My wife and I went to El Molinito restaurant in Pico Rivera just across the street from Walmart. This our first time trying Colombian cuisine,I have eaten Colombian cuisine before I enjoy the flavors and depth of flavor of the food. We're greeted by the owner of the restaurant she told us we can sit anywhere in the restaurant and we did find a table. She came and hand us the menu then she our drinks order we both order coffee. The restaurant is very nice e cozy little restaurant of full of Colombian adornments that you feel you are in Colombia. We both decided to order the Huevos Pericos it's scramble eggs Colombian style it comes with rice and Arepa with cheese. It's like a Salvadoran Pupusa but Colombian version of the pupusa. The waitress brought our meal it looks so good and delicious and the aroma was overwhelming from the Arepa and the Huevos Pericos or scrambled eggs. I try the scramble eggs they so good incredible flavors in the egg including the other ingredients like the tomatoes and onions and spices they use in the egg they were fluffy and good. The rice was amazing it have good flavor in the rice and fluffy that we enjoy. The Arepa was so good like a pupusa but cheesy that I really like including the cheese they use in Arepa. Overall we enjoy the food at the El Molinito restaurant, we come back again and try different items from their menu.

Get back to work and noticed none of the arepas had cheese. called and let them know. Didn't ask for anything. After thinking about it, asked if I could stop later, on my way home, to pick up the missing cheese. The lady said of course and that she'd be there. She offered a free order of arepas to fix their mistake. Once I arrived the lady recognized me right away and told me they would give me three arepas, I said that was fine. She told me it was going to be a while and couldn't tell me how long because there was a big order. Then she came out of the kitchen and said the owner had said Two arepas. I told her that was fine, but I was more concerned about the time it would take. I heard the owner saying from the kitchen that it would be fast. I said ok. I asked if I could have cheese for the other three arepas. The owner told (from the kitchen) no! That she'd was giving me two arepas already. I asked her to come out and speak to me that I had not asked for anything free and did not want to eat the initial arepas without cheese. She replied that she could not come out of the kitchen to speak to me because she was busy. I didn't say anything else and left without the cheese I had original requested or more arepas. Not sure where she thought she was doing me a favor. They made me the mistake and handled the whole situation as if they were accommodating me for something I had done! I LOVE specialty food markets!…read more El Nuevo Mundo Market specializes in Cuban and Puerto Rican food products with variety of items and produce from Caribbean and Latin American countries. This cute little specialty market has a HOT-FOOD counter that makes delicious Cuban favorites. Ropa Vieja (shredded beef in tomato sauce), Arroz Congri (black beans mixed in rice), Lechon Asado (roasted pork), and Cuban sandwiches. We got some Oxtail Beef Stew that was so tender and delicious! Don't forget the pastries made in house and coffee - all great! Of course you can make everything yourself with ingredients from their store. Beyond groceries, I think they even have Cuban cigars here. The market is immaculate and service is wonderful! There is a small table inside where you can enjoy your coffee and pastries; or meal. Mostly people do takeout. Parking available in the rear back or side residential. Street parking on Gage Ave can be hectic when leaving... I love this place!
