Oakland is becoming quite the hipster destination, but there's still a lot of low-income areas in Oakland, and it's a beautiful bus station with a dome that looks like a planetarium or some kind of a museum or something. It's pretty amazing. As the main National bus station in Alameda County, it serves its purpose well. and I actually really liked it. read more

This review is for the service in general, not for Oakland... because my package never arrived. I had a single piece of furniture, a family heirloom, packed carefully in a box and shipped from Michigan to Oakland. It was much more affordable than UPS or any other method, and I thought, "Hey, it's an established company - they should be trustworthy, right?" And then they lost it. Week after week, customer service kept putting me off, telling me to wait, and wait more. Finally after a MONTH of requests they "had a tracer" put on it, and I was supposed to hear within 48 hours. Nada. A week later I called and they tried telling me to wait again, so I asked for a supervisor. The only way they know where a package is? If it's been checked in or out of a local shipping center. Its last location was marked as Baton Rouge, and then nothing. She tried calling different centers and whined, "Well most aren't answering the phone so I don't know...." Seriously? That's how Greyhound is set up to trace a package? She then said to submit a claim and they would quickly get in touch and it would help it get tracked. I also filled out the claim form on the web site, which did nothing but eventually get me an email with the same old-school PDF that has to be filled out by hand and re-scanned. And yet... the claim process did not involve any tracking. They instead told me it would be 2 MONTHS before my claim was finalized. Overall, I'm shocked at not only a shipping service's inability to actually find anything it's shipping, but also at how disjointed the company is. Thanks for losing an 80-year old family heirloom. DO NOT USE if you care about seeing your stuff again. I wouldn't call that a bargain. read more

I left a review of this service in the Boston Greyhound Package Express service also, so I will keep this one short. 6 totes (rubbermaid not cardboard boxes) shipped from Boston to Oakland arrived in 1 week and all were in excellent condition. I made sure to wrap each one with copious amounts of duct tape to prevent spillage. I got a call from the Greyhound Station after the totes arrived, and when I went to retrieve them, the staff at the station were friendly and helpful (although a bit overworked it seemed...). If you are in need of inexpensive shipping of items that aren't time-sensitive or breakable, this is the way to go! read more

before i heard of fed ex, ups and the like, i used to ship items here to pismo beach, etc. most times. the items got there on time..maybe once or twice, the items got lost ,. the insurance would paid for it. there was always only one guy working here. so service was haphazard. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars-- that is how bad our experience with Greyhound Package Express has been. We thought Greyhound would be a reputable company to ship our things. WE WERE MISTAKEN. We were told it would take about 2 weeks to receive our packages. 2 MONTHS later, we have spent hours upon hours on the phone with multiple customer service agents, trying to track down our packages and schedule a delivery. A few (but not all) of our packages were delivered to the destination Greyhound station, so we requested a delivery. For two weeks in a row, we've been told that a courier will contact us to schedule a delivery for those packages that have arrived. Spoiler Alert: we never receive a call from a courier. The main customer service line is unable to schedule courier deliveries and attempts to connect you to their "online order department," which does not pick up the phone. They ask that you call back 30 minutes later because "maybe they won't be as busy then." When you do call back, you'll wait on hold to be connected to a service agent, and then have multiple service agents hang up on you as soon as they pick up the phone. When you eventually do get through to someone who stays on the line, you'll be shit out of luck again, as they fail to connect you to the appropriate individuals to schedule a delivery. If we ever receive our packages, I'll update this review. Until then...avoid this service like the plague. read more

NEVER EVER EVER use this service. We paid for Priority Express shipping, meaning our package was GUARANTEED to go from the Las Vegas station to the Oakland station in 15 hours. Unfortunately, after 24 hours, our package was still lost, and the only response that we got from all supervisors we spoke to was that the package "could be in Los Angeles somewhere." Because the package contained time-sensitive medications, their solution of waiting weeks for a refund of our claimed amount was insufficient, considering I almost had a seizure in the Greyhound station. Terrible corporate call center outsourcing added to the problem, giving employees the inability to get answers they needed. The whole company is a joke. read more

OK bear in mind, this is five stars **for a discount shipping depot**. This place is NOT the four seasons. But despite everything you've come to expect from Greyhound and this part of Oakland in general, my experience could not have been better. - I received a call as soon as my packages arrived. - I was assisted by multiple, friendly agents who were informed on policy, flexible, and also helped me sort out a discrepancy. - Packages I was not expecting to have arrived yet were delivered to me along with the ones I had gone to collect, even though I only asked for one shipment. The post office wouldn't have bothered. - They helped me bring my packages (6 total, 350 lbs total) to the curb and made sure I got them into the car. Later, when I couldn't find me keys, they scoured lot and lobby looking for them. I later did find them in a different location -- so if the staff happens to read this, thank you so much for looking! Everything worked out. PS : Use your head people, this stuff gets thrown in the bottom of a bus under a bunch of other boxes and suitcases for less than $1 per pound. This is NOT the way to ship delicate, expensive, or time-sensitive materials. That should be ****ing obvious. As for things being lost or damaged in transit, that's not the fault of this office. read more

