Very poor service and repair. I bought a new screw compressor from these guys which went fine but their service department is not great. The first time they came to service the machine they left the job unfinished. My business is 3 hours from their shop so I pay over 1k in "labor" just to get them here before they perform any work. Instead of having them come a 2nd day I just finished the 1 hour of work myself. The 2nd time I had them come and perform a complete 8000 hour service which is 2k. 3.5 months later (2 weeks out of warranty) The belts came off the unit. They were not willing to come back out and fix the issue they only offered a set of complimentary belts. I already had a set so I went to install them only to find out the technician had stripped a few fasteners as well as left several out! Needless to say I will not be using them again. read more

They didn't have exactly what I needed though, they were able to put together something that got my almost 50 y.o. Craftsman working again. Best of all they didn't mention even buying a new one, and believe me they have some beautiful compressors there that run from pancake to giant. They have a lot of accessories. Worst company to deal with. We've purchased 3 industrial compressors from them in the past and they all had problems from the start. Portland Compressor has the most incompetent service department I had ever done business with. They could not even fix a simple temp sensor but instead created more complications cause they screwed up the repair. I guess they don't know how to use a voltage meter but they call themselves service experts. Being down for over 2 months on a $10k brand new compressor is unacceptable. For a simple fix that should have been resolved within a week or two, they screwed up and complicated the problem which lasted over two months. Even, the last $7k compressor took over a year for them to fix. I will never use this company to purchase or service anything anymore. Don't put your business in jeopardy buy dealing with this unprofessional amateur company. read more

Had a very disappointing experience. After purchasing a surface cleaner for my pressure washer, I realized I wanted to invest in some other attachments that would be more beneficial for what I needed. I chose to return the surface cleaner 3 days after I had bought it.(I had bought this piece off of display and it only was used for maybe 20 seconds.) Upon my return I dealt with the same employee/used car salesman, Danny Sauter. After being so inclined to sell me anything that he could, when I came back in to return the attachment he was very rude and tried to tell me I wouldn't be able to get my money back. Luckily I had the chance to speak with a manager who ended up giving me 85% of my money back. I tried to explain to the tool Danny that I wanted to look into getting a new pressure washer before I spend $359 on a surface cleaner. He did not care about my opinion and clearly only wanted to make his commission off of my business. I wasn't a customer to him I was a $ sign. (An example of this is him telling me that if I purchased a turbo nozzle and decided to buy a new pressure washer I would have to buy another nozzle because it wouldn't fit the same. This is not true at all, if you own a pressure washer you will know that the both will fit the same. Worst case you would have to buy a $6 attachment.) Overall I hope that no one has to deal with this type of service. I had no issues with the manager, he was understanding of my choice. But unfortunately my experience at Portland Compressor negative and In the future I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Stopped in to see if they had a difficult to find hose for an older compressor. It is a Husky compressor, it still works. The counter guys complained it was a POS chinese made compressor. Which it is chinese made, but many of the compressors they have sitting in the showroom have chinese manufactured parts on them. Anyways, they claimed the hose had metric fittings on it after taking it in back. I stopped by home depot on the way home, it actually has SAE fittings, contrary to their claim. I am shopping for a new compressor. They wont get my money because of their horrible customer service and attitudes. I am also in the market for some other stuff they sell, but again, they wont receive my money for those either. I will shop and support local businesses any day over online sales when the counter guys actually seem to want to help. This is not that place, by a long stretch of the imagination. read more

Lets start off by saying, If you are BUYING a airless paint sprayer or air compressor this is a good place for that! BUT, if you need parts or repair...well they will overcharge you. They wanted 65% more for parts to repair a CAT pump them any authorized dealer I found on line! Really? Then if you want them to service and/or repair one, HAHA they want 80.00 per hour...come on! I would have spent $741.00 to REPAIR this pump and I can BUY an new one for $587.00. I ordered the parts for 221.00 and did it my self in 1 hour! read more

This place deserves a 0 star for customer service, and has no concept of customer courtesy. They shipped my order through UPS with no signature required, and UPS lost the merchandise. UPS tracker says they dropped off my order at my "Front Door", but I never saw the UPS truck, much less the product. I live up in the hills, where there's no stranger hanging out in my neighborhood unless they have business being up here. I have a 60-foot S-shaped driveway, where no one comes down it unless they have business to do at my house. On the day of delivery, I saw no UPS truck. In any case, I called and talked to Josh. He did a lot of handwaving and essentially says I'd have to pay for a second unit before he would ship it to be as a replacement. I told him that since UPS lost my first order, I asked that the new shipment requires a signature upon receipt. He says OK, and didn't say anything about charging me a fee for that. I received the replacement unit, and the invoice shows that he charged me a $5 fee for signature. I said what the hell, called him, and he says there's nothing he can do about that. Considering the bad experience that I had with the first shipment, the least Josh could/should have done is to not charge me for the signature fee - especially when he did not tell me about a fee when I ordered the replacement unit. read more

These folks are fantastic. Our rotary screw compressor went down and we made the mistake of not having a backup. They gave us a rental at no charge while we looked into our options for a new compressor. Within a week we had a new compressor up and running. They got us a rebate from Energy Trust on the new unit and now we're saving about $400 a month on our electric cost. The service tech they sent out for startup trained us on the new compressor and everything has worked great. Portland Compressor turned the unfortunate event of our old compressor going down into a great upgrade to our facility. read more

Bought texture sprayer for $1000.00 on eBay. It has never worked. After having it looked at locally (I live in Illinois ) and not able to get it fixed, called the company to see if we can make an exchange and was told there is nothing they can do as the price to return and ship would be high. Do not recommend buying over Internet if you are not local as they won't take exchange. read more

Over the phone I ordered a graco ultra airless handheld sprayer specifically to spray shilac based primer and water based laquer. The salesman told me that this gun would work great. I was very specific about this. The gun clogged on me and when I called graco customer service they told me that I absolutely cannot shoot this through this gun. Called Portland compressor talked to the same salesman who claims he doesn't remember me asking about those materials. No refund offered on the gun but he can give me cost price on the materials to fix the gun at $150! On top of the gun which already cost me 500 plus tips 70. So now I can pay an additional 150 not including labor to have the gun repaired on the salesmans advice! Never again will I use this company. I was also told that the manager would call me back which never happened . Terrible service. This is why I go with amazon, it's just a shame businesses operate this way then go out of business and they wonder why. read more
