My order for whole steam fish took around 20 to 30mins to come because that's how long it takes to make it. I was surprised at how much okra was in the dish. Good thing I love okra so I ate it right up. My side was rice and beans which honestly a bit dry so I didn't really touch it. The fish was well seasoned and it was huge. I mean if you aren't into fish, first don't get this, or if you aren't fully ready to eat a whole fish then get this to share. It was my main, I didn't get any apps or dessert so I just concentrated on finishing the fish. It was excellent.

We ate Thursday evening at Smokey D's BBQ on Main St. in Chanute. Our waitress was helpful, cordial and attentive; and our food was on the table quickly. My husband and I both had the Thursday special: A burger covered with brisket, topped with cheese, then topped with either coleslaw or baked beans. Potato salad for the side. The brisket was delicious and tender, and the hamburger was very flavorful. Add a slathering of BBQ sauce, and you know this is worth a second trip to SE Kansas. I enjoyed the classic potato salad, but I do like how my husband makes it with a little Worcesterchire Sauce to kick it up a notch. We talked with the owner, Mark Davidson, and his wife. We also sampled the sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. We really need some of that when you get it in a bottle! We must come back to try other menu items. What an oasis! We walked in to find a cool watering hole with a safari theme, complete with real taxidermied African animals on the wall and creative lighting that was fun, inviting and surprisingly chic. Our waitress was helpful and nice and had great drink and food suggestions. The fare was quite good and again, more than we expected. We were impressed they graciously marked vegetarian items as such in their menu which was much appreciated by the vegetarian in our troupe. We also LOVED their version of a Long Island Iced Tea, which we highly recommend if you're ever there. It was a great place to unwind and debrief from our event and being late on a weeknight, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, so it was the perfect ending to our time in Sedan.
