    Screens work, just closed.
    Jody T.

Why is it ALWAYS something with Popeyes? I thought since this was a newer location that maybe it would be better. But no, not really. Let me just say that I love the chicken. Can never fault them for that. But service and locations are always a mixed bag. For starters, the drive thru is closed. Both lanes. The drive thru screens look fine, so this may be a staffing issue? So I parked & went in. No employees in sight. Only 2 of 3 kiosks working to order. I did get my food quickly. But that begs the question why the drive thru could not have worked. My food was lukewarm but at least accurate.

Very small chicken pieces, and not spicy

Let me start by saying I'm a longtime fan of Popeyes. Growing up in New Orleans, Popeyes fried chicken was a regular staple, so I was genuinely excited to see the new location open on Highway 150. Unfortunately, my experience couldn't have been more disappointing. I went through the drive-thru around 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. It took roughly 30 minutes from the time I placed my order to when I finally received my food and drove away. When I got home, I discovered that instead of the mashed potatoes I ordered, I had been given red beans and rice. Normally, I enjoy this dish, but the rice was undercooked and the beans were dry. The French fries were cold, limp, and had an odd waxy taste. I ordered spicy chicken, yet there was no hint of spice at all, and the chicken leg was so small it could've passed for a drumette. The commercials and ads make the food look fantastic, but this visit was the opposite--far from the Popeyes I remember. I won't be returning.

    Raw chicken

I have tried and tried with the place and EVERY SINGLE TIME IM LET DOWN! I spent 26 bucks order 0802 and it wasn't worth it. i ordered a wrap meal, 3 fries and a tender meal. It took over 20 min to get it. At that time 2 young employees came in with food from another resturant and clocked in. A customer asked them a question, he was having issues on the kiosk and she ignored him. They also ignored the manager when she asked them where their work shoes were. I received my order and had to go back in the store twice for missing items. The final thing for me was when I opened my wrap. There was barley a chicken tender in there! I took it back in and asked for another one to be added the manager said no and that how they come. I have never had a wrap from them with a tender that small! I left upset and once I drove off my mom said her chicken tasted funny and chewy. I looked at the chicken and it WASN'T DONE!!! They gave my mother raw chicken! live near here and I was so excited when I found out they were coming here but it has been one disappointing trip after another and wasted money. They just need to close the store, retrain new staff and reopen because if this continues I see them closed by the end of the year. 1 star is too nice it should be zero stars!

Nothing tastes worse than disappointment. Even by fast-food standards, this was underwhelming. I spent $26 to try the featured Last Dab meal, only to sit down and find no sauces -- the very reason I came in the first place. When I asked at the counter, I was told they didn't have any. This should have been tracked in inventory or at least communicated to customers before ordering. While the food itself might have been fine, the lack of accountability turned the whole experience into a bottom-tier visit.

Out of fried chicken at a chicken fast food restaurant? Seriously? Store on Hwy 280 obviously needs to find a better manager.

These people are idiots. They never get my order right, they are rude, and the store is disgusting. Go somewhere else.

They also have some half-price appetizers during that time. We were promptly seated, didn't have a weight. This is my first time at this location. I had been to the one in Alabaster and Hoover location, but not this location. Our server's name is Shellee. She said it was her second shift. I never would've known unless she told me she was extremely attentive and friendly. We both started off with the perfect margarita on the rocks. We each had two of them. They were so delicious. I believe she said the bartender's name was Kasey. She definitely did a great job on those drink. We had a pretzel and beer cheese appetizer to start with which was very delicious and was recommended by the server. For dinner, I have the buffalo chicken wrap and my partner had the ribs. We were both happy with our meals. I did visit the bathroom and it was very clean. It definitely is one of the bigger locations I will definitely be back here again

I almost a shed a tear to this news. Amen.

You order at the counter, which can be a little hectic for a first-timer. Luckily for me, I knew what I wanted and quickly found it on the big menu on the wall beside me. I later noticed that people were looking at handheld menus as you entered the restaurant. There was no one in front of me when I entered, so I didn't see those. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. I ordered the pulled pork shoulder tray with two sides. If you have read my reviews, you know I only eat fries, so I doubled up the fries. You are given a number and can sit anywhere in their very big (for a BBQ joint) indoor dining area, or you can sit on a patio or outside. The walls are COVERED with pictures of old movie posters, country music stars, album covers, car tags, signs, and even a picture of the NWO (IYKYK). I didn't see the required Alabama BBQ joint picture of The Bear, Alabama football coach Paul Bryant, but with so many things on the wall, I'm sure it has to be there somewhere. There is a separate 'To-Go' spot for placing orders on the run. This also looked like a bar area as I saw advertising for alcohol. They also offer T-shirts and hats for sale if that is your thing. The menu consists of burgers, tacos, brisket, chicken, catfish, smoked chicken wings, BBQ nachos with just about any kind of side you can ask for, and pie for dessert. My order was brought to me in a timely manner. The BBQ is West Tennessee-style whole hog that Martin's cooks low and slow over hickory wood for up to 24 hours. The pulled pork is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, topped off with their special Jack's Creek BBQ sauce, on the table, which is a sweet vinegar and pepper-based sauce. I did see other sauces behind the counter, so I'm sure you just have to ask. The portions were just right for me. The fries are real cut potatoes that have been peeled. I doubled up, and that was enough to feed a family of four. Next time I will just ask for one side so as not to waste fries. The Jack's Creek sauce was great poured over my fries; it is water-based and not thick, and that is how I like my sauce. The sweet tea wasn't as sweet as some places, but I'm not complaining; it was good, and the day was hot. There seemed to be a lot of staff working. I guess it can be busy on Saturdays for lunch. I visited around 2:30 pm, and it was not crowded when I arrived but picked up as my time went on. The staff didn't have anything to say as several walked past me while doing random things. Not that it's a bad thing; I just always acknowledged customers with a "how ya doing?"--little things. The music was a mix of classic rock, soft 70s to hair metal, set at a decent volume. I don't mind being able to hear the radio, but maw maw and paw paw may complain that it was too loud. The parking lot may fill up with a big dinner crowd as there is a business next door that shares the parking lot. There is handicap parking available. Overall, Martin's offered a cool atmosphere for BBQ and a relaxing meal. They offer live music some nights (check their website), and it seems to be a great place for socializing in a casual setting. 5/5 -Kevin
