This place is basically unstaffed and locked up during operating hours. Showed up on a saturday at 1pm (hours are 9-3 on saturdays) and nobody was there to help. Nobody answering phones either. Locked lobby and dark front desk. Other customers who dropped in told me they basically keep packages hostage here. Please, either staff this branch or shut it down entirely. read more

Terrible! In the Stone Age! I had my mail on vacation hold. When the hold expired, everything was delivered EXCEPT MY MEDICINE. (They did, however, deliver a package to my mail box for an upstairs neighbor). I went to the W Grand post office. I showed them documentation with tracking number, and their website info saying it had been left at the distribution center. It made no difference. I gave them my address and tracking # 3 times. They had no idea where it was, if it was out for delivery, who the carrier might be etc. etc. etc. Two other customers were there with the same problem. They actually told one customer to track down the postal truck! They gave as an excuse the Memorial Day weekend. But my mail and the mail of the other 2 customers should have been delivered last week. By the way, I don't blame the post office employees. It's obvious that the system (if you can call it that) is totally broken and the employees just have no way of finding out where anything is. read more

I had a male carrier who sent my packages back saying that either the name didn't match the address that there was no APT number on my mail or that the address was wrong when that is not the case the carrier doesn't want to talk up 7 stairs to bring packages to my door the packages will easily fit in the mailbox. read more

Third time my insurance company issued a reimbursement check that was lost in the mail. I see it in informed delivery, but never shows up. My family members get letters returned to them with my exact address. People from down the street come by with my mail and ask if I get their mail (I do). Is this the worst Post Office in America? read more

We are lucky if the mail is delivered every 10 days, mail from informed delivery seems to just vanish. Whoever is the manager at West Grand Annex should be fired, incompetent, lazy workers. The phone number here (510-251-3113) is the same number listed on Google and elsewhere for this West Grand post office. NO ONE ANSWERS THIS NUMBER -- ever. I've called between 11am and 5pm M-F and let it ring. And ring. I've left it ring for at least an hour at times. It's been ringing now for 45 minutes. Like others here, I've not received my mail. I know that because I receive USPS email notifications each day with images of the mail I should be getting. I know I should have received critical year-end tax-related documents, along with a check that was being returned last week. It never arrived. Our mail carrier (who we like) only dropped off mail 3 times last week. I'm not sure where to go from here, but it's clear this service is completely dysfunctional. read more

We hadn't gotten mail delivery the past three day, so I hoped to pick up our mail here. (This post office handles delivery for parts of Oakland that don't have a local post office - maybe one mail route out of five?) They're only open from 11 Am to 5 PM, and there's usually a pile-up of people for the first hour. Only one clerk there, so there's often a long wait, and they almost never answer their phone. It appears USPS in Oakland is hopelessly understaffed. A lot of mail routes don't have a regular mail carrier, so the route gets tacked onto another carrier's route. Then you don't get your mail until very late - like 8:30 PM, or you don't get it at all and it just gets put back in line for delivery the next day! One person waiting for mail hadn't gotten delivery since Thanksgiving - and it's now almost New Years! The problems with station just reflect the disgraceful state of the Postal Service in Oakland. read more

Signed the slip for delivery. No delivery. Ent to pick up my package and when they finally found it (took a long time) the contents were completely destroyed. Insurance covered the item, but it was irreplaceable. Just had another package that was supposed to be delivered to my home. No doorbell or knock. I signed the slip. No delivery. Numbers on the slip are wrong. Looked it up and called only to have the recording continually cut me off so there is no way to talk to anyone. Can't schedule redelivery. Went to the office and they can't find my package. Unacceptable. read more

Trying to Mail a package that needs weighing and thought that I could just walk over to the post office and have it done on my break. Don't waste your time coming over here unless you're picking up a package. That is literally all you can do. read more

The USPS is losing buckets of money, to the tune of $2.0 billion every three months. Mind-staggering. You wouldn't know it when you enter this post office. I had to come here for a package (signature confirmation slip and I wasn't home). Fortunately, there was a parking space in front. Lots of broken glass on the street and cigarette butts adorned the sidewalk. Nice touch here. There is a door bell you need to press to alert the USPS lady that you would like some assistance. Ok... kinda odd. Once you are inside, it's a barren wasteland. It is an empty high-ceiling room with one rusted metal table to the side. It looked like a detention center you see in the movies. The lady got my package fairly quickly, so that was good. As I left the glass door, you could hear the "click-click" of the someone locking the USPS door. Like a scene from the movies... fin. read more

A slightly seedy part of town. This place is for pick up only. And there's no on-site parking, so you have to guess how much meter time you need. It took the 2 attendents around 10 minutes to find my letter (meanwhile they were dealing with an old lady who was endlessly complaining about her misplaced mail). Turns out they were look at the wrong address (the letter and slip were correct). And of course, I'd only put 10 minutes on the meter, so that overran too. To complete this lousy review, the handwriting on the slip was really bad, so I couldn't do any tracking on the letter to figure out where it came from. Horrible, useless, awful. I submitted a complaint about mail delivery and received a voicemail and generic email from Noli Tosoc. I tried calling him back and the number is bad. It just rings and rings, never goes to voicemail. I sent an email reply to noli@usps.gov which was undeliverable. Really? USPS is a total black hole and these people don't care if your packages are lost or stolen or if their workers are incompetent. They're all just biding time until they can collect their completely undeserved pensions. This is what we pay taxes for? Unbelievable! read more

This place is awful. Get your package delivered somewhere else. The likelihood of this location knowing where your package is very low. The phone number on their package slips isn't correct and even when you have the correct number you are not able to talk to a person. You will have a bad time if your package is delivered here. I am shocking even myself by writing a glowing review about the USPS. Like most folks, I've almost never had a positive experience at any post offices. BUT this was not my recent experience, and so this positive review is necessary. I had an incredible experience with this particular post office this week. Due to the classic case of moving too fast, i provided my address to an Etsy vendor incorrectly. Doh! I kept looking up the delivery status and was confused as to why it kept returning to the facility. I eventually realized my mistake and had the vendor call to correct the address, since this is something the sender had to do. Once they had my correct address, they attempted to deliver but the type of shipping required a signature. Since i work in the city, I would unfortunately, never be home to sign for the package during delivery hours. So, I called the post office to determine when I could come and grab it. Much to my surprise, they were extremely pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. They even went out of their way to make sure I could come get my package at a time that was convenient for me, given my circumstances. I would like to give a special shout out to Larina (sp?) for being so friendly and helpful. Very grateful! read more

We received a notice that the post office attempted to deliver a package. Our hours are post and in addition there was a person there. The delivery person did not knock on the door. In spite of calls it has been 3 days and we still don't have our package. The apathy I encountered when I talked with a clerk on 2 occasions was sad. They don't really care. It is not a wonder that they are losing money. read more
