Was very excited to not have to drive super far to get to some local hiking. This area very much reminded me of my hometown. I am only going to review one hike though as that is all i had the chance to enjoy of wasatch mountain state park. If I were in heber again i would love to go and explore this beauty more. Crows nest via huber grove via epperson is the hike we attempted to go on. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/utah/crows-nest-via-huber-grove-to-epperson Its a 5.1 mile loop trail that starts at the parking lot next to the visitor center. It is rated moderate. so there are so many off shoots on this trail. We followed teh all trails map and it led us astray. We eventually found the finale crows nest loop but my teens were done at that point and we just headed back. The loop in all trails map also is longer than what is listed. There are not a lot of signs that say crows nest. We did find our way out easily enough. Trail is dry. Pretty area once you get up into the trees. It is nice that wasatch is not too far out of town so very accessible. If you do not have a utah state parks pass be sure to bring $10 cash or go to the website at teh parking lot and then you can pay for parking online

It's a shame, since it's on a beautiful patch of land with a great view of the Wasatch Mountains. What a breathtaking, expansive view of the greater Salt Lake valley and the Wasatch Mountains. It has a lot of great walking areas, a unique playground, a reservable pavilion, an a renowned water feature which becomes a kids hotspot come summertime. I highly recommend taking an ambling walk to Quarry Bend Park, lass than a mile from AP. It's a pretty flat walk, no too strenuous, and it will give you an opportunity to experience two of Sandy's fabulous parks. The one minor negative for me is location. The west end of the park skirts the Lowe's and Hobby Lobby on the east end of the Quarry Bend Shopping Center. And, being right off of the hill part of 9400 S, some areas come complete with the whooshing of cars. Overall, a great park ... another feather in Sandy's cap!

This is one of our favorite play spots. They recently renovated this park and it's great! They got…read morenew toys and added pickleball courts and more parking. The playground has slides different heights of slides and climbing games for different ages. The swings have belted seat spot for anyone needing extra assistance. The ground cover is solid so you don't have to worry about wood chips or rocks! And the fields are wide and open to run in. They aren't as flat as you would hope for a game of soccer but it's doable. This spot is super hot for pickleball and tennis. There's also 2 baseball fields. They recently fenced off the elementary school field grounds for safety which I fully support! Those playgrounds and fields are open outside of school hours.

I did see a closed for the season sign blocking entrance into the parking lot areas, so you would have to park elsewhere and walk to this main area. Overall, nice park with easy access all around and a very easy trail. The view isn't as pretty as the Bridal Veils one, but it's much less crowded.

When Bridal Veil Falls is too packed, just cross under the bridge to Nunn's Park. If you're close enough to the river, the sound of the water drowns out the cars driving by on the road. I came to this park last week when I wanted to get away from the apartment for a while. I drove up the canyon for a few minutes and drove off the freeway to see that the parking lot for Bridal Veil Falls Park was packed, so I took a left and made my way over to Nunn's Park. I didn't wander over to the campground area, but the park is pretty nice. The trees are finally green and the sun was out, so I was able to kick back and enjoy how beautiful this place is during spring. Oh, but I must say, they have ants that I haven't seen since rural San Diego. Those nasty HUGE black ants...yikes. I've only seen those tiny house ants around here, so it was a bit of a shock. If you stray from the view of the water and just look at the bridge and the road above you, it's not all that pretty, but I guess that's the benefit of having two parks so close together. If you get tired of one, just walk across the street to the other one. Provo Canyon would have to be the most beautiful thing I've seen in Utah.

Once you park, you'll walk thru the neighborhood to reach the trail entrance. I actually enjoyed the walk and checking out the beautiful homes along the way. There are no public restrooms btw. The trail starts with 60+ stair steps, then it levels out into mostly flat gravel. Closer to the waterfall, there are some small rocks, and light water streams run over them, so just watch your step to avoid slipping. I climbed up the big rocks to get a closer look at the upper waterfall stream. Overall, it was an easy hike, but I spent a good few hours there soaking in the quiet nature during the week. There were only a handful of other hikers. On the way back, I did a short detour onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail for about 30 mins in before I turned around since I wasn't familiar with that route.

This tail is in a neighborhood therefore there is no parking on the street in the neighborhood. There is parking out on the main road. After you find parking you have to walk through the neighborhood on the sidewalk up a steady incline. The trailhead starts out with stairs which are hard to climb for little legs. After the stairs the trail get easier but is rocky. After you get to the waterfall, if the water is low, you can actually stand underneath it, or really close to it. On the decent down if your shoes are wet be careful. It can be slippery over the rocks, and then there is a patch of trail that is really sandy. Slip, slide... There is a part of the trail where you can head south on the BTL, but we just headed back to the car. On the way down walking through the neighborhood there was a house that had two deer running around their yard that was gated. I have no idea how they got in there as the house has a very tall fence. Good trail for the little kid, but trail is narrow, and very crowded. I would suggest going in the late afternoon, as there isn't as many people.

Unfortunately, it attracts a rough high school crowd in the afternoons, so I recommend people with younger kids only come in the mornings or off times like when it's snowing!!! One thing I've learned about dogs is that they want to run and play-and they don't care much if the…read morespace is well groomed and "pretty." So the way I might judge a park is different than if the pups do....and since this is a dog park, I'll write the review from their standpoint...if they could write. As soon as mom drives up the street, I immediately recognize where we are and start whining with excitement. I remember playing here and have been so excited to return. She pulls into the parking lot (which can get crowded at peak times, but we go early in the morning and it's A-OK). I can hardly contain my excitement as we get to the gate. Inside, there is so much room to run! I especially love the stream down at the bottom, although there are signs warning the people about the potential for disease from the water. But I don't care-I jump right in. Along the perimeter, there's a walking path that mom walks along and I loosely follow. I guess she likes that she can keep an eye on me while I can also run free. There's are other areas that are separate-a small dog section and another gated area if some dogs want privacy. Kind of nesting play areas, if you will. There are signs all around reminding people to pick up poop, along with bags to help with the icky task. They are kind of passive aggressive- they basically say "don't come here if you can't pick up after your dog." I get the point, but the tone is a little strange and unwelcoming. There is a lot of native vegetation and plants. Some of them can be a little prickly and get stuck in my fur-so mom always checks to get foxtails out when we go home. Of all the parks that mom takes me to, this one is two paws up and pretty dog-gone great. I love the space to run and the water to play in.
