He was accommodating with my schedule and showed up on time- actually early! We talked, he shared the history of the company (30 yrs in business, I remember correctly) and reviewed what we were hoping to replace- he showed me what Shading Solutions could do- measured, twice, and we were on our way. The date he told me to anticipate our awnings should be delivered and one week before, contacted me to say we are on schedule! The awnings were delivered and we set a date for installation. The day before, Kurt Lamothe, the installer, came to look at the awnings and to check out the job site, impressive! Not waiting for 'day of ' - being proactive shows professionalism ~ so appreciated in this day! The installers show up, again, professional and friendly and EARLY! Again, I was impressed because as they're installing, Joe, my sales guy, shows up just to make sure all is going well and that I was satisfied. He even texted me after to say there is a windy storm rolling in so make sure to roll up the awnings as they were just installed. The guys picked up all the wrappings and left not one piece behind. Oh- and the price was fair, no hard sell or upsell. Will post pics later ~ but we are VERY satisfied to find a company and people who are professional and are great at their jobs! Thanks Joe, Kurt, Kurt Jr and Cliff (?) I apologize if I got the name wrong!

Back in June 2020, I reached out to the company Archadeck in order to obtain a quote on a potential…read moredeck project. The woman who answered me, Kristin, was actually really rude. When she asked me when I was looking to do this job I told her probably not until early 2021, to which she responded "well we're not gonna talk to you right now because I have to focus on other clients who are doing their projects right now." I can actually respect the fact that she's focused on short-term clients, but it just seemed so off-putting that when I hung up I figured I would never hear from them again. Flash forward to February 2021, and to my surprise, Kristin leaves a voicemail on my phone. The voicemail was very polite, unobtrusive, and invited me to call her back if I wanted to engage her in conversation. And that she wouldn't be calling me again unless I wanted to speak with her. This intrigued me because I wanted to get a competing bid so I called her back a few days later. At first, she didn't recognize my name, but then pulls my name up on her computer and realized who I was. I told her we were looking to do a back porch and the first thing that came out of her mouth was a confrontational tone that said, "It says here you're looking to do a front deck" - as if her notes were gospel and I couldn't possibly be inquiring about something different. I politely responded that we were considering both (and that we had discussed that in our previous conversation) and decided to do the back porch first. She started asking around pricing saying that she could do a project from $5000 up into the six figures. When I told her I was thinking about somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000, she said "that will definitely be a wood deck." I asked her what that meant - was that good or bad and she responded as if I should have known that composite decks are better and costs more. How the hell am I supposed to know that? I've never done a deck project -- that's why I'm reaching out to you to get a quote on one. But instead of treating this as a way to build a relationship and potentially get to a sale, she basically made me feel like an idiot because I didn't know the difference between wood and composite decks. When I asked her about the process she informed me that it included sending her a photo of the back of our house, sitting down for a phone call to discuss what we're looking for, and if we chose to proceed then she would come out to our house to take measurements and do more in-person analysis. At that point, she insisted that we do the 45-minute conversation right then and there -- to which I responded well I need to get my wife and she's not free right now. For some reason, she just assumed that because I was calling, that I had all the time in the world to engage, and a 45 minute to an hour-long discussion was something I could just do anytime. I called her out on being rude and while she backpedaled for a moment, she resumed her defensiveness. I was hoping maybe I caught her on a bad day but seeing as other customers here have had similar experiences, it doesn't sound like an exception.

I needed a contractor that will get the job done right and Im so glad that I hired Pulse. Derrick came out and measured the deck in minutes, provided samples and suggestions. I knew composite was the way to go so I don't have to worry about maintenance. Within an hour we had a plan. I had a hard time narrowing down colors but helped by offering his suggestions. The colors I picked were some newer options Trex released and Derrick said he was excited to see how it turns out. Derrick and Luke came out and when I watched them work I was highly impressed. They worked like machines; measuring and communicating like a good team should. Luke is clearly a highly skilled carpenter. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Their attention to detail really showed and they kept me informed of their progress through an app with daily updates in what was complete. Communication was top notch and thats important to me. Pulse wasn't the cheapest company, but the value was great. You get what you pay for and Im glad that I finally have a beautiful deck to enjoy. I only wish the rest of my house was as nice as it puts the rest of it to shame. If you're looking for a job done right call Pulse.
