2-stars overall because the atmosphere and decor was the best part of our experience. The limited menu is overpriced, especially the watered down margaritas. We ordered Enchiladas Suizas and a Carne Asada Burrito. Both were too salty and dry. My partner actually sent back his burrito, which he never does, as the meat was so salty and gristly that it was inedible. When we sent his entree back, the replacement entree took longer to come out instead of being expedited. We were upcharged on adding a protein to the replacement quesadilla, which was not noted on the menu. Service was ok but has room for improvement. read more

We had never been here before so decided to give it a try. We happened to arrive shortly before happy hour was ending, so we were able to get a few drinks and nachos from the HH menu. The drinks hit the spot and the nachos seemed to be an attempt to elevate a favorite but they didn't quite get there. Lots of toppings directly on top and then empty chips below. Still, we were hungry and didn't mind chowing down on what was in front of us. Let's back up and talk about service. The host was pleasant and took us to our table right away. He let us know who would be serving us and left us to browse the menu from the QR code on the table. Then, we waited and waited and waited for our server to arrive. He took our drink and appetizer order; then we waited and waited and waited for them to arrive. We ordered entrees that came before we were finished with our appetizers. Somewhere in between waiting too long and arriving too soon would have been nice. Regarding atmosphere, we were surprised to see so many kids. We left ours with a babysitter and thought we were going to have grown up time. I'm not mentioning this to knock the restaurant, just sharing in case that matters to you. The adults, though, were the loud ones. There was some sort of birthday or shower or something going on around the corner from us and those people were basically screaming and whooping it up as if they were the only ones in the place. Anyway... The trio of tacos were good - not spectacular, but good enough to finish off. The chicken burrito we had was just okay. What was really good and hit the spot? Guacamole! Don't leave here without getting some. Bottom line for us... if we're walking around Bothell and want to stop in for a margarita and guacamole, we know we won't be disappointed. We stopped in by chance while in town for business and were quite satisfied. For an appetizer we tried the Tres Amigos which consisted of chips + three dips, one jalapeno cheese, one medium red salsa, and one bean dip. All were very flavorful with perfect amount of spice, only a bit too much salt in the cheese dip. For main course I tried the Chicken Enchiladas Rojas, served with rice and black beans one the side. The enchilada sauce was the way I like it, leaning towards the red Chile pepper flavor with minimal tomato sauce flavor, topped with chopped onions, cilantro, and white cheese. My partner had the Enchiladas Suizas served with same side dish. The green sauce had a flavorful mild spice and was slightly tart. The service was friendly and attentive. No disappointment here and I recommend trying this place if you're in the area. read more

This is review for takeout only, I've never dined in. I absolutely love their family meals. They're a great value and allow me to have oven ready food at home. From the taco kit to the nacho kit, and I always end up having extras. Last time we ordered the nacho kit but then added some extra meat, and some extra tortillas, we had cheese and sour cream at home so we were able to make a couple meals out of it for close to what I would have spent on groceries, without spending all the time on prep. The chips also come in a single-use pan so you pretty much don't even need to do dishes when you're done. read more

Let me begin by saying the parking situation isn't great. There's street parking and limited retail/restaurant parking in the garages nearby but there are also several other businesses in the area that share those spaces. Anyway, after circling the block multiple times, I ended up parking three blocks away and walking in. I ordered the fish tacos with fried fish and the fish itself was flaky and fried perfectly...but bland. Also, due to the size of the pieces of fish, the taco was really difficult to eat and hold. I ended up having to use a fork to eat half because the tortilla couldn't even be folded around the fish. So props on generous portions, but the execution of it could have been better. Also, a little seasoning never hurt anyone. I'll start with the good about our waitress: she got our orders correct. That's it. When we initially tried to order, we had to work to get her attention and flag her down. It took several times of her passing by us to get her attention. From then on, she seemed to make a more conscious effort to stop by but was so incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. Part of what made her interactions awkward was that no one could ever hear what she had to say. She would stop by the table, say something quietly, and my friends and I would have to ask her to repeat what she said or take a guess. It was honestly such a relief every time she'd walk away from our table because we wouldn't have to strain to hear her. The food combined with the service did not make for a great experience. WE LOVE ALEX OUR SERVER HES AMAZING. He always paid attention to us, even though they were slammed and had a waitlist of at least an hour. Our drinks were strings and the menu had options for my friend who is vegan and gluten free! The best part was that they were welcoming to me and my dog. They said we could sit outside and obviously she just couldn't sit at the table, there was another group with a dog too! I'm not sure if it's a Bothell thing or a poquitos thing but I'm loving it! Hard to find a place that lets you bring your dog if you sit outside, and my dog comes with me a lot because she has separation anxiety and was abused. Thank you! read more