Worst trip of my life, people taking up seats to sit by themselves, not allowing passengers who are came together sit together, my husband is currently standing up because no one will allow him to sit next to them, i have to sit next to some creepy old Asian guy, that smells, I have an hour and a half bus ride, to my destination, the trip started off with the first bus departing from sacramento California, having to return back to the yard because of mechanical issues, then the bus was late coming into Oakland, there was a young man in a wheel chair and he had to be carried on the bus because the bus was not wheelchair friendly. If you want a complete frustrating experience, hours wasted on the phone on hold or getting the run around pleading to get your package delivered, then this service is for you!!! A nice idea to proved a shipping service from buses that travel cross country, but there is no support or infrastructure to provide a reputable service. When I arrived at the bus station to send my package, it was like they were doing this for the first time, they even forgot to put the delivery address on the order. I had to hand write it on the box. I payed extra for "express delivery" to have my package delivered in 7 - 10 days, to a place of business. Turns out that UPS would have been around the same price, faster with NO hassle. Use them! Don't waste your time with Greyhound. After repeated attempts on the phone (two weeks later), I did finally speak to someone who was nice and helpful. They scheduled a delivery and time between 1pm and 5pm which was great since the business was open from 11 to 7pm. On the day of the scheduled delivery, no package between 1-5 pm. But there was someone outside the business at 7:30pm looking confused. Luckily the store owner was just closing up for the night and was outside to see the man with her package. The package was delivered 22 days (16 business days) later. So much for "express" delivery. It gets 1 star only because you have to select at least 1 star to post a review. They do not even deserve that. Do NOT use this service!!! read more

I had a car bumper shipped from the east coast to the west coast and shipping said it would take 10-14 days. The bumper took almost a whole month to finally reach the designated destination. Upon arrival the bumper was scratched up and looked like it was carelessly taken care of even though it had FRAGILE written in bold letters all oven the packaging. On the plus side it only costed a little less than $100 to ship the bumper coast to coast. All the other shipping companies wanted 500+ to ship the bumper. So if your shipping something that isn't as fragile or important and just want to save money I'd say go with greyhound. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had in my life shipping anything, anywhere. They told me it would take one week for my husband's boxed up bicycle to make to Pittsburgh, PA from Oakland. It took FOUR. Within that time, they ignored every email and call I made trying to find out what was happening. They did absolutely NOTHING to inform me of where the bike was or what was going on.The bike went out December 11 with an arrival date of December 18. But it never landed. When I'd check on line to try and track it, it was always stopped at December 13 when it managed to reach Denver. Christmas and New Year's came and went. Calls and emails to them were total wastes of time - no one responding. I was ready to get an attorney. Then my stepson out of the blue got an email (literally 4 weeks later) that said "Your package is ready for pickup". No explanation, nothing. I was charged $80 to ship a package that arrived 3 weeks late. I am ranking one star not because I think they deserve it but b/c it's the only way you can write a review. They merit way lower as in negative 25 stars. They should not be working with any sort of life form. "Life is short DO NOT go with Greyhound express!" Horrible horrible experience with Greyhound package express in Oakland. Shipped items because I was moving to school in SF. I get to the station to pick up my items and the reps at the station were rude. The older lady at the front (why would they have an older lady at the front! How is she going to lift heavy boxes?!) was on the phone and didn't bother to look well for my items. In her words "I'm not moving anything". I had to go in the back to physically move boxes and find some of my items. After much searching I discovered 2 of my items were missing. Had to wait 2 hours for another rep to come look and check on random buses for my items. He didn't even have the curtesy to tell me he searched and couldn't find my items SMH! Called LA & SF stations to check to see if they had seen my items even thought the oakland reps should have done this! After 6 days they still couldn't find my items & didn't even call to let me know! I think my items were STOLEN!!! WTH! I'm just done! Defeated the whole "cost & time saving"purpose of sending my stuff with greyhound express. Will definitely NOT be using again. read more

This is the worst shipping company ever they lost my luggage and it's been 26 days and still can't give me and straight answer and on top of everything they told me they dunno have control of who take luggage's or claim them when they stop at any stops , meaning that if you see any nice luggage and you just want to take or steal it you can just say to the driver "hey that's mine , yes the black one thank you " and there you are brand new luggage, this company is trash along with they customer service , their stations that never answer the phone . I shipped from norcross GA to Newark and they don't know where is it , they have not control in which bus was shipped , which driver , bus plate number , how many stops made before to final destinations , can't check the cameras because they don't have control so basically if you ship or ride with them it's on your own luck and destiny so I will not even get close to GREYHOUND, stinks , irresponsables , I can't name it all that they deserve ..... read more
