    Sense and sensibility .
    Cathryn G.

How fun! I recently did an event at the Enzian Theatre (Thank you Yelp! Elite), and that is how I found out about Popcorn Flicks in the Park. I thought it sounded like a great idea so the boyfriend and I decided to check it out. I picked the film and so last Thursday we went and watched the Jane Austen classic Sense and Sensibility. We had dinner beforehand at Boca (see separate review) and then headed over about 7:50 to find our spot. It was no problem finding a spot, but many people brought camp chairs which we had brought beach towels, so we had to position ourselves correctly so that the camp chairs didn't block our view. The group next to us brought a few bottles of wine, cheeses, crackers, and snacks. That sounds like a good idea. I might do that next time. They also brought bug spray which was a really good idea. They were super sweet to let me have some. So number 1 tip, bring bug spray! It is FL. It is summer. There are mosquitos. I grabbed us a snack from Peterbrooke chocolatier down the street and we watched the movie. They paused the movie whenever the train went by. The movie is located on the (North?) side of the park. It is closer to Boca, further away from the wine room. I definitely would like to do this again. It was a super fun night.

I'll mention that service is not as attentive as you would expect at a typical restaurant, as you are also watching a movie, so I'm sure it is to keep interruptions minimized. Today, I had a vegetarian wrap with French fries (and of course tasty popcorn!); all were very good. I especially like the fries they serve here, with a battered style coating that keeps the outside crispy, but with a soft interior. The one thing I've noticed is that some of the seats are getting a little worn.

This spot shows new, classic and art house films. It's also a great place to watch Oscar nominated films. There will often be series viewing for nominations in special categories. If you want to meet a new or old friends just step outside to the Eden Bar with original art by Bill Plimton. Here you will find a full bar with beer, wine and many original drinks to choose from. I have had many enjoyable evenings chatting with fellow cinephiles. If you're hungry, they not only have a full bar, they also have a full kitchen with a creative menu. It's avaliable during movies and at the bar. Comes an out and enjoy an artsy movie night out at The Enzian.

The Fashion Square mall is, unfortunately, permanently closed now as well. Joy K's review hit the nail right on the head by recommending that a movie producer use this abandoned mall as a film set for a dark/horror/backrooms movie while it is still standing. The comfortingly eerie atmosphere of this theater gave its customers a secret place to escape to when they wanted to watch a movie. Its hidden entrance almost made the movie theater feel like a speakeasy. I feel like only locals knew about this movie theater, and based on my conversations with them, they attended movie screenings regularly. I am so sad that I can no longer go to this movie theater when I need to escape from the world, and even sadder that I only found out about this place in December of 2025! It was very well hidden, after all. Please enjoy some pictures that I took of the movie theater on one of my last visits, and if you're reading, feel free to share any pictures or memories that you have of the Fashion Square mall or Premiere 14 theaters.

This has got to be the weirdest movie theater experience I've ever experienced…read more I think some producer should use this empty mall as a movie set like they do with the mall in Decatur, GA. So much potential for a horror film, murder mystery, or Christmas scene. What's odd, besides the hoops you have to drive and walk to actually have to jump through to arrive at the theater, is the fact I had to ask them to darken the movie theater when the movie actually started playing! A rag tag team for this apparently beloved movie theater, it just strikes me as a movie set.

Parking is free and and so is the short tram or bus ride to the event. The experience begins on the ride as you're greeted by the bus driver; (Ours was named Splatter and his energy set the mood for the night) and his assistants who may give you a fright as they give you the lore/theme of the houses and their names. The premise of this event changes every year, and after our experience we are excited to see what they cook up next year. In the front yard of the event there are many food trucks to choose from, some with themed menu options, a few shops with an array of goods, and a DJ playing some Halloween classics. This area is a relatively small but we never felt crowded, and we're able to find seats at tables to eat, despite it being Halloween Night where we expected a peak number of visitors. The smaller area also guarantees that you'll have many encounters throughout the night with the scare actors who roam this open space. Screams from guests filled the air sporadically all throughout the night. The houses were extremely impressive. There were 3 free houses included in your ticket and 2 experiences where you pay for an extra ticket. These tickets also work as fast passes to the houses. We found that the lines went by quickly. The houses are not so much houses as they are trails through the wooded area in the event lot which added a lot more to the fear factor than your typical indoor haunted houses. Every scene was filled with props and scares. It was obvious how much effort was put into the designs of the sets. This year's premise to put it simply was an abandoned mall and the houses reflected that. What really made this night for us were the employees. This experience was very interactive and the scare actors all had great attitudes. They were in character but when we had questions about the event they answered us seriously and it showed. We got the impression that they enjoyed their work, and that helped keep spirits high all night

This nearly six acre park, in Winter Park, provides both natural beauty and recreational opportunities. One of the nicest features of this park is the playground that was rebuilt in 2021 by Kompan Design with input from area residents. This playground was designed to improve physical, cognitive, creative, and social development while fostering imaginative play and friendships. Other park amenities include basketball courts, tennis courts, pavilions available for rental, restrooms, picnic tables, and outdoor fitness equipment. There are also two hardcourts for pickleball. This park is fully fenced for safety and is beautifully landscaped and it is close to downtown Winter Park where you can find shopping and dining options. This park is the perfect place for a morning stroll, a birthday party, play, or a picnic. Phelps Park appeals to all ages. Community Parks don't come much nicer than this one.
