One thing I've learned about dogs is that they want to run and play-and they don't care much if the…read morespace is well groomed and "pretty." So the way I might judge a park is different than if the pups do....and since this is a dog park, I'll write the review from their standpoint...if they could write. As soon as mom drives up the street, I immediately recognize where we are and start whining with excitement. I remember playing here and have been so excited to return. She pulls into the parking lot (which can get crowded at peak times, but we go early in the morning and it's A-OK). I can hardly contain my excitement as we get to the gate. Inside, there is so much room to run! I especially love the stream down at the bottom, although there are signs warning the people about the potential for disease from the water. But I don't care-I jump right in. Along the perimeter, there's a walking path that mom walks along and I loosely follow. I guess she likes that she can keep an eye on me while I can also run free. There's are other areas that are separate-a small dog section and another gated area if some dogs want privacy. Kind of nesting play areas, if you will. There are signs all around reminding people to pick up poop, along with bags to help with the icky task. They are kind of passive aggressive- they basically say "don't come here if you can't pick up after your dog." I get the point, but the tone is a little strange and unwelcoming. There is a lot of native vegetation and plants. Some of them can be a little prickly and get stuck in my fur-so mom always checks to get foxtails out when we go home. Of all the parks that mom takes me to, this one is two paws up and pretty dog-gone great. I love the space to run and the water to play in.

This is probably the best dog park I've ever been to. So much room for our dog to run around and…read moreplay. There's obstacles for dogs and the biggest highlight is the creek that runs through the park. (Be prepared to wash the mud off your dog though) Every dog I've seen there is very well trained and respectful, which is so refreshing to see. Check out this park when you have the chance!

My partner and I are on a quest to visit every dog park in the Wasatch Front and this one was next…read moreon the list. It's not the closest to home (for us) but it is in a rather convenient location in Sandy near lots of residences, so it gets lots of love. There's a dedicated parking lot a short walk away from the entrance to the park. In fact, there are two separate areas-perhaps to segregate the large and small dogs. But the day I went, the park nearer to the parking lot was chained off. It's not uncommon to see that when the turf needs time to breath, but that area had no grass. So I'm not sure why it was closed. The side that was open was plenty large. There's a track that circles the park, with a play area on either side. Our dogs prefer to walk with us, venturing off the path to chase an interesting scent or to claim a tree as their own. Plenty of other dogs were chasing balls or each other in the middle area. It's so cute! Can I pet that dog? And that one? I appreciate that there is seating along the path for people to take a break. Benches or seats near trees where there is shade is ideal and they have a few of those.

Sandy City Dog park is the first dog park I have ever taken my dog to and he is twelve years old!…read moreSo he has missed out on a lot of fun at dog parks so I decided I would change that and spice up his life by trying out this dog park. It's gated so most people hang their dogs leashes up on the fence area before entering that way their animals can roam free. It gets hot but there is some shade and some picnic tables so people can meet up for doggy dates or picnics in the afternoon or evening. It stays open pretty late with the days being longer now that it is summer. It's a wonderful dog park with lovely dogs who are all usually fun, friendly, and safe dogs for everyone to interact with.

There are trash cans available in the parking lot. DOGS ARE ALLOWED, but must be on leash. There are poo bags available for dog owners. The park has a paved 2-way walking/biking trail. It looks like a mini road. As you walk along the paved trail, you can see the Old Mill. It is fenced off to the public, but you can get an overall look of the whole place. The trail is pretty short and at the end of it, you reach the road and a residence area. The bridge near the parking lot over-looks a huge gaping hole. When I visited the park, the whole area was dry, but I have a feeling it should be filled with water. There were signs about being careful in the water, also there were a couple lost water toys in the mass of stones. I enjoyed this park, but I do wish the trail was longer. I have a feeling the huge river/reservoir and the Old Mill are the main attractions of the park, but there is no water in the huge hole at the moment and the Old Mill is fenced off, so there isn't much to do. Without the reservoir filled, I don't think a long drive to the park would be worth it, but I only live 5 minutes away from the park, so I didn't mind it. I would come back again because it's convenient and a bit more interesting than other parks that only have playgrounds and grass fields.

It's in a beautiful location, higher up on the hill and provides you with some breathtaking views. We love how well kept the courts are and it doesn't seem to be as busy as some of the other ones in the valley (cough cough steer clear of the courts in Murray). Plenty of parking, plenty of open grass to run and play in, and it's right off Bangerter Highway--if you keep driving the windy road, you'll end up in Highland/Lehi area and that's beautiful too. I haven't seen any drinking fountains near the courts, but that's not to say they're not near the pavilions or park equipment--but I'd rather be safe than sorry and pack some extra water bottles. All in all, one of my new favorite areas. I can't wait to pack a picnic and return again soon! TIPS & TRICKS: * Lots of shade and benches, but you still don't want to forget sunscreen. * Because of the location, it's much more windy than normal, so be prepared to run a little harder!
