This was such a great show! I loved learning about Polynesian culture in a super engaging way. The performers were absolutely phenomenal! They interacted with the audience a ton which made the show feel super special and intimate. They played music, taught about their culture, showed us cultural dances, and performed a fire knife show. It was absolutely incredible and all the performers/staff were beyond talented. They call audience to come to the stage which is really fun and stay after for pictures. 5/5 there for sure! I loveee the effort they put into health/safety practices. Although it's a buffet, the staff serves it to you and there's acrylic glass which is a barrier between the customers and the food. The salad, fruit, and red velvet cake were all in containers to keep them safe and germ free as well. The food was okay, nothing special. Some of it was great, some was bland. I liked the chicken, potatoes, veggies, and pulled pork. The sticky rice, red velvet cake, fruit, rolls, and salad were very subpar. What they lacked for in some of the food, the show more than made up for! They have a cash bar, which was nice, but only one bartender working for the whole show. Many customers were ordering blended drinks which caused a hug back up and prevented us from catching the beginning of the show. Not a huge deal but they should really consider having 2 bartenders and having one of those be the ones to make the frozen drinks since they take longer. This is a dinner show which is to transform you to a Hawaiian Luau! You're told during online registration the time the show starts the seats are pre determined indicating there is mo need to get there early. Well, I would beg to differ on those instructions for the following reasons. 1 There is a line you have to stand in just to get seated 2 Since there is a buffet you have to again stand in line to get your food 3 If you want Adult Beverages there is a line at the cash bar Because clear instructions were not given it was slightly confusing. Guests weren't even sure where to stand for the correct line. The greeter at the door was very friendly and inviting however didn't give specific directions. The host and hostess were nice once guests checked in by giving there name -moving on to another line. Once the hostess got your name she walked each patron/group to their seats and mentioned a waiter/ss would explain. Everyone was very attentive - we had not sat down when we were instructed how to get our meal, directed us to the beverages and the cash bar. I liked the way the Covid Friendly Buffett service went in regard to getting our food. Salads were in sealed containers and dressings labeled and in sealed cups. The meal staff were behind transparent dividers and asked what you would like on your dinner plate. There were Fruit containers and Dessert containers. A table with condiments to allow each patron to get what they needed/wanted. Because we had our hands full of course we went directly to the table. The real drag was going to the cash bar having to wait in line to purchase an adult beverage. All that to say... the food, if it were hot was no longer hot by the time my husband got with the drinks so we were eating almost cold food. The show was well done and the explanation of the different Polynesian languages and customs. The fire show ...performed outside was also a delight. All in all a good evening of entertainment and food tasty (would have been better if eaten hot.) If in the Myrtle Beach area and you want to have a few hours of Hawaii - check the show out. We didn't know what to expect but music had a pretty good sound and the musicians were talented. There was live island style music during the whole meal. At the end of dinner there were Polynesian dances and a Haka, some of which had audience participation. Also a man from the audience proposed at the end of the first part of the show. Then we exited for the outdoor portion of the show, which consisted of fire knife throwing/ dancing/ twirling. Before dinner, there was a pretty well stocked little bar to quench your thirst with free tea, water, fruit punch, etc. Pop, beer, and mixed drinks were reasonably priced and well mixed. The food was less tasty than we expected but the menu consisted of the following: Sticky rice "Island potatoes" Mixed veggies Pulled pork Juicy Chicken breast Mahi House Salad with mostly iceberg lettuce with choice of ranch or Italian Tasty Dinner roll Red Velvet Cake The cake was the best item on the menu. The pork was rather dry. I didn't try the fish but it did look tasty. Overall, the night reminded me of a very family friendly Las Vegas dinner/ show. I saw the show at the St Johns Inn. As they mention on their website and email, parking can get very tight. I have been to Luaus in Hawaii and the Polynesian Fire Luau in Daytona Beach. It would not be fair to compare it with the Hawaii Luaus, so I will just compare it to the one in Daytona. I believe that the Daytona Beach Luau was much better. The food was pretty good. Buffet style, they had salad, chicken, pulled pork, fruit, tea and lemonade and cake for desert. The staff and cast were very friendly and witty. The show was entertaining and they had crowd participating opportunities for men and women. 5 stars for crowd engagement. They play music while you are eating. Once dinner is over, the show begins. The dances are pretty cool. You see a hula dance and a Haka. I enjoyed watching the fire show outdoors. The cast is very talented. You get a lai and they take pictures when you arrive and you can purchase for $20, $22 if you use a credit card. They also have a limited cash bar where you can purchase beer and daiquiri and has a gift shop where you buy trinkets such as Hawaiian jewelry. and please don't forget to bring cash to leave a tip for the hard working cast and staff. read more

