Food is good.... I'm from Chicago where portillo's is originally from, The only complain I have it seem like the portions are getting smaller... As you can see from my french fries and my beef croissant.... I guess they don't believe in stuffing them no more read more

This place was quite the surprise! It's massive!!! A Chicago themed menu with many of the traditional Chicago style plates. Great for large groups, after game group meals, and birthdays. The restaurant was so well run and everyone was so kind and attentive. I was surprised how many options they offer from sodas, teas and beer. They had the most insane strawberry lemon cake shake, we all were so taken back by the flavor and the actual cake in the shake, so yum! Now for the food....the salads were hearty and the dressings were so tasty!!! The chicken was so tender and made the salad this with the toppings combined worked so well for a quick salad on the go, it comes with a drink and a delicious piece of bread if you do the combo. The burger was quite large and really tasty. The cheese for the fries is a must, one of our favorite parts of the meal. We ordered several peppers just to try them, super good but more sweet that spicy. Definitely will be back! read more

Came because I knew they sold slices of cake & I got the chocolate cake. My two stars is because the cake had mold on it. I ordered a Chicago dog meal with fries & drink also. The food was nice & fresh & hot. The dessert just messed my whole mood up. I ate my food parked. Then drove way back to Maricopa Arizona. Once I got home & l opened my cake it was a small fuzzy bit of mold. I was so disappointed. Guess I have to Start inspections on all my food purchases before I leave location. Just not sure how they gave me a molded piece of cake. Are yall buying large cakes & cutting them & packaging them? Or are they made at location? I took pictures of the mold & I need answers. I did call to tell someone about the mold. All I got was "Thanks for letting me know." No I am sorry about that or nothing. read more

I have been a Portillo's customer for I don't know how long. I just noticed for the last year or so, the food quality has gone down hill, and the prices increased drastically. The worst part is for my dessert, I love, or use to love, the Strawberry Shortcake. Now they skimp on the Strawberries so much, it's mostly whipped cream and dry cake. They use to serve the best I have ever tasted. I am done with it now, been too many times in a row that is was very bad. Too much money and not enough quality. read more

We visited with our family when we were in AZ for my son's volleyball tournament. Our extended family are huge fans of Portillo's, and they usually get the Italian Beef or one of the salads. My grandson ate a little of everything! I ordered a breaded chicken sandwich that was very good. My son didn't care for his cheeseburger (he's a picky one). The hubs had Italian Beef and he said it was just ok (he's as picky as our son). Tasty fries and onion rings. Good shakes. The line was very long, but it was their grand opening. And honestly, they got our food out pretty quickly. I'd absolutely go back and try more of their menu items, including the Chicago Dog which looked delicious. read more

The ladies bathroom is unsanitary very dirty and smells horrific definitely needs bleach this is a newer location should be clean

I love Portillos but this location needs to be run better. Just received my Uber eats delivery and half of the order is missing. Even though I received half of my money back, I'm still Missing my drink and sauce on the side. Management needs to watch their employees and check their work. read more

I grew up with portillos so happy to have one close to me again. The standout dish for me was definitely the Italian beef sandwich - the meat was juicy and flavorful, and I appreciated the generous portion size. However, when I received my sandwich, I noticed that the bread was cut very poorly, which meant that the meat wasn't enclosed by the bread. It wasn't a huge deal, but it did make the sandwich a bit messier to eat than I would have liked. read more

Where's the beef??? Omg very shocked at how much Portillo's has shrunk its regular Italian beef sandwich. Been going to Portillo's in Chicago for decades but this is the first visit to this Arizona location. Same delicious sandwich, just much, much less of it read more

portillos is a great place with great food, however this particular location has an employee and/or floor manager that goes by the name of "Ryan" who does not care about his job or the customers that enter this establishment. The people who walk in should not have to feel like they are bothering him or that they are wasting his valuable precious time EVER! I recommend acquiring workers who are respectful to all who pay here. read more

We're from Chicago so we know Portillo's and it never disappoints! Italian beef dipped with both peppers is my go-to and of course a slice of the best chocolate ever! Also, Kingston was awesome! He offered to re-fill our drinks and threw out anything we didn't need on the table. Very friendly! read more

Ordered their famous hot dog and it was just a greasy rubbery mess. It came out luke warm and luke warm greasy with burnt bits was just a terrible combination. Felt Like I was eating the crud that accumulates at the bottom of a fryer. edit: Hah just found out it was supposed to have mustard on it and it didn't. Just disappointing at best. One point extra for ambience. read more

Ever since I saw their commercials when I was watching the Super Bowl, I've wanted to come here. Portillo's does not disappoint. So, you go to Portillos to experience Chicago-style dogs, beef, burgers, and salads. Some of the classics are so tasty that you won't believe your taste buds. Also, dont forget to pair everything with either of their crinklecut fries (ask for crispy style) or their battered and perfect onion rings. The service is quick, and the ambiance is lively and well ventilated with music playing in the background. read more

This was my second time and my husband's first time. We both had the Chicago beef sandwich and shared a piece of their famous cake. Everything was delicious. Food from the drive thru was horrible!!! I could not even finish it and threw it out.

