Ordered the special- 4 drumsticks and two sides. Had fried okra and a serving of the Mac and cheese. Hubby had the half chicken with seasoned fries and Mac and cheese. That chicken is FIRE!! In a good way ... but be warned it is served fresh hot AND spicy hot! I'm normally a wimp for the hot stuff but I toughed it out and LOVED every moment of my lips burning. I would have normally gotten a little ranch to dip, but that felt like it may be a sin at Gus's! I didn't want to insult the cook like that! If we lived closer I would order a gallon of those greens for every holiday and say it was my "special recipe Our server, Princess (the best smile ever!) was fabulous! The baked beans had a beautiful bbq sauce with a little heat from jalapeño. However... the other sides were completely lacking. The coleslaw tasted like it came out of a bucket. Just premade. The potato salad was overwhelmed by pickle flavoring and tasted like sweet relish. That seemed to be homemade though. The Mac n cheese was just underwhelming, unfortunately. It was missing a little something something... like soul. I can't speak on the service as I had it delivered. It came quick and hot. I was worried it the chicken was going to steam and get soggy but that was not the case. I can't speak on the ambiance since of the place either. This place was recommended by some locals so I thought I give the place a try. Stick with the chicken and you'll be safe.

I'm not a huge breakfast sandwich fan, but my husband wanted to try this place so we went. Upon entering, it looks really nice in there. You can tell it's all pretty new. You order at the kiosks. You get your drinks yourself. You seat yourself. We didn't see a single employee until someone came out to deliver food and right to the back they went. It was very un-customer service like. The timing was quick though. My husband got a sandwich and it was pretty good. I wouldn't mind getting it next time. The blueberry biscuit was a nice touch to it. The cheesy tots were different, but I did enjoy them. I got the breakfast box with grits and could not finish it. The grits were mushy and slimy. It was so bad, and the bacon was over cooked. I said I probably would have liked it better without the grits and maybe chicken. But then I might as well just get a sandwich that had more flavors. We also got some blueberry beignets and those were overcooked, but the flavors were still good. Definitely add the marshmallow sauce with it. Coffee was just coffee... don't expect more. I'll be back to try a sandwich to myself, but never again will I order those grits.

1 STAR -- Extremely Poor Customer Service…read more The customer service from the female manager was unacceptable. I walked in around 3:45 PM to place an order and was told I could only pay by card because the manager was counting down all of the registers for a shift change. Not everyone carries a card, and customers shouldn't be made to feel like an inconvenience because management is preparing for a shift change. I had a coupon pulled up on my phone and gave the number to the employee. The employee asked the manager if they could use it. The manager, while continuing to look down and count the register in front of customers, basically stated that I could use the coupon but had to pay by card because she was counting the drawers down. The issue wasn't that she was doing her job or preparing for a shift change. The issue was the attitude and complete lack of customer service. There was no attempt to politely explain the situation or accommodate the customer. Instead, I was made to feel like I was bothering her while she was counting the register. If management cannot handle a shift change while still treating customers with basic courtesy and respect, then there is clearly a customer-service issue that needs to be addressed. Very disappointing experience. The food may be good, but good food doesn't make up for poor treatment of customers.

There's nothing like eating a grilled chicken salad dry. Funny thing is, all the people who ordered a salad were in the restroom within the hour with diarrhea. I had the fish and chips. They left out the malt vinegar I requested. Soggy fries were in the same container and we received a roll and a piece of cornbread nobody ordered. Just a total lack of incompetence once more. If this is considered a "neighborhood" restaurant, there's no wonder for sale signs are all in the area. They really need to pay more attention to to-go orders especially when they are getting gratuity. The vibe was upscale and elite, and the service was timely and attentive! The notes I have are solely regarding the dishes we ordered. My boyfriend and I split the Honey Gem salad, which was perfectly balanced and had delicious, sweet profiles. We then ordered the Chicken of the Sea Pizza, which was very questionable. Essentially, the pizza was just round garlic bread with a 3oz mound of sushi-grade tuna in the middle. The cold, raw tuna atop hot, oily cheese was not the combination I was expecting nor enjoyed (I was expecting cooked tuna, and for the pizza to lean more on an Asian flavor focus). This pizza was supposed to have a green goddess sauce/drizzle, but was unfortunately missing. I was hoping the sauce would help to round out the odd flavor pairings.