We attended the show at St. John's Inn. It was quite entertaining, the food was pretty decent, and the outdoor fire show was a nice way to end the show. My husband and I have attended Luau's on the beach in Hawaii so we went in with a slightly lowered expectation, which helped (just being honest). Even considering the location (NOT Hawaii) and the venue (St. John's Inn is a bit outdated and 98% of the show is inside), we both felt it was a good show and worth the price. This was a very good time! Super friendly and welcoming. I think it is run by a family, and you can tell they do it out of love. The dancers were enthusiastic, but not as skilled as you might see in the islands. Still fun to see. The food was like basic wedding food- not bad at all but definitely not gourmet. Fun fun fun! What else could i ask for, this place offers both dinner and entertainment! The staff were so accommodating. They greeted us Aloha by the entrance and gave us the garland. And lead us to our table. There was indeed no dull moments. They even encouraged the audience to participate. Food was buffet style and they were all good, i love the pulled pork. Don't go for the food if you're expecting polynesian food. Think more backyard barbecue. The menu was cold sticky white rice, unflavored, cold potatoes, veggies (mostly squashes), chicken overdone to the point of being jerky, mahi mahi that was way over cooked, pulled pork (which was pretty good once I added lots of bbq sauce), a salad, bread, and red velvet cake for dessert. Based on my plate (and others around me) more food was thrown out than eaten. Then the band started. Tiny Bubbles was first up, then they broke into a few easy listening songs. To their credit, they did know how to play, and they were in tune, although in the end it was kinda like watching a band "inspired" by polynesia. Then the dancing started. Some of it was actually pretty good. Other portions needed more work. The costumes throughout were pretty cool. By now you're wondering if I'm jaded. Well, kinda. I've been to luaus and shows like this in Hawaii and Australia, and this one is like a very cheap imitation for people who haven't had the chance to see the real thing. Overall it only gets the second star for the effort, but I wouldn't return. Ever. This is a really fun show - you should definitely consider it if you're tired of pirates and knights... The dinner is buffet style. It's nothing special, but neither is the food at those other places. It's plentiful and includes salad, rolls, chicken, tilapia, BBQ pork, rice, squash, fresh fruit, and cake. Cash bar is available, or water and tea are included. I booked this on an evening that was supposed to be good weather, since it's held on a deck. But don't let weather stop you - it's a covered deck. The tables in back are slightly higher than those in front, which helps the people seated in the back see the action. There were probably close to 150 people there on Wednesday, so I'd say you definitely need to make reservations. Everything seems to be handled by a group of 8 folks - they checked us in, seated us, performed the dinner music, served the buffet, and it wouldn't surprise me if they also cooked the food. Very sweet and welcoming people. So after supper, the dancing finally starts. 7 of the 8 people danced, and one guy was handling everything else. The dancing was great - I just wish there was more of it. Each piece was quite short - I would have loved more. The whole show was about an hour. They did have audience participation, which I'm sure a lot of people love , but I personally would prefer to watch them. (Yes, I participated, and yes, I made a fool of myself.) So, if you want something different for dinner and a show, you should definitely go check them out. It's fun, and it's supporting a very talented and enterprising family. The only improvements I would suggest are a second buffet line so some people don't have to wait as long - I was finished eating before some people even got their food. And more dancing! The entertainment was pretty good. Although, the fire show that's outside should be done during darkness so one can really appreciate the fire tricks. The food was a complete zero. I'm not sure how fish can be harder to cut than chicken but somehow they were able to accomplish this unlikely feat. They're all so sweet and funny, incorporating the crowd and cracking jokes. I would have to say I was mostly disappointed. The food was mediocre at best, the chicken, pork and fish were all good, the rice ok and everything else not so much. There was nothing about the meal that suggested luau, not a pineapple in sight. Honestly, I think I would have enjoyed Shoney's more. The entertainment was great, however I was not able to see most of it. The seating situation should be explained when you buy your tickets, tables are set up vertically in front of the stage and if you're at the end of the table like we were all you can do is try and see around everyone else's head, very frustrating and disappointing for fifty bucks. Outside for the fire show wasn't much better, if you weren't out there first then it was hard to see again. From what I could almost see, it looked awesome. The highlight of our 35 anniversary was suppose to be the LUAU... we had confirmed reservations and even Sprung for the higher end seating.... After getting dressed up in our Hawaiian attire and arriving 15 min early we found the place dark and locked up... waiting a few minutes and having no luck we called the listed number only to find out that the show was cancelled!!!
