Great restaurant especially on a nice summer day. Service can be a little off even when it's not busy but not in an offensive way, just somewhat amateurish. Went here on a Friday evening. We were excited to try the place out because the food at the Poquitos on Seattle is good. The Bothell location has a great ambience but the food was meh. My husband had the Chicken Tinga Tacos. It was dry and bland. My Chicken Enchiladas looked good but was also dry and not particularly good. Reminded me of the Matador in Redmond, one of my favorite places for food like this and I go there all the time. The food: worst meal of my life, not exaggerating. If we are going to pay $80 I think the food should be edible, but I'm not at all upset about the money. I couldn't take more than one bit without feeling sick. There wasn't anything great about it. The cheese sauce tasted sour, the seafood was undercooked and fishy smelling and the tortilla was just...can a tortilla be soggy and stale? My personal favorite are the asada tacos, and if you're here for breakfast - the chilaquiles are awesome! Today we went in for happy hour! we had the beans and queso dip (so freaking good), the asada tacos, the pastor tacos and a frosé, everything was amazing! Went last night and ate on the very large wraparound patio. Sun was behind the building so this made for excellent al fresco dining. Tables were spaced well apart giving us privacy and allowing ample room for my dog to lie down. Yes the patio is DOG-FRIENDLY! These folks are well set-up for covid. You aim your phone at the QR code on the table card and bring up the menu, saving time for the hostess. And when we got our receipt we were also given a QR code to pay on our phones, saving the server time. Even though the servers need to pop back and forth between the inside restaurant and the patio, they were attentive, friendly and we never felt neglected. Somehow we had dinner for three plus 2 drinks (one alcohol) and managed to pay only $81 total (this is with a 25% tip). So not only was the food delicious and filling, it was also affordable. Popped in for a late lunch. They do a brunch on Saturday/Sunday's and we were just in between brunch and happy hour. We ordered the Tres Amigos app to start. A great combo of a huge bowl of hot, fresh, crispy tortilla chips with a bowl each of their bean dip, salsa and queso. I personally found the queso a bit salty, especially with salted chips but the texture and the pickled jalapeño finish was so addicting! I could not decide which of the three dips were the best. Yes! Hubby ordered the Poquito Margarita and he thought it was one of the best he's had in a long time. I had a sip and found it really nicely citrusy and fresh. Finally we ordered the dry rub wings. Super light and crispy. I would have wanted more heat but since I have a speaking engagement this evening, I have to avoid spice until later. We eat out 1x/ week. This was our first time for a family of 4 at Poquitos. Due to Covid we chose takeout. The decor and atmosphere inside looks inviting, but we've got immuno-compromised loved ones so weren't willing to take a chance. We ordered: Baja Tacos - loved that the fish is grilled and seasoned nicely. The sauce was underwhelming. (I grew up in a small beach town in Southern California so I have pretty high expectations). Expectations weren't met. Ambikaty food truck is better. Cheese Enchilada Roja (11yo, vegetarian's choice): Drowned in sauce (see photo). After the first bite, couldn't eat it. It was gross and unappetizing. Stated that my homecooked are better and not just cheese. Chicken Enchilada Suiza (teen choice): It was just okay. Prefer shredded beef or pork but menu didn't give an option for other fillings. Would not order again. Carne Asada (med. rare, hubby choice): Was not made with traditional skirt steak. It as more like a hunk of seasoned sirloin. It was okay. The pinto beans were delicious! Would have liked more veggies then one thick slice of grilled onion. Would not order again. Chocolate Flan Torte: The flan was thin & tasteless, the cake was very moist and a nice addition along with the flavored whipped cream & toasted pecans. No traditional caramel sauce, so a bit disappointing. I would order this again, but not for take out. Rice and Bean side that came with 3 of the dishes was okay. The whole black beans were very dry. Would have preferred the pinto beans that came with the Carne Asada. Rice was seasoned well, had a good texture, and was tasty) All-in-All, Poquitos, Bothell was overpriced and the food was underwhelming to uneatable. It could have been SO much better and should have for the price. With take-out-order tip, no drinks, or alcohol we spent $105. Bothell has better Mexican food within walking distance or a 2 min. drive. Even the food trucks are better. Try Pasion Tequila (FAVE!! & $$), Julios ($), Ambakity Cocina Mexicana Food Truck (Fave!!& $), or the one by Baskin Robbins in Downtown Bothell. read more

