on Sunday. (Amazon delivers on Sunday and it's always a problem for me-I should pay closer attention to delivery dates) They are always very kind, and happy to see their customers. read more

The husband and wife team, Raja and Uma, own this store. They're the sweetest people I've met in Novato. They are fun and very, very nice. They helped me (the stooge) pack and ship two cases of wine to clients. Actually, THEY packed and shipped them; I stood there in complete awe of their savvy, calculating minds as they carefully and skillfully packed my Plumpjack treasures. This is possibly the worst postal anything I've ever encountered. I do not give bad reviews unless I have been wronged twice. So, it happened..... 1) First time they lied and said the cheapest rate for a package was X when I knew that the Post Office can ship book rate/parcel post. They cannot and will lie and tell you theirs is the cheapest rate including the Post Office. So.........they are LIARS to start. 2) I needed to mail 2 checks to relatives in Germany yesterday. I figured DHL would get them their checks faster. The clerk, seriously a child of possibly 16 on summer break made me wait for 10 minutes while she found a box for another customer, never actually telling me what was going on. Then, she had to call someone about shipping to Germany and said that it would cost $59 to send ONE CHECK to Germany via DHL!!!! I just mailed both of the checks via the post office for $2.80 each. These people are going to rip you off if you let them. Be CAREFUL as I know Novato does not have a lot of services like this company provides. Just remember they hire incompetents and habitually lie. Finally, they incredibly slow, don't tell you how long you have to wait and actually ignore your very existence regularly. Customer service sucks. read more

So Helpful! Went here after spending 45 min. in line at the post office!!! The post office wouldn't tape my box shut. The tape gun was sitting on the counter, within reach and they wouldn't tape it shut. The crusty man behind the counter said "i dint have time for that". Made my way over to the Postal Annex, easy!!! No line, super helpful-even taped my box!! No need to go to the post office ever again. It sucks. read more

Yes. Sometimes you wait, but thats the cost of good service at rush hours. The management is professional, knowledgeable, and very capable. I sent two pakgs that weighed in at 40+ lbs., 1 overnight pkg and they filled in the info, all in 20 minutes. I did have to wait for the 2 customers ahead of me, but I was so impressed with the service given I purchased a box there, as I've always wished to have somewhere for those bill to go without being lost in my own piles at home. Also, for std shippig of packages and the overnights I receive annually, it made sense to have a box, That took 10 minutes and I got 2 keys -post office makes you buy1. and I can pay month to month, if I just want it for vacations. The postoffice machines don't always work, so buying stamps as a convenience, makes sense to charge a fee. What do \you 7eleven and the rest are doing when they charge 1.50 for coke or milk or even cat food, Kudos and much good fortune to those in charge of this Postal Annex. read more

I've been to both Novato locations and found the people friendly and helpful - A LOT BETTER than the usual USPS grouch. Both times, I just dropped off a UPS package so I haven't actually used their service - I wouldn't be surprised if it is a bit more expensive than USPS, but it is a much pleasanter experience than waiting in the long lines at USPS and being greeted by an impatient, grouchy person. read more

I needed to send a framed glass poster to another state. I had packed it really well. Took it inside, was helped immediately. I did not fill out any forms or labels. The lady behind the counter took info off package and out popped the mailing label with everything on it. It arrived on the day and time provided and in perfect condition. The gals at this Postal Annex Plus center always welcome customers warmly. Their service is thorough and accurate, and they have always checked to see if I need other services (like stamps & such). There are always supplies available if I forget to bring scissors or tape to close my packages before mailing them, and the staff is always helpful in suggesting ways I can save money because they know our economy has put a church on everyone's budget. They even offered me 3 months FREE rental with the 6-month mailbox rental I paid for, so that saved me 40% over what the post office would have charged. I am grateful for their service, and for their friendly atmosphere! read more

please do not ship international packages from this store. I sent package to china, and requested insurance. The package was never received in China, and I learned that the package was not even insured! This was a $500 equipment return. Now I'm out of pocket, the cost of the item, and the merchant did not receive package. If you don't know how to ship a package to China, then please let your customer know before hand. This is a costly mistake and I intend to seek damages somehow! read more

They charge $10.50 for 20 stamps that should be $8.80, and claimed it's a convenience charge. The lady was nice enough to offer a refund after I paid but just wanted to let people know that they do charge extra. I can't speak of their other services, but paying an extra $1.70 for 20 stamps is a rip in my book. It's not a matter or money, but more of a matter of principle to not charge almost 20% markup on just stamps. read more

