Foods great....we drive an out just to get our favorite Jumbo Chicago Dogs. Wr come here becaause iys pet friendly. But for over a month maybe longer we have been told the outdoor fans dont work. I used to visit Portillos in Chicago all the time. I wouldn't say it was exactly the same but excited to have them in Texas. I got a sausage, onion rings and a chocolate shake. My only complaint was that the shake had very little chocolate in it. The customer service was great however. Expect a little wait as your order is cooked fresh. read more

This is the second Friday in a row I tried to eat here. The first time I refrained from a review thinking everyone deserves a second chance. Well it went worse not better second time around. SO MUCH SALT we couldnt eat the fries. My cheese on my burger was covered in salt! I took a picture because it was insane the amount of salt. Both times the center of my burgers were cold and not fully cooked. It felt and tasted like it was frozen, thawed and not fully cooked. It was awful. read more

This is my second visit this week. I was invited on Monday to try it out with some friends and today my parents and brother were wanting to try it out. I love the decor and the ambience is so warm, nostalgic, and homey. There's a little display with different good quality souvenirs you can purchase. The first visit I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries with cheese dip. Oh my goodness, the fries are crinkle cut and fresh, hot, and crispy (not too salty but salty enough). The cheese sauce pairs perfectly with the fries. The spicy chicken sandwich was full of good flavor and not too spicy and freshly made. As for my visit today I ordered the rodeo burger. The patties is charbroiled with onion rings, bacon, cheese, and bbq sauce. It's a hearty burger with lots of flavor. I was impressed. Stopped at the Denton, TX Portillo's for a late-night snack. Pulled into the drive-thru at 11:01 PM, only to be told they stop selling Maxwell Street Polish sausages at 11:00 PM. One minute. No flexibility, no "let me check if we can still do it," just a hard no. We left disappointed. If you're going to have a cutoff that strict, it'd be good to post that clearly on the drive-thru menu or online. Otherwise, it just feels like bad timing with a side of frustration. Never heard of this place before, but during a recent stay, we drove past this one on the way to our VRBO. Curious, I looked it up and saw it was a Chicago style hotdogs and sandwich restaurant. We are equidistant to this location and their the colony location. Both are excellent. The service is pretty fast and has always been friendly. Some huge pros: great sandwiches and good hamburgers. Some considerations: their salads are an interesting take on their respective namesake. If you want a salad consider ordering at the counter where you can ask about everything that's in it. At 6:00pm on a Wednesday. Hardly anyone there. We thought we would just order at the counter instead of the kiosk since it's our first time there. Smh not friendly. Girl at the counter was either in something or had a problem. None of us could understand her and she wouldn't repeat herself. Was talking too quiet and fast and looking down. Rude. Food was nothing to get excited about. Charbroiled burger means burnt to a crisp. Top of hamburger bun was hard as a rock. Hotdog buns watered down and soggy slop. Grilled onions looked good. Italian sub was ok. Strawberry shortcake was ok. Lemon shake was good. Overall we were not impressed and now we know why they only had 3 tables of people at a time when they should be busy. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich from the drive thru and while eating it smelled burnt. I took it apart and noticed the bun was completely burnt black. It's pretty obvious the employers here do not care about quality. I won't be coming back to this place. read more

Nice looking place with cool retro decor for a fast food place and good sized eating space that was relatively clean for fast food. Not sure why staff wears gloves that then they are wiping their hair and on their cell phones though..... I would say the food itself is average at best. read more

Not impressed. First time I have been here. I ordered an Italian beef sandwich with a small onion ring and unsweetened tea for $17. The onion rings were very good and the highlight of the meal. Had a wonderful drive through experience! The gentleman who helped us was out there even though it had rained pretty hard and was still drizzly and cold. The staff were all kind. Even when I called ahead of time someone actually picked up which is rare at fast food joints. I am happy that this business has touched down here in Denton. They are open late so it'll be great for students and working adults who want a late bite to eat. They're open till 11:30 on weekdays and midnight on weekends! This is not this locations fault as they don't set the prices but I just wish they were more affordable. But it is freshly made! read more

The crew there is all smiles and welcomes, making you feel like you've just walked into a party where you're the guest of honor. The service was speedy; we barely had time to check out the decor before our food was ready and calling our names. I went with the Italian Beef & Sausage Sandwich paired with Cheese Fries, it definitely hit the spot. It was like being teleported back to my first taste of Portillo's in Chicago! I don't mind paying for a good sandwich combo, but this was mediocre at best. I had heard Portillo's serves a good steak sandwich, so I ordered the combo thru the drive thru. Service was quick, and I found a place in their parking lot to eat. Immediately surprised that the steak sandwich was lukewarm, and the bread was completely soggy. I might add that I was surprised there was only shredded steak and a piece of sweet pepper, which I did request. No other ingredients. Very mediocre for a $16 combo. read more

I recently checked out Portillo's and I have been excited to try them out. I could not figure out what to order so I literally ordered almost everything on the menu. I ordered a chili dog burger and onion rings. The Chilidog was good but could have been better I felt like it wasn't enough chili on it. The burger was good, but it was slightly burnt and the onion rings was amazing. I had to get that with a side of cheese. I will definitely be back to try the other things on the menu. read more

I finally got to a Portillo's in Texas and I forgot my phone at home. No photos, but there are a lot from other reviews... I was told by friends who know and love Portillo's from the Chicago area to get the Italian Beef. That is what I got, a regular Italian Beef Sandwich. I asked for juicy and the employee who took our order asked if I wanted "gravy on the side". I said, yes. I would call it juice not gravy, but it was good. I am glad he suggested on the side, because the bottom of the bun was already soggy, before I added it. That's my only complaint, the soggy bottom of the bread. The meat was melt in your mouth delicious. I am a little disappointed I didn't try the fries, but I will next time. I also will get peppers next time. My husband got a bowl (no bread) with sausage, beef and peppers. I liked that there were canned drink and other drink options, besides fountain drinks. The shakes looked delicious. The restaurant was very clean with fun decorations. The employees were all friendly. read more

We had an amazing lunch celebrating my husband's birthday with family. When we walked in, Jeremy noticed the gift we brought and really went above and beyond. He was so helpful when ordering and made sure we had all the options. He brought us plates and a serving knife for the chocolate cake and even helped us combine our tables. Food was pretty good. If you've never had a Chicago style beef sandwich, it's worth going. Not as good as having one "in" Chicago, but still worthwhile. The restaurant is very clean and roomy. They have a wide open dining space with lots of booths and tables for larger groups. Service was a little slow, but maybe that just the time it takes them to get it ready. We were a little surprised that they attempted to up-charge on the meal. We ordered the regular size dipped beef sandwich and small fries, which was plenty. But they asked 6 or 7 questions about adding or increasing size on items. That was really my only complaint. For fast food, it's pretty good. We'd go back sometime. read more

This place surprised me. It is huge inside, with plenty of registers to order and a much bigger menu than I expected. To my knowledge, there was not a good Chicago style fast food restaurant in the area so this really fills a gap. My wife and I each had Italian Beef sandwiches. They come regular, extra gravy and dipped in the gravy. I had mine Extra and my wife did dipped. They each met our expectations. Lots of choices for toppers as well to add flavor. We also had fries. Quite simply, these were great sandwiches. As with most places, it was too big for us in one setting, so they made mice lunches the next day. We will be returning soon because there are so many other things on the menu to try - lots of hotdogs, sausage sandwiches, pastas and burgers. The day we went it was very busy, but our food still came quickly and they keep you updated on your order with a video screen showing progress of every order.