I always order through a delivery app, uber or DoorDash, and their food is always A+++++++ every time it's amazing and they have so many vegan and veggie options compared to most places. I dont know how they get any bad reviews at all. It's a very nice place with authentic food. I don't go to places for drinks so I can't comment on it. But if you want cheap drinks then make them at home or go to a dive bar. Don't go to a nice restaurant and expect $2 drinks, this ain't applebees. Food is well portioned and menu options are great for pescatarian and vegetarian preferences! I got the spicy kale and mushroom burrito and my husband got the grilled fish tacos. Both were delicious! The restaurant has an old Mexican feel with wood and iron work which is a nice change from some of the local strip mall options with cheap colorful placemats and sombreros on the walls. Down side is that the regular menu is over priced, at least for 3 small steak tacos $16 and a somewhat syrupy margarita $10. Guac dish was small too. Looks like the $7 happy hour menu which is 9pm weekdays or 10pm on weekends is the way to go, I'll try to get the timing right on my next visit to experience that. read more

Poquitos take out has been my go to for a high quality burrito for over a year, but the last two times have been so underwhelming and disappointing. The burrito used to come with a nice side salad and dressing, now it's just Taco Bell lettuce thrown in a box. The size of the burrito has gotten noticeably smaller and their tortilla chips are stale. I just can't justify $25 for their burritos anymore. I was excited to try Poquitos in Bothell having enjoyed the Seattle location many times, but we won't be back because they do not seem to understand the concept of reservations. We made a dinner reservation for 7:15. When we arrived at the restaurant, they told me they had "unfortunately," as if it was out of their control, given our table to another party. The manager and hostess proceeded to discuss the situation and whether to let us sit at one of the many empty tables, but the manager then said the waitress covering that section was feeling really busy and they couldn't do that. They did say they "might" be able to get us a table in 20 to 30 minutes. We walked right out, across the street, and had a great dinner at Amaro. read more

I really want to love this place. Maybe they need more time. The food is good. Queso is good. Alambres is very good. But the margaritas are different every time. Today the Cadillacs were so awful I sent them back and ordered them with different tequila and a little extra GM. Also muddled orange. They came out excellent but charged $28 per drink. I can name a dozen Mexican restaurants that make equally good margaritas for half the price. And most will adjust to order as a matter of pride. I really wanted to love this place.... read more

Rule #1 of a new restaurant is to make sure you staff up so people don't have to wait so you make a good first impression, but apparently the owner missed the memo on that one. While the decor is fantastic, sadly I never got to try anything beyond the chips and salsa (which were terrible and weren't free) because it took over 45 minutes to get a drink and chips - at the bar!!! The salsa choices look good but tasted terrible and the drinks were horrible. Do yourself a favor and go to Matador if you want cool ambiance like this but with great food and drinks because this place apparently spent all its budget on looks and didn't save anything for the food, drinks and service. So disappointing! Oh and the parking is ridiculous! The buildings have so many spots that are ineligible that you end up having to park across the street at city hall on P3. I literally spent 20 minutes before I finally found a parking spot on a freakin Thursday and was so irritated by the time I did I was ready for a drink. read more

