Ordered fried chicken 4 piece (2 drums, 2 thighs-pick your parts) with a side of Yuca fries and fried plantains. They threw in a roll too. Also ordered an empanada and classic chicken sandwich. The chicken came out excellent, moist and not undercooked nor overcooked. The breading seasoning had good flavor. The roll was a good sweetness and soft and not dry. The plantains were not bad but the fries were bland. Too bad they gave plenty of the fries. The sandwich was pretty good and the empanada was alright. I've never heard or had Pollo Campero. I'm an adventurous eater so I went ahead and tried it out while in Huntington Park. I had a breaded chicken breast sandwich which was very thick and moist. The bun was nice and soft too. The platinos were the bomb The best platinos I've ever eaten in my entire six decades. They were not dry hard or overcooked they were nice and soft and plump. Very disappointing experience. The chicken was dry and had an unpleasant taste, and the fried yuca tasted like it was cooked in old, reused oil. The food quality was far below expectations. Pollo Campero was originally established in Guatemala, and since I'm from Guatemala, I wanted to treat my parents to our favorite restaurant from when we used to live there. I hosted a PPV event last night and decided to visit the nearest Pollo Campero, which happened to be the one in South Gate. As you walk in, you're greeted with the enticing scent of their delicious fried chicken. I ordered their 20-piece family meal with all fried and mixed chicken, along with mac and cheese, plantains, rice, beans as sides, and 12 empanadas. The lady at the register offered their special of four empanadas for $7 and honored it for the 12 that I ordered, which I thought was really nice of her. The total for this meal came out to be $103, which I felt was a good deal. The ambiance had the typical Pollo Campero vibe, and it was super busy on this Saturday afternoon. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be prepared, and I double-checked everything was there before heading home. Here's where things got a bit confusing. When I unpacked my bags, I noticed that the containers for the sides didn't look like a family-size portion, meaning it didn't seem like it was meant to feed "20 people." Since I was expecting 15 people for the event, my wife ended up making some more rice, beans, and mashed potatoes. The food itself was delicious as alway,s. My family enjoyed it so much that we didn't have any leftovers. It was our first time trying the empanadas, and they were delightful, with plenty of chicken and flavor. The sides were also flavorful, and the plantains were crunchy and sweet. Overall, the customer service and food quality were perfect. The portion size for a family meal appears to be a corporate issue rather than a problem with this specific restaurant, so I'm giving it five stars. I'll be back again. read more

I had low expectations of this restaurant but my wifey and I were pleasantly surprised about the food. I was informed that the fried chicken was more popular than the grilled chicken. After trying both, I thought it would be the reverse. Either way, the meat is very well seasoned before cooking. The flavor penetration was deep and it tastes wonderful. The yuca fries have a slightly different taste and texture. Combined with the dipping sauce, you are in for a treat. If you eat in, the food is served on colorful plastic plates for a change of pace. The mango and jamaica drinks are not too sweet but very refreshing. The service is very warm and friendly and the facility is clean and well maintained. I don't know why the chain is rated so low. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is in reference to the manager today 4/28/2026 that was on duty in the morning shift young guy with black hair and a red tattoo on the back of his right ear. Very unpleasant guy no welcoming vibes at all lack of customer service all day way!!! You call yourself a manager and have very bad customer service experience very sad. The reason for this review is because I wanted to order the 3 piece meal and I was not allowed to substitute it at all. I was told I was gonna be charged separately which makes no sense on buying extra chicken when originally I wanted to substitute the legs. Anyways you are a horrible manager you should just be a regular worker and not hold such high position people like you don't deserve to have this position!!! There's so many people waiting in line and drive thru. The drive thru had so many cars lined up all around the building that people who want to park can't even park because it blocks all the parking spaces. We parked at the center next to it and walked inside. The line was outside the door. I got seats while my boyfriend ordered for us. When our orders came, pretty quickly after we ordered, one of the orders were wrong. The lady serving it to us only spoke Spanish, so I told her in broken Spanish that we were missing the plantains. She got a English speaking man who was doing the cashiers and he took our receipt back. After awhile of not hearing back, I asked the same Spanish lady about our plantains, she got a manager and I had to explain to her about our order was missing. After, the Spanish lady got our plantains. However, our receipt was never given back to us. The chicken was good. The white chicken meat was very very dry. Seasoning was good though. Fries were cold!! Not even warm. Mashed potatoes were cold too except the gravy. Yucca fries were good, very unique tasting. Plantains came out warm and delicious. I don't recommend coming here. It was out of the way driving there and given the long wait to order and our foods were missing, prob not. read more

We were excited to try Pollo Campero, thinking it was Guatemala style inspired, but we were VERY DISAPPOINTED! First the rice is from a box and it tastes like the rice served in other chain restaurants. There were no salsas or sauce offered to go with the chicken. The bottled chile at the tables has nothing to do with Guatemala which is why we came to try this good. The fries were hard. The grilled chicken and fried were ok. The fried banana was sweet. This Guatamalan fried chicken export was a bit dissapointing. As it was before the branding overhaul. I'm a fried chicken aficionado, and was dissapointed by the lack of flavor, and the soggy crust. The sauces were weak in flavor and tasted like preservatives were a big part of the "formulation".
