Unfortunately, the end result is pretty rough due to a choice in materials that ultimately comes down to saving himself about 50 bucks by choosing very low-grade plywood instead of a higher-grade smooth version. (They didn't use finish nails either) Lesson learned to supply my own materials, but it seems he could have communicated the options to me, especially after I supplied some of the other materials that were supposed to be included in the quote. The job was done quickly and I can fix it but I wouldn't hire this contractor to do any finish work.

He blamed the prior job for making him late as they "added items" to which he was not there to do. Not! My! Fault! and not a reason to rush through my job and blame me for his mistakes. I do not recommend using him. I had already told all the other firms I was going with someone else, and now I can't get a new apt for another 2 weeks. My gutters are clogged and my basement will probably flood due to his cancelation tomorrow :(
