Great value, great location, and comfortable stay! This hotel is located in the city center next to many different restaurants and bars. I've stayed at a couple of hotels in this area but I think this one might be one of the best! Check in - Check-in was super easy and hassle free. I booked through booking.com, so my room was paid for when I got there. My room was ready upon arrival and the front desk was friendly and provided helpful check in/out instructions. They then directed me to the parking lot inside where I was able to leave my car overnight. The hotel has a security guard who watches the lot and hotel grounds, which I appreciate. I also liked that the hotel has an elevator, so you don't have to worry about carrying heavy suitcases upstairs if your room is on the second floor. Rooms - First impression of the room was that it was clean and inviting. The room itself is on the smaller size, but not too crowded. The double rooms come with full size beds that are quite comfortable. The room also had a coffee maker, iron, TV, and a small closet to hang up clothes. What I loved the most was the bathroom! Spacious, modern looking, and best of all... GREAT water pressure and temperature regulation. Those who have traveled to Mexico know that good water pressure and a steady warm water flow is hard to come by, even at hotels. This place did not disappoint, and for me, this is probably one of the greatest selling points! Complimentary breakfast - my reservation also included a complimentary breakfast for one or two people. The person at the front desk gave me a card to redeem at their restaurant, which is located across the hotel. You get a choice of four breakfast options ranging from your typical eggs and potatoes, to pancakes and bacon, and Mexican chilaquiles. I honestly didn't expect much given my experiences with complimentary breakfasts at hotels in the US. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the breakfast was! Since I went with my family, I got to try all four options, and they were all pretty good and the portions were filling. I also appreciated that you have an option to take the breakfast to-go, so if you're in a hurry, you can drop by the restaurant, place your order, and pick up your breakfast on your way out. I stayed in the Posada Del Rey Sol hotel for a week in November 2022. It is not a new hotel, but it is very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is the best. I parked my car and did not use it for the whole week. Everything was close by. The location is quiet and tranquil. The free breakfast across the street at the Posada Del Rey Sol restaurant was very good. The wifi would occasionally stop working, but the staff were helpful in reconnecting it. Overall, it is a good value for what I paid. I will stay at hotel Posada Del Rey Sol again. read more

DO NOT COME HERE, THERE ARE BED BUGS! I stayed from August 2-August 5 in a double bedroom and my whole body is full of bed bug bites. Absolutely disgusting, we paid almost $500 US Dollars and the rooms were infected. The service was mediocre at best. The girls at reception were very indifferent to our situation with the bed bugs. The only good thing about this hotel is the bartender Lidia (the nicest person ever and provided excellent service to us) and the parking attendant who always greeted us and was there to help us out with anything. it's just unacceptable to have bed bugs in a VERY expensive hotel. Still had to pay almost $100 in medication for my cousin and I. Please save your time and money, do not come here. I love their restaurant next door and I thought that my experience at this hotel would live up to their restaurant's service...I was wrong. If i could I would give this hotel a -100 rating. We were pleased with our stay. Great location, steps away from restaurants, shopping, marina and local hot spots. The parking was convenient and we rarely used it because everything was in walking distance. Friendly staff and we enjoyed el Rey sol restaurant for Breakfast which was included as long as you choose from a few options offered, which were delicious. I would like to go back for dinner. The room was clean. They are making some improvements and it's looking like it will be even more appealing. I would definitely return for another stay. read more

My new favorite town place to stay. Just left this AM, my 3rd time there. So well run & friendly staff. Instant HOT water in shower & water pressure, always an issue in Baja, almost pushes you out. Fabulous place to safely park your car & walk the town while still stumbling distance home. Clean, great A/C & Heat. And a free breakfast at the legendary El Rey Sol across the street. I know Ensenada fairly well and Posada El Rey Sol runs circles around their competition. read more

Such a great place. Perfect location. Plenty of restaurants and shops surround it. 2 blocks from the malecon. Friendly staff. Clean and nicely decorated rooms. Stayed in 303 and it was relatively quiet even with the elevator and stairs right there. No bed bugs. Dog friendly. 24/7 security guards posted. The day shift guard Pedro was very friendly and recommended his favorite local eateries. Upon check in they'll give you happy hour vouchers and meal coupons for their restaurant. They have a pool but I never walked back to see it. Upon check out IF you spend over $100 (and you ask for it) they'll issue you a border fast lane pass. read more

