The employees are very nice and caring to my dog. Two complaints: one is that I'd always put a flea and tick collar on her which I bought specifically for putting her in the kennel, and they'd always take it off of her without telling me- bc they don't want her to choke unsupervised. It's an $80 collar so I wish they'd call me to tell me or something rather than take it off each time. Second is you have to pay extra for them to take your dog out to go potty. I think it's $15 for each time. Otherwise they let your dog go potty in the dog's dog run which im not a fan of, since my dog has trouble with being fully potty trained not to go indoors. I always try to provide pee pads and newspaper. The other kennel I used to take my dog to- they bring her outside to go potty each time- included in the overnight rate- but they're a 40 min drive for me. Other than that, I feel safe bringing my dog here. There is one employee there I see all the time that I know loves my dog and is very sweet with her.

She literally will run to the door where they let her back and wait until they let her in. My dog is a huge baby and can get overwhelmed. Whenever she's nervous she will literally come to me and want me to hold her like a child. The fact that she runs to the door practically jumping out of her skin out of pure excitement (instead of cowering next to me) speaks volumes. She LOVES the staff. Speaking of the staff, I'm pretty sure they know every dog by name and it blows my mind. But you can tell they truly love their job and all the pups they get to be with. On top of everything else - this is our first daycare where the dogs are out playing all day. We've been to others where they have "rest time" in the kennels. It's 100% worth every penny to me that my dog is constantly playing. She's a 3 year old border collie that needs all the playtime she can get and more. Highly recommend!!

The dog ran off and the dog walker failed to retrieve her, even though she is an obedient dog who normally responds to commands. To compound the situation, the dog walker claimed that the Dachshund bit her (the dog is 10 pounds and has no history of aggressive behavior). I generally would tend to take a dog walker's word and try to believe her story, but my neighbor saw some of the incident and contradicted the dog walker's story. I will never use this company's services again.

A new front desk girl who I have never seen before and had just been hired from what the other employees told me was trying to put a collar on him and he did nip at her. I apologized to her and some other employees came out and Ghost was pleasant with them. I picked him up after the weekend and apologized again and they said these things happen, but as a dog owner I wanted to make clear that this has never happened before. He's been going to City Bark Lodo for 7 years, gets his grooming there, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. A week goes by and today July 13th, I get a call from Jonathan stating Ghost is no longer welcome. I find it a little unsettling that after a single incident he's no longer allowed to go there. I know what he did was wrong I'm not discouraging that. Why he did that I have no idea but has never had an issue with anyone else. As most dog owners know for a dog to go somewhere for 7 years then to try and find a new place for them is unsettling as they are used to the environment and atmosphere. If this was a reoccurring thing I'd understand, but after one incident and 7 years of being a loyal customer to them I'm told nothing they can do. Spent thousands of dollars over these years and the way they just dispose of us from coming back is not how I expected them to handle this.

The upshot is that I get my dog back physically and mentally tired, but not stressed-out and frazzled (which has been my experience at other daycares). I think the little mid-day alone time helps with that. I was inspired to write this review after watching the entire morning staff mobilize during a late April morning rain/snow to try and catch a dog in the nearby intersection that appeared to have escaped from a home in the area. I brought my dog for daycare almost every Monday for the last 6 weeks…read more I dropped him off 2/12 and he was super energetic and lively, when I pick him up around 5:30pm he was drooling and could barely walk out the door. I rushed him to an emergency vet 12 mins away and they told me he had a 106 fever and a lung infection and was borderline septic. After a few days at the hospital his body was not responding to antibiotics and I had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. I asked multiple different veterinarians in this process if I had been notified earlier when his behavior first changed if it would have helped his outcome and all agreed that it absolutely would have. When the manager at rover retreat contacted me after I voiced my frustration upon my dog's initial hospital stay, she only stated the staff gave a note to the front desk and the front desk failed to notify me. That the front desk personnel had been reprimanded and retrained, and then offered a refund for my one day of day care. If any of the staff had voiced a concern they should have followed up and in this case if my dog was this bad off the staff should have demanded I come get him. None of this happened, and now my seemingly healthy 2 year old lab is no longer with us. The lack of accountability and oversight clearly shows the staff at this doggy daycare are not properly trained or have no care for the animals they are put in charge of, my dog was suffering for at minimum the last few hours he was in their care, with no communication to me about it.

They originally got my dog in on a same-day interview in a pinch when I had nowhere else to go. My puppy loves going there and she pretty much leaves plum worn out from all the fun. I know she's having a better time than in her kennel at home because we are hooked on watching the video feeds at work. There is an older gentleman that I've run into a couple times who is the closest thing I've come to having a negative experience, but I take him with a grain of salt because the rest of the staff working there is killer. The owner(I'm sorry I can't remember her name) calls my dog 'her dog' which is pretty cute. I can tell they are excited to see her and she get excited to be there. And as a new dog owner, I love talking to the staff on occasion about ideas on how to work with behaviors. They've been very diplomatic on how they approach me when I ask them for help...don't try to actually train my dog or tell me it has to be done a certain way. These things happen but the way the owner handled this was unacceptable.