These folks could not be nicer and more helpful - Raja and Uma. I had to box up two large pieces of art for a flight to Moscow and only had about 90 minutes to do it. That's a tall order since nobody has boxes just sitting around that size. Uma called her husband who came in and spent an hour fabricating a box for the paintings and wrapped everything up very carefully. We made it with time to spare - and they did not try to gouge me on the cost, even though I was at their mercy. If anything, they undercharged me and saved my bacon. Still, all the times I've been here I get cold, impersonal service without the slightest smile or appreciation of my business, as if I'm an inconvenience to their day. This is the only shipping store in Novato that ships via more than one service, and we had 4 cases of pretty nice wine left after our wedding reception. Shipping wine can be challenging (seriously, not all companies will do it), so we needed to come here over the FedEx store. We were the only people in the store to begin with, but it was the opposite of efficient despite the lack of a line. There were two women, and it took a lot of time to find what appeared to be four used wine shipping boxes. My husband packed them up, and then the waiting started. Instead of helping us (the first customers) to completion, a line started to form. And get longer. And we were ignored after packing up the boxes, but before we had printed shipping labels and paid. One of the women seemed more knowledgable about their services, so she was in the highest demand. They wanted us to leave our address, pay, and apply the shipping labels after we left and the line had dissipated. Um, no. Instead, I politely informed them that we had a flight to catch (it was close to noon, and we had to return our car at SFO at 2:30) and said that we needed to stay until the labels were applied and we had tracking numbers for all 4 boxes. They agreed, and printed and applied the shipping labels, but we felt like we were putting them out. If you have a quick task, I'd recommend coming here, because they'll let you hop the line. If you have a more involved task, expect to spend at least an hour here (we here here well over an hour). If you can't ship via FedEx, you'll need to come here, but I'd seriously consider driving 15 minutes south to Terra Linda or San Rafael if I had a big job. I've come in at least 10 times; and every single time it's the same package! A nylon bracelet that I am shipping out too a buyer. Everytime I come in the lady acts like it's the first time I ever done this! All I need is a basic shipping with tracking. It usually costs me $5.75. well yesterday she grabbed my package and said what's in here it's hard? It's a nylon bracelet I said, she rings me up and asked me again is it Priority? I said no just regular shipping with tracking please. She rings me up and my total is $6.32, I ask why so much? You usually charge me $5.75, she says it's for your protection because your package is hard inside. I paid and left so upset! How come all of a sudden she charges me way more? Everytime I went it was the same package Everytime!!! How can she not remember, I'm always in my work uniform when I go in. I can't believe she did that. Never again am I going back! That's just rediculious! I'll go out of my way on my days off to go to the Post office which is just $3.00! read more

I would highly suggest that you do not use this company. The two women that work there are really not in touch with reality. This is not the first time that I have been there and every time they seem confused and the language barrier does not help. This is the last time for me. I dropped of a QVC package and they took the label placed it on and handed me a receipt. only thin is the package came back to me. I'm low rating Postal Annex because of their markup on postage stamps. The post office charges $9.20 for 20 First Class Forever Stamps ($0.46/stamp). Postal Anex charged me $11.00 for the same 20 stamps ($0.55/stamp). This is a markup of about 20%. I would not have objected to paying $0.20 per 20 stamp sheet to cover their service but a 20% markup is quite excessive. It leads me to wonder about their markup on other products that they sell. I think that customers should be wary and do comparison shopping before using their services. read more

I can't say enough about this postal annex! The owners, Neeraja and Naren are so friendly and helpful. They are very good at offering suggestions. They will package or repackage your items for shipping with a lot of care so it won't be damage during the shipping time. The service here is excellent. I'm really surprised to see some negative reviews. I've used them on a number of occasions now and found them to be friendly and extremely helpful (lifting boxes for me, not charging me to use a bit of tape etc). They have used boxes for sale so you can save a bit on packaging and they taught me the trick of trimming down a box to save on shipping cost-huge savings for an oddly sized item. Plus, they deal with all major carriers and have pick ups late in the day. Great find! read more

Every time I walk in the 2 ladies are very rude. I walk in yesterday the lady gives me the evil eye. She sees me trying to pack my box with bubble wrap then screams 'did you bring that bubble wrap!!!' insinuating I stole it. I say yes I brought it then she glares at me the whole time while I am packing the box. I bring it to the counter ask how much to ship and she gives me one option to ship it.I ask if there is more services that will ship because that one option she gave, ups seemed pretty high then she yells 'this is only option!!!!' I ask what about usps which ends up being cheaper but she says usps doesn't give you tracking number which I know isn't true. She said my package would get lost which made me suspicious. The whole time yelling. I literally had to tell her to calm down and she did. So it cost me 45 bucks to ship a fairly small package a few hundred miles. I could of drove it there for the same price. Never again will I go there until they get new employees with decent customer service skills. read more