Poquitos is better than the reviews would have you believe. I've come here from time to time for several years and I always leave pleased. Sometimes I let the Yelp rating get to me and I second guess going, I end up here anyway, and then I'm pleased. Real wins: the nachos are phenomenal, but get extra jalapenos. If you want the enchiladas made with the veggie mix so they aren't just cheese or just chicken - just ask, they'll do it and it's so freaking good. I will say, the drinks seem to be about 80% ice so I'm not sure you're really getting a good pour.... So maybe that's something to keep in mind... But really, it's quite good overall. read more

I have been here many times and I really enjoyed my grillled fish tacos. Flavor was so good, and I will keep coming back. That being said, our overall experience today was a little frustrating. First they messed up our reservation and couldn't give us the outdoor table as reserved. We settled for a different table 40 mins after the reservation. Took about 10 mins to get someone to our table to take a drink order. While the waitress was pleasant enough, the service was slow. Finished our meal and we have waiters another solid 10 mins for a box and the check. Still no one. I am writing this review while waiting. I bet they are understaffed, but still:( read more

To be clear I have only had drinks at this location, so perhaps the food could change my mind, but I am giving them three stars for excellent customer service excellent cleanliness of the restaurant, and a decent amount of options on the menu I see. I think that the ambience is really pretty here, and I think that they have a great location. I think you should go in and try it for yourself, but I have been to the other location as well and the food is a hit or miss. read more

Poquitos has a really nice atmosphere and room for larger groups, and they take online reservations for parties larger than 10 (score!). The service was good. It's a louder environment so may be a good place to bring younger children or your boisterous friends, and maybe not the best for your hard of hearing friends. I am told the fish tacos are fresh, not fishy and yummy. I had a wet burrito with suiza sauce and it was really good. The appetizer guacamole was nice. read more

Atmosphere was decent, nice & clean tables however they have vegan options on their menu but the item requires a deduction of other ingredients. I ordered a burrito & asked for it to be vegan, waitress said it wasn't an issue. When I got my burrito it was just chopped potatoe in a tortilla. There was nothing else in it, no lettuce no veggies no other fillers. I had to ask for an extra salad just to avoid eating a sauced potatoe. Haven't returned. read more

Most times we have been to Poquitos we would rate it a 4 star. We typically have the best food and drinks, so maybe it was an "off" night (4/19/24), but this visit was a miss. The queso appetizer was luke warm and congealed, the jalapeño tequila margarita had absolutely no spice and the color even looked different than usual (tasted like watered down lime juice with a question if tequila was even added). We came in at the end of Happy Hour and the place was pretty busy. We were immediately and pleasantly greeted and shown to a table. Our server brought menus right away and told us we could still order from the happy hour menu for another 20 minutes. The food was wonderful: Carnitas tacos, nachos, chicken quesadillas, and fried corn. The tacos were so good we ordered them from the dinner menu and they came with rice and beans. Not the usual refried beans - black beans. Very tasty. The fried corn alone demands another visit. The Margaritas were good, but are $8.50 with just bar tequila. This is a wonderful addition to the developing downtown Bothell restaurant scene! read more

