Was attempting to get Berthillon ice cream in Paris at their store around the corner but it was closed. I noticed a line of people at this window getting Berthillon ice cream at Pom'Cannelle and the store next door. I was apprehensive at first, but both stores sell the famous ice cream out of a walk up window. The line moved at a moderate pace and gave me enough time to decide on the flavors I wanted to try. There is a green chalkboard like menu on the wall before the window with all of the flavors available. I ordered caramel nougatine and yaourt au yuza in a cup. Both were creamy, smooth, and delicious. The yuza had the light twang of frozen yogurt balanced with the sweetness of the yuza fruit. The caramel was a french versions of dulce de leche. All so good, yet never enough. These were gelato portion sizes. I also tried the burnt caramel on a cone and the flavor was a little too intense for my liking. I love the unique variety of flavors offered. This would have been 5 stars but they would not let us sit inside after buying ice cream from them and told us we had to leave. read more

Located in my favorite part of Paris, on Ile St- Louis, this small, intimate bistro specializes in crepes and galettes. I had a veggie gallette and it was amazing. The crepe was perfectly prepared and the veggie filling tasty with a wonderful amount of cheese oozing out at the edges. It came with a small side salad that was fresh and just the right amount of dressing. We had beer with the meal and the person waiting on us was gracious to offer water as well. The absolute best French onion soup there is. We first came to Paris and ate at Pom Cannelle ten years ago for our honeymoon. I have dreamed about this soup for a decade. Now we're back and have already come to Pom Cannelle twice for the soup. Another incredibly delicious item is the crepes with salmon and Creme fraiche. I hear the berthillion ice cream is the best as well but we've only come in January so not looking for ice cream. However, a lot of people came in while we were eating our soup to get the berthillion in 32 degree weather! read more

Were people eating ice cream???!! It turns out that you can order Berthillon products at this sit down cafe. Am I right? I don't know. I just decide to go with it. Luckily, I am decent with my French and fluent in dessert. After reading the menu and rubbing my pregnant food belly, I knew that ice cream was out of the question. That's French dessert for 'I need sorbet in my life before I go all Honey Bunny and exe(ute every motherfu(k!ng last one of ya!'* Impressed by my mastery of language, I was rewarded with that which I had to have: dessert. I decided upon strawberry and green apple sorbets. Each sorbet was packed with pieces of fresh fruit and tasted of the fruit's juices. This dessert was blindingly refreshing to eat, sated my sweet tooth and made me feel as though I was enjoying myself in a healthy way ('look! fresh fruit. it's healthy!') rather than hiding with the shameful excesses of creamy sweet things. Pom'Cannelle is a very busy place in the heart of very beautiful and touristy Ile Saint-Louis. One of the two remaining natural islands of paris is located just behind Notre Dame and has only few narrow one way streets. Its streets are full of small shops and restaurants offering famous Berthillon ice cream. Though we are used to good ice cream in my home town Warsaw, it is worth trying one in Paris too. Pom'Cannelle is always very busy, small restaurant by one of the main streets of this island. Besides few other things it offers very good crepes (both sweet and sour) and Berthillon ice cream obviously. Accompanied by good cider you can really spend there some time. My favorite crepes are with ham,eggs and cheese or chocolate and fruits, but there are few more which look also quite good. Pom'Cannelle has very nice staff, always smiley and very responsive, despite the crowd wanting different things at the same time. And It is worth mentioning, as this is not always the case in Paris. But in general, it is getting better and better. No outside seating, as streets are very small, inside as usual very tight and packed. But hey, this is Paris, so no surprise. Good, simple French food at prices that are far below its neighbors on the island. My boeuf bourginon with ratatouille was only €11! Berthillon ice cream is good and features in many of the desserts. In my opinion, this is an authentic French establishment. The restaurant is very quaint, the service was excellent and the food was wonderful! We wanted Beef Bourguignon and this was the place to go. We all had a wonderful time. There were 8 people in our party and that was not a problem. We did make a reservation though. The fresh crepes and handmade ice cream was awesome! I had the vanilla and my wife had the chocolate. Both were by far the best ice cream we ever had. If you are looking for a place in Paris where the locals would go, this is the place. My intention was to go get a sandwich at the patisserie down the street but for some reason it was closed--on a Thursday at lunchtime! I noticed Pom'cannelle because it looked cute, advertised a €7 crepe and it was beginning to rain so I had no choice but to go in! A charming little restaurant with a lovely and welcoming hostess/waitress/owner? The specials were all around on chalkboards and extremely reasonably priced. But I didn't want a big meal so I was torn between the fish soup and a chicken/mushroom/leek/onion tarte. Got the tarte which was very much like a quiche and came with a good-sized salad. Everything was delicious. I mean really delicious. My only feedback is that the tarte was microwaved and therefore slightly soggy. I would say spend the extra few minutes heating it in the oven. On a rainy Tuesday morning, my boyfriend and I stumbled across this absolute gem without even searching for it. The interior decoration immediately caught my attention, my attention to detail and the vintage yet homely atmosphere. The price was affordable and the menu that displayed this was concise. We ordered the French Onion Soup and the 'Complete Crepe' and wow let me tell you these were delicious. To quote my boyfriend, "I sense that the power-level of this crepe is above the charts!"- oh silly him and his dragon ball references. The cheese in the soup combined in tasting with the not-too-savoury onion achieved what I describe as a 'hearty' feeling. The crepe with all ham, cheese and egg definitely delivered in the aspect of taste- the layer, it is the first line of defence, the gatekeeper to the valuable ingredients inside and it definitely set out to do its job with one of the most crispy textures that I've personally had to break into on a crepe. The ingredients were a handful, which ensured that this dish filled the two of us up. I guess you could say you are getting the bang for your buck. To reinforce my overall positive review, at 1pm the restaurant was already jam packed with local customers of all age looking to enjoy their fine brunch/lunch/meal at this establishment. Overall, the restaurant delivered in all categories that I believe is essential when deconstructing such businesses- taste, price and service.