The wife and I stayed here for two nights while on a weekend trip to Ensenada. Our room was small but very clean and modern with a very firm queen sized bed, a good sized LCD TV, bottled water and a coffee maker. Free wi-fi is also available and we received a good signal in the room. It was really quiet at night. There is a small swimming pool but we were there in December when the weather was a bit chilly so we didn't use it. The hotel also has a bar although there are better options for drinking nearby. A free breakfast also comes with the room that is served at a very nice restaurant across the street. I would definitely stay here again read more

Came here a few weeks ago for a wine tour my friends and I have been wanting to do. We wanted to stay in downtown Ensenada, so we can walk to the restaurants after we got our wine on and not have to worry about driving. This is also an "Americas Best Value Inn" hotel room, so look for that when you book the room. My review: PRO's *Cost: Great price! We got it though a broker website, and after searching 3 websites we got a very good rate. *Downtown: Location was great for being in downtown Ensenada. You could very safely walk to and from downtown. I just wouldn't walk to far down east of the hotel at night. *Room Decor: We actually got a nice room had a modern touch. This could be the luck of the draw though, as our other two friends had older style rooms. We could tell since our other friends rooms did not look like ours. *FREE H2O and WiFi: Two free bottles of water, but the WiFi was kind of weak. You may have trouble streaming Netflix of anything that requires a high bandwidth. CON's * No Iron: Had to request an iron from the front desk. We walked down to pick it up. *Small Shower: Very small (but nice) shower in the room. I could barely move in that shower. *SLOWWWWWW WiFi: It was a bit slow, can you tell? Overall, a nice clean room at a very reasonable price. You could pay more for a nicer room by the water, but you could get 2-3 nights here for one night at a really nice hotel. read more

I'll preface by saying this was my first stay in Ensenada in maybe 20 years and overall the town has improved in many ways. But this hotel left much to be desired. Pros: close to downtown nightlife, provided fast pass for border crossing, allowed a pet for $15 per night, included two basic breakfast vouchers Cons: expensive compared to other hotels in the area, charged for bottled water, no hot water in the shower, loud room and street noise, hot tub was green and foamy, very spotty wifi, poor cable tv service, woke up early Friday morning to find a drunk man passed out next to our 3rd floor door with a box of empty beer cans. What was that about 24 hour security? Maybe he was the security. read more

We get down to Ensenada 2-3 times a year and always stay at Posada. The rooms a large & clean and the staff is really great. I also want to thank the security guy (sorry I can't remember his name?) for helping us out with local recommendations for restaurants and shops. He knows everyone in town and will even come to your room to wake you up Sunday when the Tamale lady is across the street. Do not miss this, they're the best Tamales I've ever eaten and they're great with a hangover! The beds are comfy and the linens and pillow were all very clean. Fresh towels when you need them. You also get breakfast vouchers for the restaurant which is probably the best breakfast in Ensenada. I get the Chilaquiles but my wife like a classic egg breakfast and pancakes or waffles for the kids and wonderful coffee. It really is a no brainer. The bar is also a fun time and a great place to either prep for heading out for the evening or when you get home after a long day in the Valle drinking wine. The swimming pool is clean a refreshing after the dusty roads of Baja Sur. They also give you a Sentri pass for the border crossing is you ask for it when booking your room, or at least that was the case the last time we stayed with them. read more

Ok...firstly, four stars is relative...this is Ensenada, after all. When I stay at a in-town hotel, there are several things that are important. A quiet, off street room (booming music into the night just doesn't cut it); a comfy bed; decent towels and good water pressure; a working TV with a few English-speaking channels. This place has all of these! Plus, the staff is very friendly and helpful...and they have a couple of great promotions...Almost Free, which gives you a bottle of wine and a fast pass and Sunday Stayover, which makes your Sunday evening a half-price event! Because we flew down, we took advantage of the latter, but if you're driving, you need that Fast Pass. I recommend this place for staying in-town. Walking close to all the fun bars and restaurants. Great place to stay a little pricey for one night but other then that the room was nice and updated, they provided 2 free margaritas and free breakfast at the restaurant across the way. They have security at night so I felt safe leaving my car, it's also not a far walk from the the local bars I would definitely recommend staying here on your trip. read more