The food is bland, and overpriced. I'm not sure why, but within the past year they have made some weird changes to their menus including the Carne Asada which was merely a ny steak on top of dry beans. (No sauce anywhere on the plate) Why the cook thinks that's a carne asada? I have not a clue, but it's disappointing considering they used to have a phenomenal Carne Asada. When telling my waitress, she seemed to back the cooks decision to serve the dry dish AND WAS A BIT SNARKY with her comment of, "I've been here for 8 months and that's always how it's been served". Additionally she did not bring me the take out box I had asked for and did not ask us for our desert order. Perhaps she took offense to my criticism on the food. Based on this experience, I'm hesitant to return here for anything other than a drink and small bites and/or HH. read more

Our food was good. Not great, but good. Wait staff was good and moderately attentive. However one woman tried to clear out plates when we were very clearly still eating -- as in forks with food traveling toward mouths eating. Our larger issue was the cauliflower dish one person in our party ordered. It wasn't spicy. It was ON FIRE. Truly, borderline inedible. Like, stop at urgent care on the way home inedible. We had enough food otherwise at the table that we didn't say anything about it until the end of the meal, when our server asked if everything had been good. She really didn't believe us, as she noted that this dish is only moderately spicy. Perhaps it is supposed to be, but this iteration of it could have been called "Satan's Cauliflower." She went the route I expected, offering to bring something else or a dessert, rather than comping the dish. No, we didn't want anything else. We'd made that clear. We just wanted her to understand that something was desperately wrong with the cauliflower dish. Like, put someone into shock bad due to the intensity of the spice level bad. Had a wonderful Galentine's brunch with bottomless mimosas at Poquitos!! Like everywhere in Bothell, parking is a little bit of a challenge, but definitely worth the experience. Our waiter Brandon was friendly and attentive. We shared the dip trio and each got the mixed tacos. Great value for the price. Food and mimosas were both delicious. Sticking with "A-OK" (or three stars) after our latest visit. Service is improving (maybe they are listening?), but the food is just good. It doesn't knock your socks off. I think they are trying to one-up Cactus, but they're not there. The flavor combos and seasoning here don't always work. Tried the carne asada this trip, and it's basically a cut up steak (not a skirt steak) with a tomate de arbol sauce, and grilled onions and jalapeño. You have to cut up the onion and jalapeño and mix them into the sauce to really get much flavor from the dish. A bit of a disappointment. Also had the fish tacos, and they lacked flavor in a big way. When Taco Time has better tasting fish tacos, you have a problem. The chicharrones served with jalapeño queso was the best tasting food in the meal, though the promised chile pequin salt was nowhere to be seen. I think Poquitos needs to pay the same attention to their food recipes as they do to their amazing decor. If they would do that, they would have a five star winner. For now, it's just a three star "A-OK" place. ---- PREVIOUS REVIEW ---- This is is a beautiful space. Cool floor layout, with several smaller spaces all connected in an open air configuration. Flooring, lights, and fixtures all add to the ambience. Came in around 3:30pm on a Friday. Host who seated me provided a happy hour menu and indicated the full menu was not available for orders until 4pm. They are set on this, so keep it in mind. Took a while for the server to show. Not sure why because it wasn't busy. I ordered the nachos with pork carnitas. Very good, but not quite enough toppings for all the chips. I actually had to wait even longer for my nachos because there was an issue. When I ordered them, I was very specific about no guacamole. They arrived, and it was obvious they had had guacamole on top that had been scrapped off. Clear patches of guacamole remained. Me: Uh oh. We've got guacamole on it. Server: Just a tiny bit. Is that okay? Me: No. I am deathly allergic to avocado. So, this has to be remade. Server: Okay No apology. Nothing. Took the food and whisked it off to the kitchen. At this point, we are looking at a one star review -- I don't take kindly to this type of deadly (for me) "mistake." When the remade nachos showed up, the server did apologize and tell me she did not know I was allergic. Sure. But I typically say that I am when I order, but I suppose I might have omitted that information this time around out of literally a few hundred times saying that over the years. Server was good about refilling drink during the wait and nacho eating time. Overall, service is okay--but it's certainly not overtly friendly or warm and welcoming. Kind of coldly and moderately efficient. Anyways, the nachos were good, so we're back to two stars (I don't lightly forgive attempted manslaugter by avocado). And it was now 4:05. So, let's try the chile relleno that sounds so good on the menu. The menu says it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get a chile relleno (made to order). Mine showed up at 4:28. The dish is two rellenos. Oddly, they were served with a side of tortillas. They are stuffed with chicken tinga and served piping hot (warning!). They don't skimp on filling, and these were very tasty. The tinga does overpower the peppers a bit, but it's still an interesting flavor combination. This is a pretty substantial dish, and I had leftovers for lunch tomorrow. A little pricey at $35.75 (before tip) for a late lunch of an appetizer, entree, and Coke. So, where does this leave me on stars? I'd have gone four, except for the guacamole incident. Three stars seems fair at this point. I will return, and maybe my rating will go up after I have a few more experiences to warrant it. read more

