Our waiter/server was absolutely amazing. His name was Dale and he was on his A-game. That man went above and beyond in every way possible. So lets recap here ok. We were greeted with a friendly face upon entry on a Thursday evening around 7:30. The place was quite busy with the bar full and more than half the tables sat. Our server, Rhonda, came to the table quickly for our drink order and then explained the specials and some of her personal favorite dishes. Before I get into the food, I will say Rhonda was an excellent server and made the entire experience pleasurable. Bread is brought to the table automatically. Warm, soft, delicious. It was a great way to start the meal and got us excited for what was to come.... We started with an order of Smoked Trout Dip. One of our personal favorite dishes we always get when we see it. This completely fell flat and was a disappointment. I do not recommend. The fried pita was hard and stale as though it had been sitting for days. The dip itself was basically just a giant ball of cream cheese. Almost not trout. No smoked flavor. Next came soup. We ordered Lobster Bisque and the special for the day, New York Chowder. The Lobster Bisque came out cold to the touch so I sent it back. It was returned clearly fresh out of the microwave and still not hot but at least warm. The Chowder was DELICIOUS. Lots of flavor, hearty, and satisfying. For entrees we went with the Salmon with Cucumber & Avocado and a side of sautéed spinach, as well as the Shrimp & Grits with a Tasso Ham and Bacon Cream Sauce. Salmon was seasoned very well and cooked nicely. Would likely order again. The Shrimp & Grits were just okay. The fried cheese grit cake seemed a little over cooked and they were a little skimpy on the cream sauce. Speaking of skimpy, there was next to no ham or bacon in it. Wouldn't recommend this dish. Generally we would grab a dessert to share but after the let downs we opted out. I think I would give this place another swing as it could have just been an off night for the kitchen and we did enjoy our service.

When we arrived, we noticed there was a large party being hosted in the private/back party room, which was nice to see that the restaurant is able to accommodate larger gatherings. Our waitress was also very kind, friendly, and attentive, and we appreciated her customer service throughout our visit. There were, however, a few concerns we wanted to bring to management's attention. First, we noticed several desserts sitting off to the side behind us that appeared to be uncovered. We are not sure whether these desserts had been prepared in advance for customers to order, but if that was the case, we strongly recommend that they remain properly covered or protected at all times. With customers and employees walking nearby and insects potentially flying around the restaurant, leaving uncovered desserts exposed does not appear sanitary or appropriate for food service. We also experienced an issue with the temperature of some of our food. Two of our seafood dishes arrived only semi-warm rather than hot and fresh. We ordered the Pappadeaux Platter with stuffed shrimp and fries. Unfortunately, the fries were cold, and the seafood on top was only lukewarm. This was particularly disappointing because we were looking forward to enjoying the seafood while visiting the restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and my entire meal arrived hot. Because my meal was served at the appropriate temperature, we were confused as to why the other dishes were not. We understand that different items may require different preparation times, but customers should receive their complete meals hot and fresh. Our suggestion would be to coordinate the timing of the food preparation, particularly with items such as fries, so that they are prepared as close to serving time as possible. Food should ideally arrive at the table hot and fresh rather than having one component become cold while waiting for the other items to be completed. We did bring the issue to our waitress's attention, and she was very accommodating and provided a $12 credit toward the fries. We appreciated her effort to address the concern. However, the credit did not change the fact that my husband and daughter were unable to fully enjoy their seafood dishes because the food was not served hot. We are sharing this feedback because we have visited this location before and had a great experience, so we know the restaurant is capable of providing excellent food and service. Our goal is simply to bring these concerns to management's attention so they can be reviewed with the appropriate staff. Thank you for taking the time to review our experience.