I recently noticed that Poquitos became available on my Caviar delivery app. I was unable to leave my home and thought I'd give it a try. Super delicious! Everything was packed really carefully and labeled on the outside of the box. Special requests had been followed, and the quality of ingredients was great. Wow. I came out of a Yelp-hibernation to leave this. Everything we had at this place was scrumptious, well crafted, and made to perfection. Their chips & salsas (plural, it's like $5 for chips + 3 different salsas) are absolutely delicious, all very unique from each other, and you get unlimited refills. The verde was hands down my favorite, it had some kick which I love! I love the vibe of this place, my husband & I took the kids and we had a nice Saturday afternoon lunch, very family-friendly, but I could totally see this as a great date night spot... the lighting and decor and layout is tasteful and sets a nice mood. I have been trying different Mexican restaurants this summer trying to find something I love, it's been a long road... and although I thought Poquitos was going to be 'too fancy' to be a favorite, it blew me away. I had the $7 potato tacos and they were out of this world, the shell was deep fried to perfection and the potatoes were melt-in-your-mouth creamy and delicious. I scooped different salsas onto each bite and just let myself go at it... get it girl! My husband, who wasn't very hungry, tried the carne asada fries... this vegetarian can't vouch for his fries, but he's one picky man and even he said they were really good. The seating was good, though with a mostly empty restaurant when we arrived around 4pm on a Sunday, they sat us in a back table and pulled a 5th chair to the table, even though there were some bigger tables available. I asked if we could move to one of the bigger tables but was told that they were reserved. After we received our drinks and chips, the hostess said we could move as no one was sitting at the tables but by then we were settled. We were surprised that we would have to pay for chips and salsa, though the chips were very good, as were the three very different salsas. One was spicy but they all were tasty. The only soft drinks they offered were either Coke or Sprite, or a Mexican bottled soft drink. I ordered the torta sandwich, and it was served super hot and it was super delicious. It was served in a bowl with some sort of sauce in it, and it was my favorite dish. The enchilada was very spicy so order this if you like heat. It was also very tasty and filling. The fish tacos come either grilled or fried, and my daughter ordered them fried. These were also delicious. My son ordered the taco plate, his and my daughter's meal came with rice and beans, which were served "family style" but they did not provide a serving spoon nor was there room on the plates to put the rice and beans on. My wife had the yam and steak tacos and they were delicious. The margaritas were very tasty and potent. Overall, we really liked the food, but the steep prices will prevent us from making this a regular rotation restaurant for us to go too. read more

We stopped in for margaritas and apps during happy hour on a Saturday around 3pm. The Seahawks were finishing up at Pop Kenney and there were lots of people wandering around town. We sat at a nice table for two that was half inside and half outside. Perfect place to enjoy the weather and watch the local happenings. The service was great and we appreciated the carafe of ice water that was left at the table. We started with Strawberry Margaritas and chips, salsa, and guacamole. So good! It wasn't a bar only menu, which was a plus. Our server, Jessica, was really friendly and professional. She was honest about the staff needing to work out some kinks of being a new resturant and getting to know the menu better herself. She was engaging and a joy. The food was really good. The chips were amazing and the guacamole was yummy. We ordered the guacamole and it came with a large bowl of chips. We never finished the chips. My son got the happy hour nachos and he really liked them. He wasn't a fan of the pickled onions or the black beans but the jalapeno queso was excellent. There wasn't much on there and we had to ask for more. They wanted to charge us $4.00 for a side order but Jessica comped it for us! I got the steak street tacos and the portion was just right for me. My boyfriend got the chicken tacos and i heard no complaints! We did not order off the dinner menu but I did see that the Carne Asada plate was $29 dollars which seems a little steep. Ill have to try it another time and see if the taste, portion size and over all presentation is worth that price. I'd heard this place was good and happened to be staying near Bothell so gave it a shot. We came during happy hour and for food the prices are fair, but the drinks seemed a little high. My margarita shown was $8.50 and didn't taste like it had much tequila in it. My boyfriend tried a mule which I believe was the same price and felt it wasn't worth it. As you can see by the steak tacos the portions are great for food and offered great flavor. We also tried the quest and chips which was delicious.