Nothing like getting a hair in your burger. Wife picked up this evening, 02/12/25. Not sure what part of the body that hair comes from. Pretty gross to encounter one way or another. read more

I have been a fan of Portillo's for years. Stop there every time I'm in Chicago. I'm always skeptical when I see a business out of their natural habitat, Chicago. The standout offerings here are the burgers and strawberry shortcake. Realistically, who prefers a soggy sandwich? That's utterly unappetizing. The service consistently impresses. The tables are generally clean, but it does tend to get loud here. read more

Came here with a friend who said I had to try this place because it's so good. She got the Italian beef and sausage sandwich but in a bowl... it looked ok lol. I got the chopped chicken salad and was bummed it was breaded chicken instead of grilled but I was starving so I ate it anyways. I didn't use any dressing since the ranch was foul. I'm really picky when it comes to ranch and this ranch was not the business but luckily the salad was still good without dressing. Let's talk dirty for a minute.... their chocolate cake is to DIE for! The cake gets a full five stars! I'll for sure try this place again in the future. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the dining area. The building size is deceiving. When you walk in you realize that it's much larger than expected. The restaurant was clean and comfortable when we visited. The order was made as requested and the service was friendly! Two thumbs up! read more

This is a fast food joint with an open floor plan and plenty of booths and tables to sit at. You give your order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. It's loud with customer noise and chatter. Don't that scare you away the Big Italian beef is very good, you can get it with spice or sweet peppers. I like it spicy and it was just right for my taste. The onion rings are hot and crispy, the chili cheese dogs are very good, the Chicago dog is hard to mess up so that's a good go to. read more

If I want a chili cheese dog and onion rings I'm going to Portillos! 1st don't get the regular dog. You have to get the jumbo dog to get the meat to bread ratio right :) I like my onion rings well done. My family LOVELOVES their chocolate cake w/chocolate frosting. My Hubbs loves their burgers and our kiddo get the chicken tenders. Something for everyone. Their salads are good to as well as their pasta. It always pretty clean inside and a good amount of seating. read more

This was the second time eating here. We did a pick up order and it was ready on time and everything was accounted for (but not prepared correctly). Which was great for a family of six. That's where the positive experience stops!! 2 of my kids double cheeseburgers were BURNT to a crisp!!! That's 4 patties that were totally overcooked!!! NO one noticed this?? My husband's chicken salad was gross. It had a weird taste that was combined with spicy. 2 of my kids ordered spicy chicken sandwiches & they thought it was just ok. My Italian beef sandwich was cold, had a soggy bun & also didn't taste very good. The beef was bland, no peppers & very little cheese (both of which I had to pay extra for)!!! I took 2 bites & couldn't stomach anymore!! I ended up eating some cold mushy fries for dinner which are overpriced by the way......food here is NOT WORTH the price or your appetite being spoiled!! Go across the street to In & Out Burger or Chick-fil-A if you want good fries, chicken sandwich's & burgers!! read more

We have visited Portillos in Tempe but this was our first visit to the Gilbert location. We were able to walk right up to the counter, no long lines, and order. The cashier was polite and confident. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich combo with fries and a drink. The crispy fish sandwich, the Maxwell street polish sausage, and onion rings. Everything was super delicious! The chicken sandwich was okay my son said but my daughter loved the fish sandwich, I tried a bite and it was very tasty. My polish sausage was topped with a generous amount of caramelized onions, yellow mustard and served in a poppy seed bun. This may be one of the most delicious things I have tasted in a very long time! The portion is large, the cook on the sausage is perfect, the onions are perfect and the bun is soft. The onion rings were delicious as well. Super crunchy and tasty. The only negative comment I have it that it was HOT in there. Like it felt like there was no AC on. My daughters cheeks were red she was so hot. It was over 110 out so they need to crank that AC down so guests and employees are comfortable. Otherwise everything was pretty great and we will be returning soon. read more

While watching UTube videos I came across The Portillo restaurant one featuring the chocolate cake shake. I knew I had to try it. So I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich meal. Just left without eating or ORDERING ON THE skip the line kiosk 4 th attempt to order. You can't delete an item once rung in even w/o paying. My burger mistake was: one customized with jus KMO was $9.68. Same with grilled onions $6.98? No one to help with kiosk. I left after 4th attempt. Meanwhile the line I skipped was moving quickly. Ordered through the drive through two wet Italian sandwiches with peppers, fries, and drinks. When we got home the sandwiches were very dry beef and sausage (not what we ordered), no peppers, cold fries, still frozen in the middle and flat Dr. Pepper. Yeet! I keep giving this place a chance but they just keep under performing. Ohio! read more

It's okay, loud, wobbly table, crunchy but tasteless onion rings, Chicago dog was good. But it wasn't as good as the Costco cafe, so there's that. The dipped sandwich was flavorless. The water tasted like they didn't sufficiently rinse something after cleaning, and you have to ask them for more water in a tiny cup. For soda we didn't try for a refill but if they do the machine is behind the counter and you'll have to wave someone over for more. It's a one visit and done for us. read more

I was craving a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and Portillo's hit the spot!! The onion rings were cruuuuuuuunchy and the burger wasn't greasy like other places, it was clean and tasted fresh. This location just opened up and I'm sure like their other spots around the valley I am sure it will be poppin! read more

Typical Portillos! Great food, great service & great atmosphere! You would definitely think you're in Chicago while hanging out at Portillos in AZ. I was stoked they opened one a little closer to us. We love hitting the drive thru and grabbing Combo sandwiches and cheese fries. The kids they have working their window are hilarious. The kid inside the window and the hand off kid standing outside were having a conversation about "scoring chicks" right in front of me like I wasn't even there lol.
