Overall, I was very happy with my experience in Independence Mall. I found and purchased items in…read moreDillards, Rainbow, American Eagle, Earthbound, and Hot Topic. The service I received in these stores were good to exemplary. Dillards and Earthbound were my favorite stores in the mall and where I received the best discounts, got hard to find or rare items, free gifts with purchase at Lancome in Dillards, and had the most exemplary customer service from Caroline at Lancome & Robert in men's shoes at Dillards and Sarah in Earthbound. I wish I was able to spend more time in the mall to see Ulta and Five Below yet my time was limited there. I purchased items at discounted prices in all of the stores I mentioned. I would definitely come back to this mall again.

Mrs. K. was on a mission for a few things from Bath & Body Works, and after navigating the lumpy terrain of a Wilmington cemetery earlier, she was ready for some smooth, level walking. Having a purpose gave the visit a bit more shape, and that was welcome. Independence Mall has been around since 1979, opening in the heyday of American mall culture with Belk-Beery, JCPenney, and Sears as its original anchors. A fourth wing came along in 2001 to make room for Dillard's, and the place has seen a fair bit of redesign since then. These days, it leans more open and airy, with nods to Wilmington's coastal vibe. We weren't in a hurry, so we mostly wandered just taking it in. We ducked into a couple of shops, browsed a bit, and yes, came away with the Bath & Body Works haul we'd hoped for. All in all, a relaxed and satisfying stop. [Review 1352 of 2025 - 4471 in North Carolina - 24904 overall]

I've been wanting to visit here since they opened. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon while they were…read moresetting up for an event. DJ going, bar open and a few food trucks to choose from. We went with Lynne's concessions which we've seen around town before...burger and a chicken quesadilla both came with fries. Really good! The guys behind the bar were super friendly too. There's corn hole along with a few other games set up and lots of places to sit with umbrellas and shade. Our daughter had a great time running around with all the other kids, which was great that it was enclosed for the most part. Restrooms on site and FREE parking. Support local!

They also had one long bench seating lined up on one side, close to the bench tables. Sitting there made it a little awkward to be in such close proximity to the people on the bench tables. Small Pole table trays were available too if you don't mind standing. There's plenty of open space, so hopefully in the future they can add more seating. It may be a good idea to bring your own seats and side table if you want to do extra work. Four food trucks were lined up on one side: Rude Bwoys, Italian Ice, Gusty Peruano, and another one. There was a short line for Gusty Peruano. The pager they gave us notified us when the food was ready, took less than 15 minutes. Food was great, although expensive. The Smashburger was delicious, but the fries were on the softer side. Causa a la Limeña was good too. We didn't get drinks since there was an extremely long line, but when we initially arrived, there was no line. So if that happens to you, take advantage of that while you can. The DJ was starting to set up right when we were leaving. There were some cornhole boards. Didn't see any bathrooms or porta potties. Gusty Peruano made it worth it to visit, otherwise, not sure if I would be back.
