We had the absolute best service and food at this location tonight . I had not been to Popeyes in years because this particular location turned me off in the past. Tonight was a total game changer! The staff were so friendly and polite. The food hit so great tonight . We got chicken sandwiches and Cajun fries . Absolutely cooked to perfection and so delicious. Major props to the turn around to this Popeyes location!! read more

No one answered in drive through it was 3 minutes before opening. The doors were locked and no one answered.

This review is regarding ONE female manager, short women, brown hair in a ponytail, no name tag- I waited for my turn, as there were a few ppl ahead of me, this women Behaved Horribly to the customers, she actually barked at a customer who was waiting on his order, she was yelling at staff, a guy came up to take my order Super Nice guy, this women was standing over him, I asked if they had coupons, and this WOMEN snapped at me, Told me NO WE DONT TAKE OR OFFER COUPONS anymore, pushed the guy who WAS TRYING to take my order AWAY FROM the register, then asked me what I wanted WHILE she barked at other employees, Her behavior was so Completely unacceptable that I said forget it, I then told her her attitude Sucked and I left ! I have being going to this location for almost 3 yrs, and the STAFF has ALWAYS been kind, helpful and efficient!!! That is until today !! This women (mgr) and her poor attitude is a reflection on this location, I feel for the employees who have to deal with Her negative DICTATOR BEHAVIOR! I did actually Call to complain, something I have never done before! I spoke with a very Kind Man (BRIAN) who manages this site on the Regular . I explained what happened, even though this women had no name tag-, BRIAN knew who I was speaking of! Brian profusely Apologized for the poor treatment I received, and assured me that he would take care of the problem. This women Should not Be at the front end dealing with people with that BETTER THAN THOW attitude.. To all the other employees, I AM SO SORRY you all have to work under such a SHREW! THANK YOU Brian for being so professional while handling my grievance! read more

at 10:02PM Sunday 12/21/2025! I ordered online directly to their website. the staff working in this hour have said that the store is close at 10PM. the store hours says 11PM and direct website -app takes money! we are not the only one who also ordered. they refused to give us our food as they said they are already close. IF THE BUSINESS HOURS ARE changed and CLOSED AT 10PM THEN FIRST thing A BUSINESS SHOULD DO IS UPDATE THEIR HOURS IN THEIR WEBSITE AND STOP TAKING MONEY online 30 minutes prior to closing! UNLESS THEY ARE JUST LAZY TO MAKE MORE FOOD, AS EVERYONE WANTS TO GO HOME! Now our money is taken and there is no food. the worse place ever! not only few months ago, but you also pay for mixed, and they give you all chicken breast! Go to another location. Misleading! read more

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen - my receipt - Fast Food Near Me - McHenry, Illinois

See all

This is the first time I've been to this Popeyes in McHenry . great and fresh chicken, hot and order was ready on time. Excellent friendly customer service. My husband said this was the best spicy chicken he's had from all the other Popeyes we've had ordered from will be back again. read more

My brother and I walked in and each ordered a two piece dinner. It took 13 minutes for us to get our food. After 10 minutes of waiting, I asked why our order was taking so long, the manager said "we are extremely busy." Us and another gentleman were the only people in the restaurant. Although it appeared they were busy filling a couple of Uber orders. When we finally got our order, I was given white meet, when I had ordered dark meat. My receipt clearly stated dark meat, and the box was marked dark meat. Since we were already running late, I decided to just eat the white meat. I took a bite out of the breast and it was so dry and overcooked, that I could not eat it. I ate the wing, (which was also very dry and overcooked), the biscuit and beans and rice. My brother, who loves white meat, could not eat his breast either and ended up eating only the wing and his sides. I will have to say that the restaurant was very clean. Probably the cleanest Popeye's I have ever been to. read more

You guys suck as bad as Burger King. We just left Burger King because their doors were locked. We decided on going to Popeye's for chicken. We get to Popeye's and while the doors were open, we walked up to the register and there was a sign saying drive thru only. When nobody acknowledged us we walked out. You know at least Burger King locked the doors. As I said in my Burger King review, if you can't serve us for dine in, you don't deserve our business. Trying to eat fried chicken in a car, it makes a huge greasy mess. We left Popeye's and again went down the road to Applebees. They welcomed us for dine in and we had a great meal. read more

This place is just swell, the food is nice and fresh, the people are neat tidy and respectful employees, and my delicery was on time and ready for pick up. read more

Nice people work here and they are always busy at the drive thru. Of all the businesses in this area I like the practical nature of this one the most. They serve ginormous pieces of chicken and I appreciate it. Usually by the time I admit I really want to go to Popeyes I need a lot of food in me. I walk everywhere since I don't drive so I justify spending $14 on a combo for myself by building my muscle all month. Staff is polite and friendly. No attitude from anyone here ever! It's refreshing. read more

My spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy and it was dry.horrable sandwich do not get a spicy chicken sandwich at this location.

