My wife and I enjoy and encounter and try different cuisine from other nationality because of the flavors they use and depth of flavors in the ingredients they use in their dishes. My wife and I went to El Molinito restaurant in Pico Rivera just across the street from Walmart. This our first time trying Colombian cuisine,I have eaten Colombian cuisine before I enjoy the flavors and depth of flavor of the food. We're greeted by the owner of the restaurant she told us we can sit anywhere in the restaurant and we did find a table. She came and hand us the menu then she our drinks order we both order coffee. The restaurant is very nice e cozy little restaurant of full of Colombian adornments that you feel you are in Colombia. We both decided to order the Huevos Pericos it's scramble eggs Colombian style it comes with rice and Arepa with cheese. It's like a Salvadoran Pupusa but Colombian version of the pupusa. The waitress brought our meal it looks so good and delicious and the aroma was overwhelming from the Arepa and the Huevos Pericos or scrambled eggs. I try the scramble eggs they so good incredible flavors in the egg including the other ingredients like the tomatoes and onions and spices they use in the egg they were fluffy and good. The rice was amazing it have good flavor in the rice and fluffy that we enjoy. The Arepa was so good like a pupusa but cheesy that I really like including the cheese they use in Arepa. Overall we enjoy the food at the El Molinito restaurant, we come back again and try different items from their menu. read more

I visited El Molinito because my Colombian friend had beef empanadas for her birthday and I thought they were so delicious. The place is in Pico Rivera so it was a bit of a drive for me. It was a Sunday morning about 11 and and they were already pretty full in the dining area. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. The waitresses were so nice and polite. They asked if it was our first time. I said yes and explained I had tried the empanadas. She went over what we could order as our first time We didn't want too, too much so we ordered off the appetizer menu to try different items in smaller portions. Of course we got beef empanadas, 2 arepas, one with cheese and one with the whole yellow corn and cheese (a bit sweeter). I also ordered a small chicharron and rice and beans to complete our meal. I asked for decaf coffee and they told me they would make me a "light coffee" which I thought was such a nice gesture since they didn't have decaf. They also made us a special spicy ahi sauce. Wow everything was so fresh and delicious! I loved both arepas. I definitely recommend both types. The empanadas have a potato and shredded beef filling inside with a crispy corn outer encasing. The rice and beans were okay. Overall, this is such an amazing hole in the wall. You totally get the whole experience! The empanadas are a must. I also ordered 20 to go. You can order them cold that way you can heat them up in a lightly oiled pan or a toaster oven at home. Honestly, give this place a try! It is amazing for Colombian food. read more

It came with beef, chorizo, pork, egg, steamed rice, beans, fried yucca, fried potatoes, arepa and sweet plantain. It also came with a side of some mildly spicy green aji which I could have eaten several sides of. The portion was generous and I think it is enough to feed two people. So we're watching Encanto with the kids and I get this craving for arepas. I should preface by saying that growing up in LA, I haven't had very much Colombian food in my life. Colombian restaurants are just not as common as food from other LatinAmerican countries. In LA, Mexican food is king among Latin food! So when I came across this spot so close to home, I went for it. I'll make this a "pre-review" because I only got the arepas, empanadas and a taco that I ate while watching TV. So it would be unfair to make a definitive call - but.... everything was bomb! The empanadas were fresh and delicious. The arepas de queso were very good and generous with the cheese. And the taco de asada was flavorful. The lady in the front was very courteous and friendly , the place is clean and right away she came out with the menu and asked me what I wanted to eat . I ordered Frijoles paisa . The food was amazing. We had the Picada for 4 people and had plenty of food left over to take home. The serves was great. They were very welcoming and quick.