This was our first time staying over night in Ensenada besides coming on our cruises for the day. It was difficult finding a reservation because everything was sold out. We opted for Posada El Rey Sol after I called to see if they had a room available & I got the last one. The pictures online were great and the reviews were good besides the bed bugs review which scared me a little. We thought it could happen at any hotel and we definitely check our beds as soon as we walked into the room. We got there and the women at the front desk was very friendly and check us in early. The parking was right below the rooms and the hotel was located was right where all the action is at. We could see the cruise ships right from outside our hotel. Our room was clean, spacious and there were chocolates on our pillows. They offered car washes during our stay for a fee, 1 hr free Margaritas at their bar right next to the pool, they have a lounge area above the pool, and security guards taking care of the cars & free breakfast daily across the street at their restaurant. The only thing we wished we had known was that they had an ice machine to keep our drinks cold because there was no signs for the ice machine besides that we felt safe at the hotel and walking around late at night & we knew our car would be safe as well. There was some construction during our stay but we were still able to sleep in before they started & take naps during the day. It looks like they are going thru renovations. It a cute little hotel with tons of potential. The best part on our last night my husband went downstairs to the front desk and asked the gentleman to help us order some good pizza. After a day of sightseeing in the hot sun we got into our pajamas and turned on a movie & shortly after our very hot pizza arrived. This place is okay. I was disappointed with the bed. It felt like I was lying on a rock. Then I order towels and they don't bring them. So I call them asking for towels again, and they tell me that they're washing the towels. Then finally I call again and they finally bring the towels. Then the door handle fell off. It wasn't the best, but it comes with a fastlane pass to cross the border quicker. read more

We stayed here two nights. Place was clean an safe with 24 hour security guard. Its priced right for the budget and its pet friendly. We brought both our dogs and they loved it here. Bar, pool, and spa onsite which was awesome. All staff is super friendly. Free breakfast but only two options.... The food was BOMB though. Nice little place to stay. If you have lived in a 3rd world country, you will appreciate it but if you are high maintenance and have a 5-star expectation, you will be disappointed. Kid-friendly place, pool was open but weather was too cold to use it in December. Jacuzzi was closed. Very close to downtown and walking distance to all the local shops/restaurants. Gave us 2 free breakfast coupons per room to their restaurant across the street. The restaurant is a fancy place with live music, outdoor patio, and formal dressed up waiting service. Gave us fast pass as we spend more than $100 for our stay. Room cleaned overnight. Paid - $180 for 2 nights/room with 2 double beds. Wifi didnt work for us, guess we were far from the router. Friendly and good looking staff. Late night parking can be a problem in the main building but they do have an adjacent lot that security can help with. They had construction work going on when we got there but as soon as it got dark, no noise. No street noise for weeknights, not sure about weekends. We felt safe and did not notice anything sketchy in the neighborhood. Overall we have a good experience. read more

My stay at the hotel was good, and I was very impressed by the service provided by the hotel. When I checked out, I left several shirts and a jacket at the hotel before driving back to the United States. I contacted the hotel, and they mailed the shirts back to me a few days later! We reserved a room online and paid for it, upon arrival they told us they had no hot water and they would "try" to refund us our money. We decided to suck it up since most likely we wouldn't get our money back anyways. They had no ice and most places offer you a free fast pass, they said we had to spend at least 100$ to get it. The least they could have done was give us that since they screwed us on hot water. There are nicer places for cheaper in Ensenada, do not stay here. No bueno read more

Stayed here on 2 Jul 2015 for 1 night only , it is a nice hotel in an excellent location to be able to walk the main street for shopping and the Mercado Negro (fish market) to get fresh seafood. I recommend staying here as I would stay here on my next visit to Ensenada. FYI across the street from the hotel is a restaurant El Rey Sol owned by the same owner of the Hotel.