We are newer to the McHenry area and we have been really wanting Popeyes since moving up here but saw the reviews weren't good so we decided to not get it for months. Fast forward about 9 months it is now last weekend and my husband really wanted Popeyes so we checked the reviews and nothing changed but my husband said let's just chance it lol. So I go in expecting some smelly dirty place with rude employees but it was NOTHING LIKE THAT! I walk in and doesn't smell and is clean. Walked up to the counter and some girl was moping the floor so kinda ignored me and I was like ok w/e she might not have seen me. Then a guy that looks like a manager walked up and took my order and he was was friendly. We ordered the 14 tender family meal that comes with 2 large sides and biscuits and added the strawberry biscuits. Everything was good and hot except our only complaint is the chicken could have been hotter or fresher (that is why I am rating 4 stars). I would definitely recommend and go back again. I am only posting this just in case someone else is out there relying on reviews and wanted to have Popeyes but did because there hasn't been any new good reviews. read more

Ok so I wanted to try the famous chicken sandwich. It was roped in half not even a whole intact piece. It was just ok. I will not go back. The fries we good. It did take 20 minutes in the drive through from my pulling up to food delivery. It was 18:00 and I got food at 18:20. The ketchup was off also. read more

never again, first time chicken sandwich was horrible, second time got my stomach cleaned out. The store didn't care and corporate was worse, never answered my emails or calls, love Popeyes but can't wait until the McHenry store is gone. read more

I have tried calling a dozen times over the past week during business hours. I was attempting to order 150 pieces for a party but guess they don't want the business. Frustrating read more

The customer service was so nice to us! Made the food so fast and the employees were very kind.

It's Popeyes... you already know what it is before going, & based off the other reviews, those old guys coming thru at close are dumbasses & losers. This review is purely based on the performance of the staff, & let me just say they are all awesome from management to the drive thru workers everyone is super friendly! So listen up corporate & give these people raises at the mchenry location! They are AWESOME read more

Arrive at 4:00 in the afternoon. Only one there , no drive up just me. Waited at the order counter for 10 minutes. Finally a person from the back told the girl that someone was at the counter. She was talking to the girl at the window drive up. Took my order and my money and started to prepare my meal. I ordered 12 piece meal. She dropped half the chicken on the floor and started over. When done I received my meal and drove home. After I opened up the chicken I Only had 9 pieces. Shorted me 3 thighs . I had the worst service I had ever been thru. Never again. Bad business. read more

The chicken sandwich is delicious but the fries are always under cooked and dumped in the bottom of the bag. This is weird.

Usually a decent experience with my food. But the men's bathroom smells like a full on trucker stop bathroom. Cover it in bleach and let it sit overnight. Then get some air fresheners. read more

Got sick, chicken had to have sat there for hours. I completely understand we have a labor shortage but if you're going to get people sick and charge inflated prices, just close down. read more

Management is disrespectful, employees don't care, restaurant is a mess, wrong orders... This is NOT the place to eat. Contacted corporate about problems I had, and they made no real effort to fix the problems. Nothing like a food chain that doesn't believe in customer service or satisfaction. I will never eat here again or recommend to anyone! read more

We stopped in and ordered food through the drive-thru. We were told it would be 10 minutes because they had to make us wings and legs fresh. They told us to park in front and they'd bring it out to us. After 20 minutes of waiting, I called and was told they were bringing it right out. 10 minutes later, still nothing, so I called again and was told they were at the door bringing it out. 10 minutes later they refused to pick up the phone so I went inside. They told me they gave it to me already, which they hadn't, then they all ignored me and it took another 20 minutes for them to fulfill my order, just for them to get it completely wrong. I was there for almost an hour just for them to never even give me wings AT ALL, or apologize for the way they treated me. We got there at 3:58 and didn't receive food til almost 5, half of which wasn't even correct. And we NEVER saw anyone come out with food for anyone! read more

Caveat Emptor, buyer beware, McHenry! This location has recently gone downhill quickly! This is the 2nd consecutive time this location has botched my order. I ordered the mac & cheese as my side both times & both times received mashed potatoes & gravy. Not sure what accounts for the recent decline in order accuracy. read more

They can't get any orders correct. Ordered multiple times with errors every time. Terrible customer service don't care if they make mistake. read more

I you like chicken tenders, this is NOT the place for you. Last ordered 9/20/2020, 3 piece spicy tenders and got NO chicken, just fried breading. Don't waste your hard earned money. read more

Went there for lunch. The fries were greasy and limp. The chicken sandwich tasted stringy and old. The Cajun rice had a plastic piece in the dish. Wow! What a disappointment. Will travel out of my way to Crystal Lake for a good Popeyes Restaurant. read more
