Rocky Road? More like Moldy Road (and the manager drove the bus right over customer service)…read more Bought a $4 Rocky Road candy bar at The Chocolate Box inside the Golden Nugget Casino. One bite and it tasted like mold/mildew. Not "I prefer dark chocolate." Not "too sweet." I mean straight-up damp basement vibes. Two people each took one bite and immediately stopped. That candy bar was bad, period. I didn't act like a lunatic about it, either. They had a line, so I waited until the store wasn't packed and came back when it was calmer. I politely explained the issue and told them I didn't want a refund, I just wanted a replacement candy bar. Easy fix, right? Wrong. This was handled by the manager, and the customer service was basically: "No." She had me standing there while they spent 5-10 minutes hunting around for expiration dates like that was the whole story. Then she comes back and says it "wasn't expired." Cool... except it still tasted like it had been stored next to a wet mop. When I explained again that two people took one bite and it was clearly spoiled, the manager's response was: she can't do anything because I "don't like the way it tastes." Ma'am. This is not a taste preference. This is a quality control problem. So I left the Rocky Road bar there and walked away. And then... the best part: as we walked by again, the manager was still pulling the same candy bars off the shelf. Which is it? If nothing is wrong, why are you removing them? If something is wrong, why did you refuse the simplest resolution imaginable? Then she's complaining that I was just trying to get another candy bar because I didn't like the taste... while actively yanking the "totally fine" candy off the shelf. The contradiction is almost impressive. If the manager treats customers like this over a basic, reasonable request, I have zero confidence in how this place handles anything. The Chocolate Box is overpriced, dismissive, and apparently willing to gamble with food quality. And no, I'm not betting my stomach on it again. If your manager's solution to spoiled food is 'it's not expired,' you have a training problem and a product problem. 1

First off, they bring the food out in a giant plastic bag like it's evidence from a crime scene. And honestly, it is a crime--how much butter and Cajun seasoning they put in there. The shrimp were so spicy they gave me flashbacks to every bad decision I've ever made, and the sausage? That sausage whispered sweet nothings to me before punching me in the face with flavor. I'm not saying I fell in love, but I definitely Googled "how to legally marry andouille." The corn was hotter than Satan's armpit, and the potatoes were softer than my willpower. I burned my fingertips, tongue, and possibly my soul, but I regret nothing. The staff is friendly in that Southern way where they call you "honey" and tell you you're "lookin' peaky" while piling 7 pounds of shellfish in front of you. If your bib doesn't say "I'm here for a good time, not a long time," you're doing it wrong. Pro tip: don't wear white. Or tight pants. Or any emotional baggage you're not ready to let go of--because the boil will break you down and build you back better. 10/10, would cry happy tears into my crab legs again.
