I'm sorry but I don't understand some of the 3-4 star reviews of pollo Campero. Not only is their food absolutely amazing but it's a nice sit down place inside as well. Listen the service could be a little annoying but I've ordered their family meal plenty of times and it is always spot on. Their chicken is so crispy and juicy and cooked to perfection. Always get the rice and beans to go along with the family meal we usually get and their dinner rolls. And for those complaining about the empanadas? That's nuts. They have some of the best empanadas I've had. Just pure chicken cheesy crispy goodness. It is hard with the language barrier when you call and ask for certain modifications on your order which is frustrating but it will not take away how amazing the food is. Absolutely 10/10 spot. I do wish they made spicy fried chicken, that would be a game changer. I hope to see this in the future. Their sauces are pretty much unlimited and absolutely delicious. Wanted to give the new Chicken place a try but unfortunately it might have been my last time going here. I ordered the Early Bird Special and the fries were under cooked and soggy, the 2 pieces of chicken looked like chicken wings they were so small and they didn't even put the dinner roll in the bag. Then I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was average at best. The funnier part is on their own menu it says special is $8.50 but I was charged $10 on their App. I tried to ask why the App charged me more and I was told the App was right but their sign ordering food was wrong????? That makes 100% no sense!! With Popeyes and KFC within 1/4 mile I'll def take my business elsewhere. read more

First, let me just say, I love chicken. I will take chicken over a burger any day. That being said, when a new chicken place opens of course I have to try it!! Service: the girl didn't speak much, Eng the communication between the two of us was kind of off. Not that I had any mistakes, she just couldn't answer any questions regarding the food that I was interested in so I ended up going with nuggets. Unfortunately, the Nuggets tasted like they've been sitting in the warmer all day . They were a combination of rubber and concrete. The flavor I could see if it was fresh might be there, but I honestly couldn't tell. The french fries, hot and soggy. I had a large so it came in a large container that was only half full. The dinner roller comes with is a very chintzy little dinner roll that you can buy in any supermarket wrapped in plastic wrap. I got the mail, but I had to pay for my drink separately because the meals do not come with a drink. I have to tell you that $13.90 for six terrible nuggets, disgusting fries and a drink I had to pay separately for is way too much money. I'm sorry, but money is just too tight these days and even if you go to the drive-through, you expect a certain amount of food quality, and this place doesn't really have that. For a new place at dinner time the drive-through was empty, it was just me and now I know why . You really need to step up your game if you're going to succeed . Hire some people in there that actually speak both Spanish and English, get yourself some quality control on the food, and hire yourself some people actually care about your business. The worst ever and pricey for crappy food. I got the 2 piece chicken meal and paid extra for a breast instead of a thigh.They gave me a thigh and a chicken leg anyway. The skin had a nice crunch. I'd give it a 7.5/10. The sides I got were the mashed potatoes and the beans. The mashed potatoes were pretty run of the mill. Not the greatest but not the worst. Overall I'd give it 7/10. The other side I got were the beans and honestly? These beans? Were banging! Well seasoned and very filling. Those are a solid 9/10. As a drink I got the horchata and I was disappointed. Not good tasted very bland. I've definitely had better. I feel like horchata on Long Island is always a hit or a miss. I'd rate it a 5/10. It's another Sunday during the COVID-19 pandemic, and although it's early in the evening, most of our go to places will not be delivering until tomorrow. We decided to try Pollo Campero. I have passed this place by many times in the past, but I was probably in a rush or vowed to try it out at a later date. Well, I did tonight and everyone was pleasantly surprised! I ordered through a third party delivery app. The meals were prepared quickly. The delivery service was timely, and the meal was well packed in a sturdy brown bag. I appreciated that the bag was stapled shut and had an unbroken seal across the handles. Any additional measures taken to further ensure safety during these difficult times is a plus. The food was nice and hot when it arrived. We purchased individual chicken meals, flan for dessert and cold bottles of water. The prices were incredibly reasonable. The crispy chicken sandwich was very good. The breading was crispy, but not overdone. Chicken fillet was very moist and included a soft hearty bun. The mashed potatoes and gravy were both homemade, and quite delicious. The three piece chicken meal included a breast, a wing and a drumstick. They were also nicely breaded, not dry and tasty. A cute little dinner roll was also included. The flan was a nice ending to a very savory meal. The food does not seem like it