I have been driving by this place for 8 years and telling myself "ohhh I should stop there one day...". Well, yesterday I finally did! I ordered a very eclectic meal of a gyro sandwich and toasted ravioli. They were both excellent and made me wish I had taken the time to check out Pop's earlier. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. The guy at the counter was super friendly. He was very patient with me ordering (I can be a bit indecisive to say the least.... and their menu is HUGE). He offered me suggestions which were very helpful. I cannot wait to go back and try some other items on the menu!

Stopped for a hot dog & fries. Basic but all the right elements! Hot dog had a good snap, bun was fresh, pickle was perfect! Very tasty dog. Fries were not fresh cut, but still a better quality fry cooked perfectly. Overall, can't be beat for less than $5!!!

the jalapeño poppers are my absolute favorite here. $5.37 after tax for 6 of them but boy they sure are worth it. The last popper was the most perfect popper in the bunch. I get mine with cream cheese but you can also get them with cheddar cheese.

Excellent Philly Beef sandwich! Beef was well seasoned, toppings were fresh and the bread was perfectly soft yet toasty!

Very friendly service from the younger guy at the counter. His dad was a curmudgeon but a funny one. Clean, efficient and good food.

The room is ready for us immediately, however, it took an entire hour for me to get my beverage. We were told that our server had a family emergency so the hostess stepped in. She was very attentive and pleasant. When I finally received my dinner, they served me the plate of shish kebabs with only the beef kebab telling me that they had to put the chicken kebab back on the grill because it was not ready. I think they may have removed the vegetables from the kebab with the undercooked chicken because they tasted funny. I only took a few bites and had the rest of it wrapped up. I got very sick that night. Pretty sure I had a tinge of food poisoning.

We had children with us and asked for their menu items to come as fast as they could. However, the server was extremely short with us and didn't even bring drinks quickly. While the restaurant was not very busy, it too a very long time to get our food - especially one in our group who didn't get food until almost everyone else was done. The food itself was ok, but I would say that nothing was exceptional - somewhat bland entrees and lacking originality. Could be what we ordered...as I know many people find the food here to be quite good. The prices are reasonable for the area but I was disappointed with the general unfriendly service and time to receive food. I've been here previously and we had a somewhat lackluster meal that time also. The previous time, they were pleasant enough but food was only ok - entrees were not very hot when we received them. All in all, there are friendlier spots in the area.

The reviews advertised authentic German food. As a German I had to try it. The potato pancakes were a good start, tasted like mom used to make. The Platter had a lot of food. I don't know what region this place is from, the sauerkraut and Blaukraut were not Bavarian, the Spätzle felt ready made and not home made. The Bratwurst was too fine for me, I'm thinking north German. The strudel was good tho. The service was fantastic! From host to server they took care of me and made sure I wanted for nothing, so I can't complain there. Decor wise this looks like what you'd imagine a German restaurant looking like in the US. Lots of banners advertising beer and German flags hanging on the walls with a collection of steins everywhere you look. Overall it's not "authentic" for me, but the food tasted good and the service was exceptional.

I almost always order one or more of the following: Steak Tartar (as a starter), followed by Leberknodel Soupe (liver dumpling soup), and then either the Bavarian Pork Shank, or the Sauerbraten, or the Wiener Schnitzel (a breaded & fried veal cutlet that's as big and pounded flat as a large pancake) as my main. Get these with the Spätzle and the sweet stewed Red Cabbage for the best experience. There is truly no reason to order the burger or the salmon.

I met the owner Rutiv who is very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming at Taste of Elmwood Park (which by the way is a great way to preview foods from local restaurants) when I tried their Philly steak sandwich, we had it again today. The sandwich was delicious, I would have liked the bread toasted to a crunchy element but was still a good sandwich. For an appetizer we had Samosa (similar to an empanada in concept) this was filled with peas and potatoes which were seasoned nicely and when accompanied with the turmeric sauce was awesome. The turmeric sauce added spice and a new level of flavor. We also tried the marsala fries, they were regular crinkle, cut fries, but with a special flavor of marsala; also very tasty. I ordered the Goat Curry marinated goat cooked in a homemade cashew gravy. I also ordered garlic naan which was phenomenal; the goat was season well and very tender, it also came with Jeera which is a light rice that you can literally sprinkleon the curry instead of being clumpy like regular white rice. Using the naan as a vessel to eat, the dish, took it to a whole new level. Glenda tried the mango lassi, which is basically a shake made with mango, ice cream, and shaved almonds on top. That drink was cool and refreshing. We will definitely return to this restaurant, there are a few more things that I would like to try. I give this restaurant 5 stars, Ciao Ciao for now. please give it a try and let me know your opinion.