Was there with friends last night. We have a running event where we eat at a different Mexican restaurant every couple weeks, never repeating places. Of the dozen or so we've been to, this one was the most disappointing. If you want scarce, bland food for a big price, this is your place. If that wasn't bad enough, they are the only Mexican restaurant I have ever seen that makes you pay for chips and salsa. Sat at a table in the bar and waited for service. The waiter finally arrived and asked if using the menu via the QR code was alright. When we asked for paper menus, we got a reaction like when you ask someone to help you move to a new house. He didn't seem happy about it but said he would do it. The menu thing felt odd considering their entire dinner menu fits on one page with the booze menu on the back of it. I had the mixed tacos for $17.50. Three different types of taco, each on a single street taco tortilla that was about 4" diameter. They came with a dish about that same size filled with whole black beans and rice. When the dish arrived, my friends just stared in disbelief. Finished them pretty quickly. Was surprised at just how little flavor all of them had. At other places, I normally have enough to take home for lunch the next day. All of my friends said pretty much the same thing about their food. The waiter didn't come around much. It took quite a while to get our bill. read more

I love their vegan option- spicy kale and mushroom burrito! They stuff it with rice, beans, kale and mushrooms. It's not too spicy for me and I'm not a spice lover. It's the best way to get two healthy super foods all in one in a very tasty burrito. I ordered from their website which was very easy and I added avocado for $2. I picked it up from their Bothell location. Only thing about Bothell is the parking is hard to figure out. I had to park and walk a ways. I also tried their tacos with the same mix. I was a little disappointed at how small the tacos were and the side of rice and beans was, especially because they cost more than the burrito. All the fixings they give you such as cabbage and radishes were a nice added touch, I didn't realize they were for the tacos, since I ordered take-out and several items. I had to order the vegan pozole, being from New Mexico I had to get my green Chile and posole in. It was very flavorful with a good amount of beans, posole and broth. The green chiles were there but I couldn't quite taste any heat. Overall, I'm obsessed with this place and I'm so glad it's close to home! read more

Overall, yes, I'd go again because it's close to home but there's plenty of other Mexican restaurants that are better and not too far away that's if recommend before this. Poquitos is a really solid place for drinks and appetizers. We had three variations of margaritas and enjoyed them all, and the corn appetizer was really delicious. The main plates were good but not great. I had the pork, which was really pork shoulder covered in sauce. I was kind of expecting the pork to be more integrated with the sauce but it was just kind of dry cubes covered in tomatillo. The enchiladas were better but the sauce was heavy on the cream. It felt like the menu takes a few too many creative liberties with Tex mex for our taste. Service was great, and our waiter gave good recommendations on drinks. We'll go back for happy hour for sure but not a meal. read more