is mass produced, and it reminded me of many home cooked meals of yesteryear. Pollo Campero is an excellent choice for a very filling meal at a great price. I downloaded the Pollo Campero app and now I'm hooked! I've never heard of the place until the chain showed up in my neighborhood. They have the BEST flaky, buttery, flavorful chicken empanadas I've ever tasted in my life!!! The street corn, plantains and mango drink is pretty delicious too, I'm pretty sure the mango drink will give me diabetes, so I'd mix it with water. The staff is bilingual, friendly and quick. I know there's a good chance that I will be smiling as well once I'm done eating so inward I go. I walk in and I am already thinking: KFC and Boston Market, but from the west coast. I'm thinking New Mexico. As I look around, I see artwork that radiates Central America culture. The music in the background was ethnically exciting and upbeat. I recognized the song as "En Barranquilla me quedo" by Selena Cruz. This is the exact kind of music that I like to listen to while I'm eating something zesty and well-seasoned. The manager came up to me and asked if I enjoyed my Camparo Beans and Fried chicken. "All I am missing is a cerveza". The manager knew exactly how I felt. My son and I really liked Pollo Campero. The fried chicken crushes the Colonel. It's crispy and the meat is not mushy. There is a neat citris-y tang to the chicken. Add some hot sauce and it's fantastic. One recommendation; increase the variety of hot sauces available, potentially with a little more heat please. Also the black beans on the side were very good but a little overcooked. Also the restaurant was very clean, a real plus for fast food. All in all when we are in a hurry and need a fried chicken fix, Pollo Campero will definitely fit the bill. read more

Best chicken on Long Island! Crispy, tender and well spiced, however, except for the excellent empanadas on the menu, the sides are only mediocre. Wish there were more authentic Latin sides instead of the bland mashed potatoes, unsavory fries (although the yucca fries are good). So far so great! I just happened upon this new eatery when I was in the neighborhood. Not wanting to commit to too much food, I ordered a spicy chicken empanada. It was gooooooood! Light and crispy pastry and nicely spiced filling...not too hot. Counter staff is particularly cheerful at this place. Whatever you want is no problem. Fill out the survey and get $1 off on $5...$5 off on $20...or a free empanada. I just revisited for the free empanada! And...unlike dunkin donuts you do not have to fill out the survey within 3 days. Where can I begin. I only been there once in which this would be my second time. I came in for the free salad coupon i got in the mail. My friend did not eat much all day so he got something. Waited 30 minutes for food because the server gave away our order by mistake. Then they started to prepare another order. The salad was good, they gave my friend extra fries to compensate us for the wait as well as another coupon BUT they gave us HALF the chicken that was supposed to BE included in my order. This particular pollo campero sucks. First off their service is extremely slow. Whether I ordered the fried or grilled chicken expect a 15 minute wait. Secondly, the fried chicken is decent but skip the grilled chicken. It's literally grilled to death. Lastly, I hate places that skimp on sauce. This was mine and my family's first time eating here. The woman who took our order at the cash register (her name Maria) was extremely rude to my family and I. We ordered a 4 peice combo with a medium mango drink. The lady comes and places the food and drink on our table. We immediately notice we ordered a medium drink but she charged us for a large. We dismissed the drink situation because we didn't want to be a bother. We then continue to eat the food. All of a sudden Maria walks up to our table and says you ordered 4 pieces but we accidentally gave you 6 pieces. And we all are so confused since we were already half way done with our food we didn't even notice that they gave us 6 instead of 4. She then gets her tongs and picks up 2 peices of already eaten chicken that had some chicken meat still left on the bone and puts it back on a plate in her hand. As she's doing this she says "ill just throw this in the garbage." We were all so shocked that she would not only reach over our table and pick up our eaten food but claim she'd rather throw it out. I was furious that she was wasting the food. It was there mistake but she made it seem like we stole the chicken. I was so angry I then told her how she gave us a large drink instead of a medium and how insulted I am that you would pick up our already eaten food and say you're going to put it in the garbage. She stood by her decision of throwing out the food. I then told her I will leave a bad review on the survey that is on the receipt. As soon as I said that she came to our table and tried to give us a medium mango drink to make up for it. As she tried to give us the drink she tried snatching our receipt off of our table thinking we wouldn't notice so that we couldn't leave a survey with the survey number on the receipt. My sister told her that receipt is mine and she backed off. This is the worst dining experience I've ever had in my entire life.
