Much better than expected. In Kutztown today, stopped for lunch with my son. I notice they have been around 15 years, that's a good start. Food was nothing fancy but they did a nice job. If you're looking for a great little 50's style restaurant this is the place. The burgers and fries were typical diner food and the fried mac'n cheese were a nice modern twist. The food was pretty much what you would expect. The candy store and ice cream shop on the other side are much better than the food. Don't skip desert. read more

So the food was fast and pretty good. But the place is in need of some serious cleaning. There is dust lining all the knick-knacks on the walls. There is debris along the baseboards, fingerprint smudges on the booths and walls, and it looks like they don't bother to mop under the tables because it would mean moving the tables. I don't know what condition the kitchen is in, but the cleanliness factor isn't high. Even the waitress has a disgusting apron on. She was nice as pie, but food borne illness is the number 1 issue. They really need to work on that to make themselves a premier place to eat. Its hard to see the 50s ambiance through greasy finger prints and dust. read more

Currently in pops. Having an awful experience. I have had pops before, take out milkshake, it was excellent. I am now dining in. Took about 20 minutes to have my order taken. Ordered fries and a milkshake, I have yet to receive mine, however my friend recieved his. They're cold. I have not received my fries or milkshake yet. Place isn't even close to capacity. Easily the worst service I have had in kutztowm . I had large expectations to watch the beginning of a hockey game at 930. That clearly wont be happening. "Happy Days cutesy" comes to mind when visiting this place. It's an ice cream parlor but while the ice cream is not bad, don't expect anything creative or amazing. They offer cones and dipped ice cream and a few sundaes that are, well just average. Attempts at food are pretty ordinary- diner burgers and fries. The one star rating was earned for the average food but mostly because-- after sitting at the outside tables several times, all I can say is Main Street in Kutztown is deafening and uncomfortably so. Many locals seem to think that AMAZINGLY loud cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. are somehow cool. They are not. If one is sitting inside these beasts can rattle the glass, if your are sitting outside, they can damage your hearing. Either way, conversation stops regularly and often until they get far enough away for it to resume. This is relaxing? Are you kidding? Get me outa' here. read more

It was completely dead inside when I went in and I was confused as to where to sit since they offer both table and counter service. Counter service area just had the ice cream, so I assumed to eat real food that you had to go into the table service entrance. The waitress was real nice and the food came out very quick. Just ate there for the first time w/ a friend. Took the lady 25 mins to take our order and there were 3 tables in the place. I'm from NY so I don't get to frequent Pop's on a regular basis and in fact have only been here twice so far while visiting the area. That being said, if I lived nearby I'd probably be here all the time. The service, the ice cream, the decor, the cleanliness, the parking, and the price all add up to make this a five star establishment. Let's start with the service...The service is fantastic. The young women working here are always cheerful, always smiling, very patient with me since I ask a lot of questions, and are generous with allowing sampling of flavors. When I couldn't decide between a small and a large, the woman helping me was kind enough to show me the actual scoop size of the ice cream and the dish it is served in. The scoop size is very generous. I got the impression that this is a fun place to work and the employees must be treated well because they all seemed genuinely happy. Excellent service. The ice cream itself is delicious and there's a fabulous variety of flavors and sundaes to choose from. They even have frozen chocolate covered bananas and frozen chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick. I have not tried either of those myself but my brother-in-law enjoyed the cheesecake very much. The first time I went I had a large vanilla soft serve sundae and it was delicious. The second time I went I had a small brownie sundae with milky way ice cream and it was outrageous! Others in my party enjoyed the cookie monster sundae very much. My children enjoyed their spoons which changed from pink to purple when submerged in the cold ice cream. The decor of this place is great. It has that 1950s diner soda pop shop look. The walls are pink and have lots of cute signs, posters, and pictures from that era. There is one single unisex small bathroom (unfortunately no changing table and no room for one) located at the back. Both times I used it it was clean and had plenty of supplies (tp, soap, etc.). The tables and floor were also very clean. It is clear this place is well cared for. We parked on the street both times we went and had no trouble finding two or three spots (we came in three cars the first time and two the second time). I'm told there is a parking lot nearby but we didn't go there since we found spots on the street so close to Pop's. Easy. Lastly, I'd like to mention the value. We got a lot of ice cream for a low price. If memory serves, I believe I spent $20-something for seven adults and two children. It was worth every penny! Can't wait to go back!! read more

Have experienced much better. I took my daughter here and she and I both thought that the environment was a little weird, or as she described it "Shady." I'm not really sure what it was exactly. The owner himself was very nice but also came off as a little creepy. The food turned out okay, nothing better than old fashioned diner food, but nothing worse than gas station hot dogs. I'd give it a 2/5 only because of the cool aesthetic. I'd probably save your money and go somewhere a little more enjoyable. read more

My family and I have been here a few times now, for either an anniversary date or for Valentine's Day. We love this place! The retro decor and classic music is great ambiance. They have gone through some redesigns since the first time we were there and it has certainly come a long way. I usually get the Jack Daniels chicken thing and it's always delicious. We've never had to wait too long for the food but even if we did, we wouldn't mind because we like the atmosphere of the joint. We've always loved all of our food. I always order a large ice cream and then I regret it because it's MASSIVE! Luckily, the waitress has the foresight to bring a cup for me to dump it into for the ride home. Oh and by the by, we drive about 45 minutes to get there every time because it's worth it! read more

It is a really cute place. Great background music, artwork on the walls, and really great service. And the checkers on the table were a plus! I came here with someone and we were waiting for our bus to arrive and told the waitress and she was completely fine with us staying for an hour or so. I really appreciated that and she kept checking up on us for water or anything else we wanted. Onto the food: I ordered a veggie burger and fries. My friend ordered a chicken parm sandwich with fries. We snacked on mozzarella sticks and had a banana splits afterwards. Veggie burger was probably a Morningstar burger but it wasn't undercooked or anything. Chicken parm sandwich was alright. It was a malt shop so ice is the main attraction and the banana split was the best part; the strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla ice cream were delicious. Cute concept, but kind of dingy inside. We sat on the table service side and there was stuff piled up all over the counter and behind it. There were 2 other tables filled when we arrived around 530 on a Saturday, so not busy at all. We were hoping that it would be a nice quick meal since we had 2 young children with us, but unfortunately that was not the case. By the time our food came out it was almost 645, the waitresses seem to just disappear and we sat with our check waiting to pay until almost 730. There were a lot of glances going on between tables as if to ask one another "why on earth are a burger and fries taking this long?". We will dine elsewhere next time the kids want a burger! read more

We didn't have ice cream, so maybe that is the issue, but this was about the worst lunch we ever had. We ordered a turkey panini and grilled cheese, but after a 25 minute wait got a turkey panini that was simply buttered bread with turkey and cheese and a grilled macaroni and cheese sandwich. After I commented on the inaccuracy, they offered to fix the sandwich, which was great, but it was buttered bread with melted cheese and simply awful. I didn't know grilled cheese was so difficult.
